BJ Penn Says Georges St. Pierre "a Bit Greased", But GSP Still the Better Fighter
Assuming whoever runs BJ Penn's Facebook page is BJ Penn, then the UFC lightweight champion had this to say about the fight Saturday night:

It's hard to tell much, but it sounds like Penn - if Penn mans his own Facebook page - accepts the results. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: BJ (again, if he mans his own Facebook page) sounds motivated to keep fighting and apparently would like to face Kenny Florian in June:

UPDATE 2: Seriously, the comments are just out of hand at this point. I have closed them now for this post. Guys, take a deep breath and relax. And for the record, the trick to arguing over the Internet is to be nice until someone escaltes the situation or is unable to follow the evolution of the conversation. Then you ignore them and move on. Anything else is simply a waste of time.
UPDATE 3: And just like that, the status comments including Penn's have been deleted. I suppose the only way to prove I didn't fabricate these screenshots would be to contact the folks you see named here and verify what it is you see. But these screen shots are real. I guess Penn decided talking like this in "public" wasn't what he wanted to do.
UPDATE 4: No one really knows for sure, but there is some speculation that this isn't Penn's account. Penn might in fact man his own page, but it's not clear what's going on. I can say if it is a phony page, it is exceptionally well done.

I have to admit
that would be a classy move by BJ. Still the common theme of “he was a bit greased but kicked my ass anyway” leaves me a bit disappointed in GSP.

Get on facebook and verify it for yourself. I took this screen capture.

well
I’m not very familiar with facebook, but couldn’t someone else just create a facebook called “bj penn” and act like it’s really him.

lol. Clearly you’re not a Facebook expert.

And look at the picture he has for his Facebook account.

Some of the guys get their agents or staff to update the site for them. This does seem like BJ’s own words though. (for the questions about Facebook above)
by Benicio on Feb 2, 2009 4:47 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Not and have 1000s of friends
Facebook is pretty zealous about policing fake accounts. That’s B.J’s account.
by Kid Nate on Feb 2, 2009 3:36 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
sounds like him too. And it’s been widely known to be his account for a while I believe.

Oh
And yey for the person that said ‘why on earth would there be a rematch’
by subo on Feb 2, 2009 3:42 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
So now can we get past
the part about BJ saying he lost because GSP was greased & actually get to the point of why is GSP greased in apparently more than one of his fights?
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 3:42 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Come on Myth,
weren’t you the one just the other day saying why do we believe someone just because they say so? It is the American way. If five people all lodge the same complaint against you, you are guilty until proven otherwise.
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 3:46 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Wow
Are you really comparing this to the Varner thing?
wow…
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 4:54 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Pretty much.
You stated you could not believe him just because he said so. So yeah, this is basically the same issue at heart. One person denying something & people either believing blindly or not at all.
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 4:56 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I am a huge GSP mark
and even I cannot ignore multiple people making the same claims. Can they all just be sore losers, including Mayhem who made this claim in 2005?
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 4:57 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Ummmm
Varner is accused of lying to end a fight to his advantage, and people took his word later that he wasn’t lying as proof… How in the world does that get even close to this?
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:01 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
You are taking
GSP/corners word that this was not knowingly done. No similarities at all?
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:03 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
None at all… Varner is offering his word as proof that he didn’t lie (see the problem?). GSPs corner is saying something was an honest mistake (see how theres no problem there?)
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:06 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
An honest mistake
in five fights? This is ridiculous that five fighters make the same allegations & you refuse to even acknowledge there may be something there.
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:07 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
AGAIN
Proof of five fights. Otherwise you’re just talking shit.
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:08 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I am not talking anything.
I am making a logical inference about five people making the same assertions about a fighter. That does not seem like talk to me.
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:10 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
OK, so you are making the accusation based on no proof. At least I understand where you’re coming from now.
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:11 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Just five independent
statements, that is all. Varner is lying because he said he was hurt & could not continue & you do not believe because he was the one that said it?
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:12 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Good point. And how can you say that GSP knowingly greased (or greased at all) when Rashad Evans clearly knocked Chuck Liddel out?
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:19 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
What proof would work for you?
Because I think you are just in denial, and nothing will shake you out of stubbornly refusing to face facts.
by dualdiagnosis on Feb 2, 2009 4:56 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
How about … anything? Saying that he has greased up in ANY fights, let alone more than one, requires proof – real proof, not Smoogys bullshit gifs which have been proven to be misleading.
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:02 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
saying that you do not believe Varner
just because he said so without proof, seriously you see nothing here?
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:04 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Varner is accused of lying… to believe an accused liar is absurd.
Who lied in this case that you’re making any comparison?
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:05 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Varner was accused
of lying, GSP/his corner are accused of lying. Really? Not the same at all huh? hmmm
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:06 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
No one is accusing them of lying… Where did you get that? They admit it was done, you saw the video — it was obviously not intentional.
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:08 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Lying about it being intentional!!
Geeze, you really cannot be serious.
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:11 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Just what I expected, a non answer. Well done, back to the tissue box with you!
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:06 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I am picturing a "leave Brittney alone!" breakdown
coming on pretty strong from some in the Vaseline camp.
by dualdiagnosis on Feb 2, 2009 5:09 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
/shoo unless you have something to say. I heard BJ needs his feet rubbed, you better hurry.
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:11 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Way to man up BJ! Glad he realizes that he is not on the same level as GSP physically to be competing at 170 and doesn’t use the vasolene as an excuse to try and act like things would of went a different way without it. I hope this is his last excursion into the 170 lb division and now he can dedicate himself to dominating and cleaning out the 155 division.
by Buddha Brown on Feb 2, 2009 3:46 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Ok so now that BJ put that to rest for all the people claiming that this was just a ruse , and that BJ was making excuses.
Can we now address the Messiah’s GSP’s greasing ways?
by dualdiagnosis on Feb 2, 2009 4:43 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
whats to address? that your’e obviously a gsp hater. like SUBO said, someone could probably come up with hundreds of gifs of cornermen rubbing vaseline on fighters faces and then using those same hands to rub their shoulders, chest, back and legs. give it up.
by bdw on Feb 2, 2009 4:50 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Better yet,
what if this came up for a fighter that you dislike, what then? Personally, I love GSP but cannot ignore all of this.
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 4:54 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
give what up?
Calling for the rules to be followed?
by dualdiagnosis on Feb 2, 2009 4:54 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
it’s obvious that by calling gsp the messiah, that your opinion is blatantly biased.
by bdw on Feb 2, 2009 4:58 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
BJ Penn: The first man to be out boxed, out wrestled and out JJ’ed by a petroleum product.
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 4:56 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
You posted that to BJ's response?
BJ just said he was taking nothing away from GSP’s performance. Man, the blind furious hatred here is something to behold.
by dualdiagnosis on Feb 2, 2009 4:58 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
You truly are missing the point Myth.
GSP absolutely owned Penn. Having said that, you cannot overlook the fact that he was apparently greased up in this fight & maybe others. I would expect more from you. If Lesnar gets accused of this when he fights Mir you will be calling for his head!!
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 4:58 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Watch the video, not Smoogys bullshit gif. It is SUCH a non issue…
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:04 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
So when Lesnar
fights Mir in a few months & Mir says he was greasy we will not hear anything from you unless you see someone with globs of vaseline rubbing him down? Got it.
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:05 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
If Lesners corner man touches Lesnars back that long after touching the vaseline and rubbing his face, chin, temples, everything – then absolutely.
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:07 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
OK: THIS IS THE ONLY WARNING TO EVERYONE: EITHER THE TONE IMPROVES DRAMATICALLY IN PEOPLE'S POSTS ARE I CLOSE COMMENTS.
by Luke Thomas on Feb 2, 2009 4:59 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Seems odd that BJ has been called out to speak and act in all kinds of ways
in reaction to what GSP had on his body and not one peep out of GSP’s mouth?
What’s up with that?
by dualdiagnosis on Feb 2, 2009 5:07 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Sometimes things are too retarded to dignify with a response.
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:08 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Like five people accusing someone of
the exact same thing, they must all just be liars & sore losers.
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:09 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Are you saying there was no Vaseline applied to GSP's body?
by dualdiagnosis on Feb 2, 2009 5:10 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Nevermind Myth,
you are right. We should never suspect anyone of anything, especially when FIVE people all say the same thing about them. Everyone else is lying.
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:14 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I would believe Sadam Husseins dead body over BJ Penn fans claims on why he lost.
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:15 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
lol, I am a GSP fan!
I just do not like hearing this many people giving the same response. So until you saw the mass graves & videos of torture you still believed Saddam, right?
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:16 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
...
Are you now claiming that GSP tortured people and committed genocide?
by mythbuster on Feb 2, 2009 5:18 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Way to change the
topic, complete avoidance.
by dnevil001 on Feb 2, 2009 5:19 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Try being objective
instead of assuming anyone arguing this point is a BJ fan. Some of us are actually looking at this logically.
