Here is a list of female fighters that Strikeforce picked up from ProElite, and my hunch was correct, that they picked up Sarah Kaufman, which I am very happy about.

Mendez also released a list of female talent acquired in the purchase of ProElite assets.

Confirmed to fight in Strikeforce:

-Sarah Kaufman
-Shayna Baszler
-Debi Purcell
-Jan Finney
-Melanie Lacroix
-Katrina Alendal

Conspicuously missing was Kaitlin Young, the Minnesota Mixed Martial Arts prospect, who was defeated by Carano in a controversial stoppage at EliteXC’s first CBS televised event. Mendez said Strikeforce opted not to acquire Young out of a desire to develop lesser-seen fighters.

“We want to build up new talent,” he said.

There was also some news today about the addition of Shinya Aoki, Mach Sakurai, and Matsuhiro Ishida to Strikeforce events before the end of the year. Things are starting to pick up for Strikeforce in a major way and have two VERY solid cards planned out for the summer to make their big splash onto the MMA scene in 2009.

Two very nice cards being prepared. I wonder what Strikeforce’s connection to NBC is at this point.

Not much other than finish out their contract for their unleashed show later on this year.

Luke Rockhold = very solid prospect

by smoogy on Feb 18, 2009 7:14 PM EST reply actions

Agreed. Strikeforce has some young fighters that are very talented.

Totally.

Good to see “Fancy Pants” Beerbohm taking a (moderate) step up in competition too.
I was thinking he’d do well in the WEC before they axed the 170s.

I am glad Strikeforce picked up Aina, Quach, Taylor, Kaufman, and Fancy pants.
Those are some really good prospects.

That has to be the most pornstar name in all of MMA.

Very Excited

Affliction is a mess of a commercial (yes they are nothing but a commercial) and its nice to have a legit alternative to the UFC. Change of pace.

Very happy!!!!!!

When's the CBS card?

Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

I would assume that the MAY show MAY be the CBS show, if not, it will probably be later on in the summer. It will probably be on the EXACT same day that HBO has a big boxing event.

From the looks of these 2 cards I think we all (if we didn’t already) <3 Strikeforce now! :)

If its not allowed, then it would be interesting to see the difference of aoki with magic pants and without them.

Hahaha.

He can wear magic long tight shorts.
Probably would have the same effect he needs.
