The $150 experiment: Updated

OK, having been lured into the world of MMA gambling by Bloody Elbow, I have finally decided to put skin in the game and gamble $100. I used Bet US which didn't have the undercard bouts as options.

Here are my bets:

2 team parlay: Maia and Marquardt: Risk $50 to win $43.95

3 team parlay:  Maia, Marquardt and Stevenson: Risk $25 to win $117.22

4 team parlay: Maia, Marquardt, Stevenson and Markham: Risk $25 to win $266.55

My basic approach was this:

I pretty much think Maia and Marquardt are the strongest bets on the card. If I'm wrong on this, I blow my whole wad. But if I'm right on this, I pretty much cover the rest of my bets and end up down $6.05 for the whole extravaganza.

It seems like at every UFC event there is always at least one upset, and in this event, I think the best potential is Stevenson vs. Diego. With Sanchez dropping weight, I think Stevenson has a good shot, and his wrestling and heart are Diego's equal. For this reason, I pick Stevenson to add for my three team parlay at $25. If Maia, Marquardt and Stevenson comes in, I stand to pocket $160.

To test my accuracy and keep it interesting, I decided to also take a flyer on Markham, make it a foursome and have a chance at some real money at $266 + $160 = $426

Update: I have decided to hedge my bets by placing an addition $50 wager on a Maia-Marquardt-Sanchez trifecta, which pays out $68.51. As long as Marquardt and Maia both win, I should be in the black.
