Jake-shields

Gracie Fighter Comments On Dan Henderson and UFC Fighters Coming To Strikeforce:

Jake Shields was elated upon hearing the news Strikeforce had signed Dan Henderson. The Jiu-jitsu blackbelt has been on a 13 fight win streak and has steamrolled all challengers in Strikeforce and in the now defunct EliteXC show.

Dan Henderson is a big name fight. Having headlined several shows in Pride and in the UFC, the veteran is the type of fighter a true champion looks forward to facing. A win over the crafty fighter at the 185lbs weight would catapult Shields to the top of the world's pound for pound elite.

To Jake it's always been about testing himself and looking for the next challenge. In the past it seemed as if he would have to go to the UFC in order to do that. Fortunately it now seems that the UFC's best could very well be coming to him.

Umm
Today, Henderson told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) that he wouldn’t be surprised if more top-level fighters follow his example and explore options outside of the sport’s biggest promotion.

“It’s inevitable,” Henderson said.

You never know.

Laughter

On top of the suggestion that Shields shoots to the top of P4P conversations with a win over Hendo. Who comes up with this stuff?

LOL

The UFC has the top 170lbs fighters for Shields. He is NOT a middleweight, just Strikeforce is so weak, he had to move up.

Was weak. Getting a lot better now.

I am prepared to ripped into

But if Jake Shields beats Hendo we have to seriously start re-evaluating how good a ww he really is. I’m not saying we could start saying he’s better than GSP but he would have to be the next best thing.

On his resume he would have beaten Daley, Condit, and Sakurai at WW. That’s #8,#10, and #17.
Even more impressive is that have moved up to fight at a disadvantage against bigger opponents and still have beaten Lawler, miller, Okami and now Hendo – the # 3 mw in the world! That would be a more impressive win then even any of GSPs!

My prediction: Hendo kills him.

He fought Okami at WW.

It was actually a 175 lb tournament, but you’re right he didn’t beat Okami at 185.

Correct

You need to state this every time someone bashes Jake Shields.

I’m not a fan of his but he’s shut me up enough that I have to admit he’s for real. That being said I think Hendo will kill him.

I actually want to see Jacare vs Shields first. Hendo will be too big and too strong for Shields, most likely.

I agree. Plus a Jacare-Hendo fight holds lot more interest for me (I think you can infer who i’m picking in Jacare vs Shields).
