we’ve heard of cutting him off. No one thinks it was a leap forward for MMA, just a leap forward for Kimbo. Dana is a soulless beast who jealously promotes his business and company. It’s the best way to run a successful business. Yes Kimbo’s next fight might be another amazingly hand picked fight that he’ll struggle to try and shine through, but that’s why people like underdogs. The “Rocky Syndrome” if you please. I too, hope that Joe Rogan was just towing the company line with his comments, but while Kimbo will never be a true belt carrying champion in the UFC, he might be able to transform himself into an everyman icon of sorts. I started out not a fan of his, but after his loss to Seth and subsequent stint on the TV series, I gained a lot of respect for him. Not for his losses, but for his willingness to try and learn…and not because of his willingness to try on the show, but because he went with a respectable MMA gym and put forth the effort to try and learn. All of that said, I find it very suspect that he: a) didn’t learn any ground skills with Bas Rutten and b) had very suspect cardio after said stint with other legendary great trainers (there was Bas’ group and admittedly I don’t know who the trainers are at America Top Team, but the gotta be good, right?). Anyways, troquezz, I don’t disagree with you totally about the level of Kimbo’s competition, but if Dana wants to make money off of him and not end up looking like the Shaws, he’d better push Ferg toward a reputable gym that will make him do the weight cuts and do everything he can to keep him there. God knows he could never be a commentator.
