Frankie Edgar, the #5 ranked lightweight in the world according to the USAT/SBN Consensus MMA Rankings risked his contender status against the dangerous but utterly unheralded Matt Veach at tonights Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale. But he passed the test with only a little trouble, winning by submission in the second round.
Veach came out looking for a takedown, but Edgar stuffed the shots of the bigger man, until about one minute in when Veach slammed Edgar hard to the mat. A minute later Veach did it again when Edgar fought his way to his feet. They traded shots for the remainder of the round with neither fighter taking a clear advantage.
In the second, they came out trading and Edgar seemed to be scoring the cleaner shots. He caught Veach with a hard shot to the chin with about three minutes left. Edgar followed Veach down and scored with ground and pound before working for the fight ending RNC.
