The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale Results: Matt Mitrione Knocks Out Marcus Jones

Photo by Dave Mandel via Sherdog

The bad guy won one on tonight's Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale when Matt "Meathhead" Mitrione knocked out Marcus "The Darkness" Jones in the second round.

Tonight's Spike TV broadcast opened with a grudge match between two NFL veterans who competed on the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter.

The initial action saw Marcus Jones score an early take down of Matt Mitrione but fail to capitalize, letting Mitrione get back to his feet. Soon after Jones got a second take down and threatened with a guillotine choke but again, failed to submit his opponent. Jones got another two take downs before the round expired but failed to finish and ate some punches standing from Mitrione.

In the second Mitrione caught Jones quickly with a right hand and finished the former NFL #1 draft pick.

Makes me sad, but Jones shouldn't do MMA anymore.

I don’t know if he shouldn’t do MMA in that it is his choice, but he is just old to be starting added with the wear and tear he received from professional football (unlike a Shane Carwin or Aaron Simpson who started late). Big Baby’s standup is atrocious, and the sad thing is that Mitrione seemed to be a “gimme” fight for Big Baby. Jones obviously likes MMA, and if he started earlier, he could have turned out to be pretty good.
The funny thing is that Mitrione didn’t look too bad in this fight in that he seemed to have lost weight and seemed more composed. It just goes to show how badly being in the TUF house affects these fighters.

Some guys are born to be fighters, others are not.

No matter how much training he gets or how skilled he gets, Big Baby will always have a terrible chin. Mitrione didn’t even land solid and Big Baby was out like a light. That’s the third time he has been KO’d in his short career, and he’s getting KO’d by guys that aren’t all that great.

I wish him the best whatever he decides to do, but Big Baby does not have much of a future in the sport.

I hate this

I really took to big baby during the show and truly wanted him to get a few more fights in. I still think he could be a handy undercarder but I don’t think he would be down with that. His chin just won’t let him stand and trade.
At least I still have sotiropoulos and credeur to look forward to for non-cookie cutter undercarder action.
