Late Night Fights: Mizuto Hirota vs. Satoru Kitaoka

Again, apologies for the spotty nature of this feature. I really should have waited until after the holidays to start it as my schedule is just so irregular lately. We'll get on track soon though!

I'm not going to waste too many words tonight. Tonight's fight is just a warm-up for Dynamite!!

Between this fight and the Masvidal fight, Kitaoka has taken an absolute beating his last couple of fights.

It’s partially because he’s been figured out on the ground and he doesn’t set-up his takedowns at all.

Hirota will have more problems with Aoki for a number of reasons. Aoki’s striking is better than Kitaoka’s (marginally), he doesn’t shoot from the outside, instead he works for his takedowns inside the clinch. Aoki’s cardio is not suspect and I believe his attack on the ground is far more varied (whereas Kitaoka is a bit too foot happy), which gives Hirota more things to worry about should he end up inside Aoki’s guard, or on the bottom.

I think Hirota will give a valiant performance, but ultimately, Aoki will emerge the victor.

Hearing Kitaoka repeatedly gasping for air adds a lot to the viewing of the fight. Hopefully the uploading of more SRC HD quality fights on youtube continues after Dynamite…
