Quote of the Day 2: Dustin Hazelett Talks UFC 108 Opponent Paul Daley
"I’ve taken a lot of fights on short notice and I usually do well with it.
"It’s the co-main event. It’s bigger; it’s more exposure. (Daley) is ranked higher now (after his win over Martin Kampmann last September at UFC 103); bigger in that sense."Being a grappler, my path of least resistance is almost always on the ground," he stated. "With him being an excellent striker, his easiest path to victory is usually on the feet. But, it’s mixed martial arts. You have to be able to go anywhere and fight anywhere. I’ve been working a lot on my Muay Thai the last couple of years; I think it’s a good test for me."
Dustin Hazelett talks to MMA Weekly about his UFC 108 opponent Paul "Semtex" Daley.

I just don’t see Hazelett having the wrestling to get Daley to the ground. This is Daley’s fight to lose.
Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

The Clinch
i think paul is going to win this fight in the clinch, and dustin isn’t going to be able to take paul down.

The UFC is praying for a Daley win for sure. A fighter that talks that much shit and throws that much heat on the feet = $$$ for days.

Dustin is a really tall welterweight
with crazy range. He impressed me with his blitz attack on Koscheck but that won’t work on Daley. But I expect he’ll get the takedown on Semtex.

Hoping to see a good competitive fight that only helps both guys in the long run, as I’m a big fan of both, but realistically all I can see is Hazelett crumpled on the canvas before he’s really had a chance to try and do anything. Especially if he’s actually thinking of using some of his Muay Thai.

I agree...
…Kampmann has great standup and we all saw what happened to him when he tried exchanging with Semtex. I can only hope Hazelett has the presence of mind to take Semtex down should he get in trouble… I too expect Hazelett to get it to the ground.
Covered my (brief, obvious) thoughts on this matchup down below.
Now I need to ask: is he bucking for a mustache wax sponsorship or what? With a year’s worth of growth on that face-carpet, will he come into the checkpoint looking like a ZZ Top tribute act or what?

that sucks, but
I wasn’t really interested in the rematch anyway. I don’t think anyone was except Kos. Maybe if Hazellet or Daley pull a quick win and take no damage, they can compete on the 109 card.

I totally was but just because it cleans up their ranking… why don’t you? same result you think?
