I have to say that I am not surprised. I would have liked to see what could have happened with him because he was a natural athlete but he didn’t seem like a guy who took losing well. Who knows….maybe he will take a little bit and come back.

just about the only guy I actually cared about this past season of TUF.

I agree
while i found the majority of the show to be really boring, Jones was the only one who really got me out of my seat and cheering after his victory. It’s a shame that a person with such a charismatic personality stops so soon

Thats sad. But even if he may want to continue I dont think his body would let him. He took alot of abuse during his NFL days. He could have been great had he discovered MMA 5 years before he did.
I’d like to see him as a spokesman for MMA, the UFC should just send him to hearings across the country were MMA is still illegal. I think he’s likable enough to do some good for the sport.

It was cool seeing ex NFL players give this a shot
but no surprise here.
I really enjoyed Marcus on TUF
it’s too bad he came to the sport so late. He had a very interesting approach to the game. The mix of judo and jiu jitsu he was developing is a potent one.

He was by far the most compelling competitor on the last season. I’d really like to see what he could do if he entered the sport jiu-jitsu circuit. I don’t expect him to gogoplata Drysdale or anything, but I think it would be fun and allow him to continue tangentially in the sport he loves so much.

Marcus was a nice guy..
That has to sting..getting KTFO by Mitrone then retiring after how much he disliked him..
that pic is hilarious.
Marcus looking like a nightmare and Mitrione with the ever present ‘just woke up from a 14 hour nap and doesn’t know what’s going on’ look on his face.

This guy coulda been a contender (and potentially a BIG draw) if only a couple of things were different. Like others have said, he was the only personality (but not the only fighter) I liked from the show. I think all the hits in football wore out what may have been a great chin once. His size and obvious quick learning of the ground game could have made him a real force if he started earlier. Damn you NFL!
I can die happy now that I've been to a UFC event. 107 rocked

Getting knocked out so easily by both Mitrione and Schaub really showed how poor his standup defense is. If only he started sooner, then he could have had the potential to go far.
yeah, i wouldnt say that he didn’t have a chin because he got knocked out by those two, just what you said, that he had no standup defense… both of those guys are powerful enough to knock out anyone with the clean shots they had.
I’d like to see how Marcus would perform in grappling comps and abu dhabi, it seems like his strength would be such a massive advantage
