Late Night Fights: Mamoru Yamaguchi Double Header

YamaguchiThe "holiday rush" got in the way of a post going up last night so to make it up to you I come bearing a Mamoru Yamaguchi doubleheader.  Yamaguchi is one of those Shooto fighters who it's a shame more American fans are not aware of.  In his career he fought at Flyweight and Bantamweight, winning the Shooto title in both weight classes.

Rather than try to explain why Mamoru is so awesome, let's take a look at a couple of his fights.

He reminds me of the Japanese guy with the fro from Ong Bak.

i've seen him before

is he in the Bantamweight division? I believe he’s a current champ of DEEP.

I would love to see him fighting in WEC.

He’s a flyweight and is not the DEEP champ – he has never competed there and DEEP doesn’t have a flyweight belt.

Yeah, Mamoru definitely needs more love from MMA fans outside of Japan. Very exciting fighter and a quality fighter, at that.
