Hold the f**k on

This is not the same trash that I’m used to from the UFC. Has the UFC finally made a Promo that I like? Where’s the “Only on Pay Per Viewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww” guy? Nicely done I must say.

eh… AC/DC… Really?

I guess we differ in taste.

by Sventsh on Dec 23, 2009 5:10 PM EST up reply actions

AC/DC is classic, son. CLASSIC.

Light years better than the usual Rock-Rap nonsense that Dana White loves so much.

Well, I guess.

I am old enough (by quite a margin) to perceive AC/DC as classic.

And I guess you right in that it contrasts favourably to rap metal, the second being a sin. (Unless we are talking about Swedish rap metal pioneers Clawfingers, of course.)

by Sventsh on Dec 23, 2009 5:57 PM EST up reply actions

Indeed. Too bad they couldn't find a main event

still, all those fights are sick.

For some reason, I’m interested in Junior Dos Santos vs. Gilbert Yvel. Maybe its because’s Yvel’s reputation as an insane person.

As am I

It’s liking going to a party because that one nutcase is going to show up, and you just have to see who he starts a brawl with.

WOW, they dress up a turd with fancy lights and music and everyone falls for it. The machine is in effect. Doesnt matter though this will bomb and get very low PPV buys.

Dude

No one said they were ordering it based on seeing the video. They said they liked the promo and a couple of the fights. And I’d bet if you’d ask, they’d tell you they like the fights exactly as much now as they did before seeing the video.

I am not a UFC/Zuffa basher by any means but come on if Strikeforce put on a card like this everyone would say how crappy it is. This card is packed with fighters that couldnt cut it in “lesser” organizations. Ludwig? Are you kidding me this guy was fighting Strikeforce Prelims a few months back. Yvel? Was getting slaughtered by Barnett in Affliction. Stout? YAWN!!!!! Daley just lost in MFC. Rashad got Ko’d in his last fight and Thiago is one firght removed from getting dominated. And dont get me started about the IFL undercard.

Yes you are.

And if SF put on a show like this, it would hailed as one of the most import in its history.

But they dont have that many Top guys.

by SidHartman on Dec 23, 2009 6:17 PM EST up reply actions

Daley just lost in MFC.

No, I believe Daley “just” knocked out three consecutive opponents.

Any new conspiracy theories about Dana trying to brainwash the masses with his fancy new promos?

O you mean the Fanpost I had predicting all of those crazy things that would never happen, O wait I forgot they all did.

Also
This card is packed with fighters that couldnt cut it in "lesser" organizations.

Who exactly are these fighters? Ludwig? He just won in a lesser organization, and before being submitted by Beerbohm (who is a legitimate LW prospect), he knocked off two UFC veterans in Yves Edwards and Sam Morgan.

Packed…really? Who else? Yvel…he just knocked out Pedro Rizzo. Stout? The best you have is “yawn”? What happened to "not cutting it in lesser organizations? Now you’re changing your criteria to boring fights? You can’t seem to keep your faulty arguments straight. Do tell which other fighters couldn’t hack it in lesser organizations in their last fights…or is it that they’re boring…or that they smell bad…or that they fight for the UFC?

You’re back!

Keep firing Assholes!

Fedor has accomplished nothing until he fights Kimbo.

Turd? Okay, it doesn’t have GSP or Lesnar or any of the other superstars, but it’s a solid card of fights.

I love me some Sexyama!

That’s the best UFC commercial I can remember ever seeing.

Awesome promo video.

Did anyone else notice that when they were listing the fighters, they tried to pass off Rashad’s head kick KO as one of Yvel’s??

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

by MMAussie on Dec 23, 2009 7:29 PM EST reply actions

i saw that too!

Between Yvel and McLovin they throw in the Rashad KO. I guess they thought they could trick someone. It kinda stands out when all of Gilbert’s highlights are in a ring though. Ha.

by zakkree on Dec 23, 2009 7:46 PM EST up reply actions

after watching it a second time...

They show Dos Santos too. Maybe just shitty editing.

by zakkree on Dec 23, 2009 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

ill stop replying to myself one day...

Dos Santos belongs there, Rashad does not. Man i wish i could edit posts to avoid looking like an idiot.

I'm just gonna come out and admit it

I’m probably buying this card.

I know, I know. Cursed by gypsies. 50% chance my TV explodes and kills me while I’m watching. But after being inundated in ugly sweaters and fruitcake a week prior I will be all about wasting a couple bucks on something I might actually sort of want.

They’re not star-powered matchups, but I’m too curious about how they go not to tune in. I actually prefer this main event to Tito / Forrest 2. Thiago OR Rashad could soundly beat either of those fighters IMO, despite their lesser-known names.

If they’re good enough for Fedor, they should be good enough for you, mortal. :-P

Honestly, this card is a hardcore fans dream.

The card might not have the star power normally associated with the UFC, but every one one of those fights looks like a barn burner. Styles make fights, and there are a ton of interesting style matchups on the card.

If you are a star fucker, then this card is probably not for you, but if you like watching crazy fights then this card should deliver.

I’m definitely in agreement with the commenters upthread. Why didn’t BE report that Zuffa had hired a new marketing team, only this time competent?

Lol

Am I the only one who noticed they showed Evans KO during the Dos Santos/Yvel portion of the trailer?

I actually thought this was pretty neat! Hazelett is definitely the odd man out with the whole “knockout power” theme, but otherwise, good work.
