We really shouldn’t show full-page scans of publications.

Yeah, agreed…but I hope this would encourage people to buy GI since the resolution is pure crap. =)

Yeah, definitely

The last remaining quality gaming publication.

Totally agree.

It’s the only one I still check out.

Randy looks weird in that pic (is that Randy?)

but i’m still pumped with this game!

That is what I was thinking. And Munson doesn’t look nearly fire-pluggy enough.

Thanks for the fixed up post Nick!

by MMASuPreMaCy on Dec 22, 2009 3:29 PM EST reply actions

I think that looks more like Royce, then Randy, although i know it isnt him

by Fedorable on Dec 22, 2009 3:31 PM EST reply actions

Yeah, they need to fix up some of those face models. Fedor needs some touch ups as well.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Dec 22, 2009 3:34 PM EST up reply actions

yup thats the first person I thought of when I saw that pic.

Monson's been on a diet I see.

The art style in this game does nothing for me, but I am far more excited about this game than I was about UFC 2009.

The texturing of Monson’s tattoos is excellent.

If EA can make an MMA game like Fight night 4 was to boxing. EA has got a winner

Agreed. Plus a good “create a fighter” to create some fighters that may not be in it.

by jcbrewer on Dec 22, 2009 4:43 PM EST up reply actions

Fight Night 4 is garbage. FN3 is still the best boxing game to date.

i disagree

I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.

by Loot on Dec 22, 2009 5:36 PM EST up reply actions

I just hope they get one thing right.

I hope that when the fighters hands are raised or stretched out, then so is there chest. The physics for ufc 09 were horribly last generation. And nothing bothered me more then when the fighter raised his arm, and his pecs didn’t stretch out.

by ontite on Dec 22, 2009 4:15 PM EST reply actions

thats the last thing i think they need to do

by cagefightonacid on Dec 22, 2009 4:22 PM EST up reply actions

Ugh the graphics need improving

but I am still very excited for this game.

by fozo on Dec 22, 2009 4:28 PM EST reply actions

i'm really pleased

they’re using the FNR4 engine for the game. Undisputed’s main problem for me was the rubbish stand up. It was simple Rockem sockem robots and was pretty frustrating. The spinning sub’s were also frustrating too, to be honest. Hopefully the FN striking aspect will allow for far more fluid combo’s and the ground game will be thought out slightly more than undisputed was. It sounds like i hated undisputed, i actually quite liked it…it just wasnt what i was really hoping for.

Firmly settled in the uncanny valley.

Keep firing Assholes!

Fedor has accomplished nothing until he fights Kimbo.

Finally

I’ve had this issue for a week or two now, been waiting for something to pop up. The scans really do the pictures no justice, the models look good overall, especially for something so early in production. One thing I’m curious about is them putting all stricking on the right analog stick. I know the controlls are fully customizable, but it sounds like it’s either gonna be REALLY fluid, or just weird.

I will KILL for a demo.

by Kaleb Kelchner on Dec 22, 2009 5:56 PM EST reply actions

i can see it being pretty fluid

FN is obviously the same as far as the right analog, the only difference being you’ll hold one of the triggers for kicks i’d imagine, analog down/up for leg/body and head kicks. I’m hoping the striking is as fluid as FN because if it is we have a serious game on our hands. Randy doesn’t look like Randy but i thought Fedor and Rogers looked really impressive.

Man I thought that was Bas not Randy

Although I do think that Brett and Fedor looked pretty good.

Randy looks like Emperor Palpatine on HGH.

I thought it was a huge Royce Gracie vs. Krystof Soszynski

by casey manrique on Dec 22, 2009 6:59 PM EST up reply actions

RIGHT!

I thought it’s Krystoff.. didn’t notice it until i read monson here.

Skadoosh!

by Jigs on Dec 23, 2009 9:52 AM EST up reply actions

Looks to me like Monson stretched up to 6’3 vs skinny Fujita. That’s Randy? Why does he look Asian?

Unless this game has some amazing features/gameplay it looks like it’s going to be completely blown out of the water by the next UFC game. The graphics definitely aren’t impressive, and the roster is obviously lukewarm. Since THQ has the base for the new game built already, it’ll take a lot less effort to add stuff like fighting on the cage or tweak/improve the physics/ground game.

The only way the EA game becomes a buy for me is an amazing character creator with a solidly better featureset.

Games not set to release until September 2010, they have some time.
=)

by MMASuPreMaCy on Dec 22, 2009 9:55 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, a lot of people don’t seem to realize that.

by CSKit on Dec 22, 2009 9:57 PM EST up reply actions

I think they realize that they just don’t care. The shots they picked to put out to impress people with how good the game looks aren’t that impressive, that’s not the people who aren’t imrpessed fault it’s the people who chose those screen shots.

by who me on Dec 22, 2009 11:16 PM EST up reply actions

But I thought you said they have been working on it for YEARS!

Guillotine.

by iiowyn on Dec 23, 2009 9:42 AM EST up reply actions

Yup, it takes years to make a game.
