Slow down mo
There’s a HUGE leap from who you’ve been fighting to fighting Fedor. But in a year or two I could see it happening.

Yo
After this and the Stone Cold Steve Austin tribute, I’ve become a King Mo fan. HILARITY.

Resist the Wrestling Credential Hype
I was impressed with Kind Mo’s performance—even if it was against a seemingly out of shape Whitehead. But the line I am already tired of being fed is that King Mo is the most-credentialed wrestler to enter MMA. This is not only false but silly. Even if we set aside the old guard wrestlers like Severn, Henderson, Couture,Coleman, Kerr, and Lindland—who were Olympic quality wrestlers—I don’t see how anyone could think King Mo has a more storied collegiate and/or international experience that Rosholt (3 x D1 National Champion), Koscheck (4x D1 All-American who finished 4th, 2nd, 1st, and 3rd, respectively), Cormier (2x JuCo champ, D1 runner-up, 5 x National Team Member, and 2004 Olympian), Lesnar (1x JuCo Champion and 1x D1 Champion), and Askren (4x D1 All-American, 2x D1 runner-up, 2x D1 champion, 2008 Olympian). Given the number of elite wrestlers who have competed in MMA is simply untrue to claim—ad nauseum—that King Mo is the best wrestler to give MMA a try. Indeed, unless we use “few” very expansively, I don’t even think he is one of the few best. Of course, he may still be a hell of a fighter, but I am already tired of hearing about his supposedly unparalleled wrestling credentials.

He does have a point....
about those who would compare a NCAA champ to someone who’s wrestled and won on the world level.
That said, I also agree he’s not the most credentialed wrestler to ever try MMA. Kevin Jackson won a gold in the 1992 Olympics, Matt Lindland won a silver in 2000. Even among current MMA fighters, I’d argue Ben Askren has a better amateur wrestling pedigree.
But have enjoyed the two fights I’ve seen King Mo fight.

International wrestling is 85 times tougher than the NCAAs
Mo would destroy Rosholt, Koscheck, probably Brock too in pure wrestling (I think he could probably take Brock down). Askren and Cormier are olympians, and Joe Warren would have been if he didn’t smoke the ganja (former world champ); Mo would agree they are as good as him (not sure why he didnt shout out Askren, but Askren is kind of a funny style wrestler). RE: the old school guys, Greco guys tend to be not as good as freestylers, generally, so scratch Hendo, Couture, Lindland (although he’s a world silver medalist and olympic silver- real freaking good). Mark Coleman was really a good freestyler and Severn and Kerr are pretty strong. But Mo is so many levels above a Gray Maynard, a Frankie Edgar, even a Munoz……
I should say Mo’s resume is deceiving; he blew the 06 World Trials getting caught on a late leg attack, lost in 07 going up to 96 kg to Cormier, and blew the trials in 08…in my opinion he started training MMA too early, and actually lost solely based on gameplan in the olympic trials. But he did outstanding on the international circuit; beaten olympic champs, won super tough tourneys….minus a weird fake call at the end, he actually beat a guy who beat Cael Sanderson in the 03 world finals.
He is an excellent excellent excellent wrestler. And as a wrestler, very hard to take down. I guess he’s arrogant (I’ve been a HUGE fan of his for a long time); but if he’s telling the truth….

Man this guy grates on me. He really thinks his wrestling is the in the top 5 of MMA and that no one can take him down? There is such a difference in being confident and arrogant Mo.
I’ll say this though, his attitude and cockiness will surely make him a money maker in this sport.

personally
he bugs me too… i can get behind wanting to make money, but calling yourself a moneyweight and only talking about getting paid is not interesting to me and i believe if you’re in mma for money, eventually you’re going to lose badly because you’re in it for the wrong reason. maybe i’m being delusional but the best people in any sport, LOVE the sport.

And yet everyone still loves dan and Randy. You people to realize this is prizefighting.

I wanna see him face higher competition
sure whiteheads a tough fighter but he looked real fat and outta shape as beens said many times unfortunetly strikeforce’s lhw division is so weak and thin theres not many options for him
The fact is the UFC light heavy division is by far the best in the entire sport id love to see him fight rich franklin or jardine or maybe forrest griffin to see how he compares to that higher level of lhw that are a step or two off of the elites cause he definetly not ready for mousasi, machida or shogun yet
I mean whitehead was lackluster in his fight with randleman but he has always been a tubby i doubt he was out of shape training with wandy. King Mo has me convinced can’t argue with someone who just beat a fighter on a big winning streak. Have him fight bobalu or maybe MILLER Battle of the egomaniacs .
Miller?
Im pretty sure that this thing called weight classes will prevent that.
