Roy Nelson's Interesting Update

Ept_sports_mma_experts-166786256-1259766660_medium

From Roy Nelson's Twitter feed and Facebook status update.

Steve Cofield at  Cagewriter comments:

TUF 10 closes with two episodes tonight on Spike. James McSweeney battles an unknown opponent. Is it Matt Mitrione or Kimbo Slice? In the other quarterfinal, Darrill Schoonover faces Marcus Jones. Nelson and Brendan Schaub are waiting in the semifinals which will be aired in hour two. It would be highly unusual for a semifinalist from TUF to be left off a Finale card, but maybe Nelson irked White so much during the season and in the aftermath that he told "Big Country" to stay in his garage.

I'm aware that Wikipedia and Fighters Only have already posted the results but please, NO SPOILERS in this thread.

He also has another cryptic tweet when talking to demico
Demico: Been good Roy, hows training going?
Roy: Training is good, I will let you know after this weekend how good training was. How are things with you?

by Anton Tabuena on Dec 2, 2009 2:13 PM EST reply actions

This could be a typo. Do you have any idea how many athletes and celebrities have their agencies run their twitter/facebook? Some intern who knows nothing about MMA could have messed this up.

by ryanwk628 on Dec 2, 2009 2:20 PM EST reply actions

Roy Nelson with an agent/intern would be the most awesome thing ever.

The number of fighters who have agencies run their Twitter? Zero.

Nah, I remember on the Jason Ellis show a fighter was on there and Ellis asked him if he had Twitter. The fighter said no and his agent/manager guy came in and said “actually you do, I started it a few weeks ago.” Cant remember which fighter it was.

by ryanwk628 on Dec 2, 2009 2:30 PM EST up reply actions

That’s a very rare thing indeed. There’s a chance the agent started the Twitter account, but I know of zero fighters who are not currently updating their own Twitter accounts.

Lyoto's dad manages his twitter

I mean c’mon, did you see the denim gi he wore last fight? the guy is as mainstream as they come

"I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight what you saw, in the ring"

by crinow on Dec 2, 2009 4:54 PM EST up reply actions

I’ve seen posts from Lyoto’s account admitting certain posts weren’t from him. I’m betting he sits down with someone for 20 minutes here and there and they type his answers in for him.

Giving Shogun his props. I had the fight 48-47 Machida but Shogun put up a monumental performance and I am honored to have seen it in person.

by Day Man on Dec 2, 2009 5:41 PM EST up reply actions

Lyoto posts himself,

and at the times where people tweet for him, it is stated that it is not from lyoto.. but im sure if he doesn’t understand some of the english parts, his PR person helps him out a bit.

by Anton Tabuena on Dec 2, 2009 7:22 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t think Roy has an “agency”, I was under the impression he kinda does his own thing.

by ufc4 on Dec 2, 2009 2:25 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Yea, Roy prob dosent have an agent, but dont all fighters have managers? There is conflicting information out on the internet. I still think this could be BS.

by ryanwk628 on Dec 2, 2009 2:31 PM EST up reply actions

I’m not sure if all of them do or not. Probably most but I doubt if it’s 100%.

Glad I read this so I can avoid Wikipedia now.

Its Roy being Roy, he is amusing his self. Don’t read anything into it. Have to seen spoilers?

Well even if Roy is in the finale, he’s not in every fight… He could be talking about watching the rest of the card… Main event after all is hamill/jones

by kanodogg on Dec 2, 2009 2:30 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Oh and even if Roy loses in semi finals I doubt Dana would have him stay home just cause h doesn’t like him, ufc has had alot of injuries/problems with fighters.

Roy’s Night #1, roy is taking on everybody, one after the other.

He tweeted that first..

Deleted the tweet, then posted the same thing from facebook last night..

by Anton Tabuena on Dec 2, 2009 2:46 PM EST up reply actions

why would he delete it and put it back out there?

by Erich Vowell on Dec 2, 2009 2:47 PM EST up reply actions

Caus I guess his Twitter account doesn't automatically update his facebook,

But his face book does. So if he wants to put it on both, he just has to use his facebook.

But for whatever reason, he posted on twitter first. Then deleted the double message.

Spoiler of main page

The entire reason that this is newsworthy and was posted on the homepage is the fact that Big Country is apparently intimating that he will lose in the semifinals on tonight’s not yet aired 2 hour semifinal end of season special.

Either Roy is a moron, or is really trying to bend the rules here to piss of the UFC brass.

No fighter, who is fighting on Saturday would say, “Can’t wait to watch the fights Saturday”

by savage animal on Dec 2, 2009 2:33 PM EST reply actions

I guess it is. Everyone just needs to avoid freaking out, because Roy’s comments mean nothing in regards to the outcome of the show.

I guess it doesn’t matter. In five or six hours, everyone will know.

How is this a spoiler?

He’s looking forward to watching the fights on the finale. So what. He trained with a lot of the guys that will be fighting, and wants to see them in action. It doesn’t mean that he also won’t be fighting. Simmer down whistle blowers.

Have people never seen a Roy Nelson message before?

The guy could tweet/facebook that Tank Abbott was his new coach and people would buy it.

Nelson gets off on getting a rise out of people.

by Scott Haber on Dec 2, 2009 3:02 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Jeeze...

Quit yer bitchin people. There’s no spoiler. And if somehow, Roy is that dumb to post that, and it isn’t some cryptic message…get mad at him, not BE.

I actually got the results spoiled by watching the show! The other day i was flicking through the channels and i saw TUF10 was on, and i figured it would be a repeat because it wasn’t screened in the states last week. Nope. I changed it over right into the last semi-final fight.

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

by MMAussie on Dec 2, 2009 4:33 PM EST reply actions

you aussies must not record tv… the only episode i found was the remaining two quaterfinals taken from an arabian source…..

by zakkree on Dec 2, 2009 4:38 PM EST up reply actions

Yeh after watching the end of the last episode i tried torrenting both of them and found nothing. It’s probably because this is the first time in Australian history that we have actually screened a U.S show before America.

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

by MMAussie on Dec 2, 2009 4:41 PM EST up reply actions

thanksgiving ruined everything basically. damn us americans.

by zakkree on Dec 2, 2009 4:45 PM EST up reply actions

It did ruin everything. I think I’m going to try and start an Australian tradition where, for one day out of the year, we give thanks for not having to celebrate thanksgiving. I’ll call it, “Thanks, but no thanks, day.”

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.
