Late Night Fights: Takeya Mizugaki vs. Kenji Osawa

With WEC 45 just a few days away I figured it was a good time to take a look at one of the fighters on the card in his earlier days. Conveniently enough I've gone with Takeya Mizugaki's scrap with fellow WEC fighter Kenji Osawa in Shooto at Korakuen Hall. Coming into this fight on November 10, 2006 Takeya Mizugaki was 6-0-1. Kenji Osawa was playing the role of the older veteran with his 11-5-1 record.

This fight is far from a technical masterpiece but it is a damn fun brawl.

Tonight's fun fact: This was the only fight on the card that did not go to a decision.

Not the greatest display of head movement I have ever seen

but I watched it twice and enjoyed it both times.

Would love to see Shooto fights as a regular part of this segment. Im aware of a lot of fighters coming out of shooto but i cant say ive seen a lot of the fights.

Dude..

At least in UFC when he was wobbling and could barely walk the second time the ref wouldve stopped it. Serious brain damage. Its like they wan to get cuncussed.

So Shooto utilises a standing 8 count? I’m sure I’ve seen videos of Shooto fights before and never noticed that. Really looking forward to the Mizugaki fight on Saturday.

I miss the old balls-to-the-wall Osawa.

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
