Mariusz Pudzianowski says "I want Lesnar"

Pudzianowski may potentially fight Aleksander Emelianenko or Bob Sapp next according to the KSW promotion.

HT: fighting-fit.com

UPDATE: A Polish reader is saying this translation is not correct. These are apparently his real words:

"I never said anything about any fight against Lesnar. It’s too early and there is still a long road ahead of me. I’m nobody’s property and nobody has a right to say anything about my future fights on my behalf. It is me who decides who I’m going to fight next, not some promotions or MMA organisations. If anybody wants to gain attention using my name, he made a big mistake. I run my fighting career and that’s all I wanted to say"

Marius...

beat some actual competition. Take the Bobby Lashley route.

In before someone says “OH WELL BROCK DIDN”T N HE GOT A TITLE SHOT"

Marius is a beast worlds strongest man on the planet 5x, he would throw brock or lashley around like a rag doll, he is incredibly quick and athletic and flexible also.Only person in mma that would have brocks respect, since he is so much stronger than brock

I saw let him fight Mir,

then we can continue to hear Mir bitch about how he was out-muscled, which is the only reason his god-like technical abilities weren’t on display for the W.

something tells me this guy is too muscalar for mma.

his punches will be slow and predictable. he would be eaten alive by anyone who had good strikes. but i like the fact the more people from different area of sports want to do mma.

His hands *might* be slow,

but his leg kicks were vicious and to the point. I wouldn’t say blindingly fast, but they got delivered in a hurry.

A few pages back there's a youtube embed of his first MMA fight.

Could be a good one. What I liked about this guy was that he used leg kicks in his fight. Not something you see too much from heavyweights. Lesnar was moved to the front of the line, this guy could provide some theatrics and entertainment too.

you mean kicks to the ass of his opponent…

From what I saw of his standup

Pudzianowski is one of the few heavyweights in the world that Lesnar could legitimately pick apart on the feet. And I’m quite sure the strength difference isn’t so great that he could take down a far superior wrestler.

by Trysdor on Dec 16, 2009 1:29 PM EST reply actions

he just needs some experience and good camp, and yes the strenght difference between him and brock is huge.

by dat on Dec 16, 2009 4:48 PM EST up reply actions

the strenght difference between him and brock is huge

word.

for anyone that hasn’t seen him compete in WSM you are missing out. Even the difference between Mariusz and the guys who finish in the bottom 3 is HUGE.

I see what you are saying

But the event is all held on one day, and there are usually several different events that go for a few minutes (Well that is being generous. some go for 30 seconds others a few minutes)

So at the very least it is good training for fighting rounds, as you are doing an anaerobic activity in intervals at maximum effort. Mariusz’ cardio is what got him the win alot of the time as he was able to perform consistently throughout the event.

That's a big dude

Yes like what rkilla said, he should gain more experience first. I think he has a strength advantage against Brock (or maybe im wrong) and has those sloppy leg kicks but I see him getting GNP’ed to death by Brock.

Skadoosh!

by Jigs on Dec 16, 2009 1:31 PM EST reply actions

LOL you think the man who just won the worlds strongest man has the strenght advantage, and won it pretty much evry year the last 5 yrs. are you retarded? and we are not just talking weight room strenght, but functional, lifting objects, that are hard to grip, like boulders, the dude squats 1000lbs, BENCHES hundreds more than brock, evry part of his body is stronger than brock, what an idiot.

by dat on Dec 16, 2009 4:59 PM EST up reply actions

Look in the mirror, pal...

Takes more than Size and brute strength to beat someone. Brock has his Wrestling Background to bank on….What background does Mariusz have? Strongman competition? Sorry but in the spirit of a Bruce Lee quote :

There's an even better quote via a Training partner

I wanna say his name was Jimmy (bodybuilding buddy of Bruce’s – anyone else remember his name?). One day they were walking along the beach (Venice I think) when they saw a huge power lifter. Jimmy said to Bruce, “Man, look at that guy. He’s so strong!”

“Yes, but is he powerful?”

I'm sick and tired of these types of guys

Literally begging to be in a fight with Lesnar and leech off his drawing power and buy rates.

Everyone rags about M1-Global being leeches but no one says a word about fighters like this.

They guy is about 37 and wants to make as much money as he possibly can in his short career.

Why not call out lesnar, it’ll raise his Google profile as long as he is constantly mentioned in converstations that relate to Brock Lesnar.

These are not his words

Mariusz denies saying that he wants Lesnar. Quotes from his website (http://www.pudzianfight.pl/), my translation:

“I never said anything about any fight against Lesnar. It’s too early and there is still a long road ahead of me. Big man

No one knows who you are in the MMA world (Not literally, but you know what I mean). Thus no one is piggybacking off “your name”.

Everyone with a slight interest in weight training or strongman competition knows who Pudzianowski is. And he’s very well in Europe.

I’m happy that he chose to pick up MMA, it’s great publicity for the sport.

DUDE

Imagine if he full on hits a man in the face with all his weight and power.. I believe we could witness the first ever death from a punch. In relation to strength i would relate Marius to a bear or silverback gorilla. Have you ever tried to wrestle a bear or gorilla? Even if you weigh as much as them and are a world champion in BJJ Im pretty sure they could still smash you with one hand into a bloody pulp with their ungodly rage. Think about how Brock beat Mir the second time? Could that not be compared to a bear? Holding someone down so they cant move and literally mauling them? DUDE Marius is no joke.. He probably close if not completely twice as strong as Brock so its VERY interesting to me to see him fight Alek i think he has a better shot than most people think. I bet he could be in a full armbar stand up curl you and smash you repeatedly, if you triangled him he could powerbomb you through the mat, or even if you got him in a perfect legbar he could curl his leg against your whole body weight. I bet money that you could see the very first bearhug submission because he can squeeze you so hard he breaks all your ribs at once.

by Pain on Dec 16, 2009 2:41 PM EST reply actions

Weightlifting strength does not equate to punching power. Technique has a lot to do with it and if you saw him hit the mits, this guy has terrible technique and is actually encumbered by his bulk.

Also, if you get him into an organization that test for steroids, I’m sure he’ll just happen to lose about 20-30 lbs.

That being said, he did look pretty ferocious.

by bleve_ on Dec 16, 2009 4:15 PM EST up reply actions

not to insult you in particular, but there is so much ignorance in this thread. many strongman events take a LOT of power. he’s also boxed for many years so he can probably throw a decent punch. in any case he’s a very talented athlete and has potential, though he is kinda old to be learning a new sport. and to the comment below, force x speed = power, force is basically strength.

by Grimacer on Dec 18, 2009 7:00 PM EST up reply actions

What does strength have to do with punching?

Aleks E. is able to kill a bear with knife and fork. Although I’m not sure if Dream will allow him to have a fork in the ring.

i dont know his strenght is incredible they say he can hold a 200lb weight in ine hand like you hold a coffe cup. I can just see him grabbing aleks by one arm and swinging him out of the cage like in a cartoon.

by dat on Dec 16, 2009 5:06 PM EST up reply actions

You sound like you don’t watch too many MMA fights. When the hell on earth is Aleks gonna let this guy just grab his hand? Especially with his slow predictable movement.

Inexperienced people take size for granted. Aleks would drop fists on this guy like missiles from a Russian gunship.

by ontite on Dec 16, 2009 5:08 PM EST up reply actions

I’m stoked on Pudzianowski (I’m 1/2 Polish), and I really hope he does well. But, what people are failing to realize is Brock has been training to smash skulls for a while, Pudzian has trained to pick up big round rocks and 55 gallon drums. He needs to play some catchup in his training focus. Then we’ll see. Let’s also not forget that Aleks is a very large man himself.

WAR MARIUSZ

I am not suprised this callout of Brock was fabricated. Mariusz always came across as a respectful person during interviews when I watched WSM. Hope he gets his skills up to even half of what his physical gifts are, and then we would have one scary mofo.
