The problem with the “YUS!” thing is that he kept going longer than he should have.

Keep firing Assholes!

Fedor has accomplished nothing until he fights Kimbo.

No, the problem with the YUS thing...

is that apparently Diego thinks it will make up for not having a real camp/team and training with the best fighters possible.

by Razreshat on Dec 15, 2009 1:19 PM EST up reply actions

He has a real camp/team. JJU + Arena is a great mma program.

All I can think of is why didn’t his corner throw in the towel after the 3rd. Or even 4th. He’s now my leading contender for the future best “punch drunk mma cautionary tale”.That was friggin’ ridiculous.

Same reason John fitch didn’t throw in the towel vs gsp and Heath herring didn’t throw in the towel vs Brock, they are warriors with tremendous heart, have that never give up attitude

If you’re going into R5 and you still haven’t gotten out of the single digits for strikes landed, it’s time to call it a day.

Yeah it does, just because you have never been knocked-out, dos’nt mean you cant.

BJ even said that about Diago’s head kick was that i could just take one.

If you haven’t landed jack shit in the previous 4 rounds, and you’re beat up worse than when you started and you can’t really see out of your left eye, and you don’t really have discernable one shot KO power, and you don’t have the technique or speed to get the punch there on time, and your opponent is one of the hardest headed fighters ever, you will not be ending the fight with a lucky punch.

You never know, shit happens. I agree that the chances are slim to none, and that BJ is one of the hardest headed fighters out there, but it can still happen and stranger things have happened.

Yeah, at least have the courtesy to lose in the first round like Forrest.

by MickDawg on Dec 15, 2009 2:41 PM EST up reply actions

Sure, but that’s not his call. It’s his corner’s responsibility to be thinking about his safety. Apparently they were too busy yelling “YUS” to every failed takedown attempt.

by John Nash on Dec 15, 2009 2:21 PM EST up reply actions

well his corner thought he had it in the bag.. after i think round 3 or maybe round 4 i heard them tell him “you got this!”

by kanodogg on Dec 15, 2009 2:44 PM EST up reply actions

The "YUS" jokes are not funny anymore.

Some MMA fans are the equivalent of the friend everyone has that latches onto one funny joke and repeats it ad-nauseum to the point of annoyance.

Also applicable: “Sexyama” jokes.

I agree with you. It would have been a blessing for Diego if the ref stopped it in the first. His camp shouldn’t have let him come out for the 4th or 5th rounds… there was no point, sorry.

I wonder about his mental state...

I mean, this is the worst beating I have seen BJ dish out on anyone. Diego has to be doubting himself at this point. I am interested for his first post fight interview…you know…when he can TALK again.

Some people are not smart enough to doubt themselves. For Diego, it works for him in a lot of cases. His corner should have cut this one short though.

He got great corner advice….I know you havent even come close to being succesful at a single takedown attempt but keep trying. Eventually his hands will get tired of punching you in the face.

to be honest, he got beat up a lot less when he was going for the takedown than when he was standing in front of BJ

Probably didn’t want to look bad and give up. Would make their camp look weak in their eyes, I bet.

He’s tough as hell, you can’t take that away from him. BJ is just in another dimension.
