The problem with the “YUS!” thing is that he kept going longer than he should have.
Keep firing Assholes!
Fedor has accomplished nothing until he fights Kimbo.
No, the problem with the YUS thing...
is that apparently Diego thinks it will make up for not having a real camp/team and training with the best fighters possible.
He has a real camp/team. JJU + Arena is a great mma program.

I'm looking for the chicken and the rice. Please for you give me the chicken then you come with the rice or then you give me the rice and the chicken, I don't care.
I thought he fell off his skateboard??

All I can think of is why didn’t his corner throw in the towel after the 3rd. Or even 4th. He’s now my leading contender for the future best “punch drunk mma cautionary tale”.That was friggin’ ridiculous.
Same reason John fitch didn’t throw in the towel vs gsp and Heath herring didn’t throw in the towel vs Brock, they are warriors with tremendous heart, have that never give up attitude

If you’re going into R5 and you still haven’t gotten out of the single digits for strikes landed, it’s time to call it a day.
Keep firing Assholes!
Fedor has accomplished nothing until he fights Kimbo.
Yeah it does, just because you have never been knocked-out, dos’nt mean you cant.
BJ even said that about Diago’s head kick was that i could just take one.
Everyone has a game plan, untell they get hit.
*I ment Diago’s head kick was all it could take is one.
Everyone has a game plan, untell they get hit.
If you haven’t landed jack shit in the previous 4 rounds, and you’re beat up worse than when you started and you can’t really see out of your left eye, and you don’t really have discernable one shot KO power, and you don’t have the technique or speed to get the punch there on time, and your opponent is one of the hardest headed fighters ever, you will not be ending the fight with a lucky punch.

Sure, but that’s not his call. It’s his corner’s responsibility to be thinking about his safety. Apparently they were too busy yelling “YUS” to every failed takedown attempt.
The "YUS" jokes are not funny anymore.
Some MMA fans are the equivalent of the friend everyone has that latches onto one funny joke and repeats it ad-nauseum to the point of annoyance.
Also applicable: “Sexyama” jokes.
I always like a well-done “Sexyama” joke – sadly, those are getting rarer…

I wonder about his mental state...
I mean, this is the worst beating I have seen BJ dish out on anyone. Diego has to be doubting himself at this point. I am interested for his first post fight interview…you know…when he can TALK again.

But is it me or did Alves and Fitch look worse?

Fitch had broken facial bones, I believe. Alves just looked a bit swollen. I’d put Diego in the middle.

"You could have landed more strikes"
Or “What was up with those takedown attempts?”

If Diego needs anything it’s new cornermen – they really gave him bad advice in between rounds
Yes, time flies. And where did it leave you? Old too soon...smart too late. - Mike Tyson
He got great corner advice….I know you havent even come close to being succesful at a single takedown attempt but keep trying. Eventually his hands will get tired of punching you in the face.
to be honest, he got beat up a lot less when he was going for the takedown than when he was standing in front of BJ
the ken-flo strategy
I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.
Even BJ’s corner knew when to cut it off in the 2nd GSP fight.
Keep firing Assholes!
Fedor has accomplished nothing until he fights Kimbo.
Was it their first time cornering against an elite fighter?
Probably didn’t want to look bad and give up. Would make their camp look weak in their eyes, I bet.
War Diego!
He’s tough as hell, you can’t take that away from him. BJ is just in another dimension.
LIke I said in the past, if you weigh 155 lbs, and 24 hours later you are going to fight BJ Penn you are in for an ass kicking.
Getting beatdown is dumb... Know when it's not your night.

But seriously folks. I think he learned a lot about himself by hanging in there and getting the beating of his life. You sort of reach bottom in a way and there’s no way it can get worse. When you know what the worse is you can go forward confident that you’ve defeated it. I like that he hung in there. I mean he was still moving around, he was still attempting takedowns and none of the hits to the face were making him that wobbly. Even the combo high kick with a bakers dozen punches to the face didn’t see him rattled.
In BJ GSP II BJ was finished mentally. His defense of takedowns was non-existant, he wasn’t responding to his corner, he was shocked and afraid and not mounting any kind of offense in the least. Diego was still swinging and pushing him away, he was just doing a horrible job of it. Hard to imagine another one of these barring some kind of miracle, or if he destroys Kenny Florian maybe.
