i was actually intrigued by this fight a little bit. i prefer todays UFC model over the old days, but i do still enjoy the old question of “who would win if X fought Y”.

I'm old school hating Lesnar, I've been hating Lesnar since '08

I'm man enough to admit it...

Mariusz scares the bloody hell out of me. I hope he makes it big so we can see him wreck heavyweights in Japan or America.

Wouldn't be surprised if the UFC snatched him up.

They need guys that draw in Europe, and they could market the living hell out of this guy.

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

I think you’re right but there are some burning questions about Marius -
1)Will he pass a blood test? (was caught for steroids before)
2)Can he fight and beat a top 20 heavyweight?
3)Will anyone care about him outside of Poland? Strongman competition aren’t the most popular sport , I actually never heard about Marius untill he decided to try mma.

I think the UFC will let him fight a few more times before signing him …by then either Strikeforce or a Japanese org may grab him. But most importantly he has to pass a blood test to fight in America…

I’d say the fact that he weighed in at 277 bodes well for his chances to pass a whiz quiz. Dropping 20 pounds is usually a good indicator a guy is currently off the gear (unless he is a tubby bastard who is trying to get a six pack).

In an unrelated story, 15% of Poland’s population is hiding underground.

Fedor has accomplished nothing until he fights Kimbo.

Didn’t KSW say there were going to beat the recent big European rating which was the Fedor vs Rogers fight? Also, I think Mariusz may already be linked to a Japanese promotion.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Dec 14, 2009 3:17 PM EST reply actions

They didn't, I said that...

..and I was right. Fedor vs. Rogers did 3.8 HH and 2.03 homes in Russia. KSW 12 did 12.55% average minute rating, 36% share and almost 5 mln viewers. Obviously you can’t directly compare these numbers because one is “homes” and the other is “viewers”. However it’s certain that KSW had better ratings.

So what you are saying is Mariusz vs Fedor would do huge ratings? Book it.

It depends where...

…in Poland for sure.

To be honest

I think if Mariusz joined a top camp, he could become a force. Maybe not top 10, but if he cleans up his boxing, keeps working on his wrestling, and works on jits, I could see him beating some solid dudes. He’s 32, so it’s not like he’s way too old to be competitive.

And with those muscles he has, I think the thing that bodes best for him is that they are geared towards PRACTICAL strength. Meaning that if he adds technique to his power, he will knock dudes the hell out. That GnP looked vicious, and the leg kicks he used (although wild) were crushing. Teach the guy how to throw hands, and you have yourself a fighter

He’s very explosive that’s for sure , could be interesting . Hopefully he fights someone more legit next so we’ll know a little more
