Damn....

You know, I actually gave Diego a good shot at upsetting Penn. I really thought Diego was going to bring a new gameplan to the table against BJ. Unfortunately, he looked just like all the other LW fighters that Penn has destroyed.

Diego’s striking looked absolutely awful. It was so repetitive and compromising. He’d rush forward with a 2 punch combo. Or, he’d faint with the punch and throw the high head kick with the left leg. It was repetitive, and that forward rush + 2 punch combo was what got him in trouble in RD. 1 when he got tagged by Penn’s counterpunch. After that pounding, Diego’s will was broken. From then on, he looked like Florian trying desperately to get that takedown, and failing miserably.

Penn was so dominant against Diego, that honestly, I don’t think anyone in the LW class can beat him. I mean…who’s left? Maynard, Edgar? Maynard is going to end up just like Diego, and Edgar is going to end up just like Sherk.

I honestly think that Penn should defend his title against the next two in line (Maynard & Edgar) and hopefully by then, GSP would have already made the move up to 185lbs. If GSP moves up, I think it would be time for BJ to move up to 170 and clean out that division. He can beat anyone in 170, except for GSP. If he gradually goes up in weight, and builds the right amound of muscle mass, while still training for that cardio, he can be a nightmare in the WW class.

That’s my opinion.
