UFC 107 Results: Kenny Florian Chokes Out Clay Guida
Two of the top lightweights in the UFC met tonight in Memphis and Kenny Florian re-established himself as one of the top fighters in the division. Florian battered Clay Guida before taking his back and choking him out early in the second round.
Both fighters came out aggressive in the first round and Clay Guida scored first, dropping Florian with an unexpected high kick. But he couldn't get past the lanky Florian's guard and the rest of the round belonged to the Bostonian. The battery was so bad in the first that Referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the action to have a cut on Guida's head looked at by doctors towards the end of the round. But despite the cut being near bone-deep, the action was allowed to continue.
The respite did little for Guida as Kenny Florian punished him standing to start the second round and followed him to the ground to finish the blood-soaked Guida with a rear naked choke.

Let me be the first to eat crow on this one, that was an incredible performance from Kenny no one has been able to handle Guida like that since he came to the UFC.
Whatever he picked up in his camp he needs to stick with because he’s never looked better imo. Also whatever Guida picked up he needs to forget he looked like crap for the most part.
Also good to know that my personal streak of predicting winners continues to fail miserably, what that means for Mir is he’s getting KTFO tonight and i’m going to be drinking alot by the time the Main Event comes on.
It was nice to Kenny bounce back strong.
Anyone know what his walking round weight is?
I’d like to see him try and put on some more muscle and have a bigger weight cut for 155 meaning more muscle and power once he is re hydrated for the fight.
He's walks around between 175 -180
not a heavy guy. Very lean. I’m surprised he actually took a fight with Guida. Guida is 5-4 in the UFC (5-5 now), so he really didn’t have anything to prove fighting a subpar fighter. Maybe he wanted an easy fight to get his confidence back, but I thought he should’ve tested himself with someone like Sherk again…
I like the Carpenter, but....
he has dropped to gatekeeper status. No title shot in his future…ever.
