Paul Buentello v. Stefan Struve - Round 1 -Head kick by Struve missed. Buentello throws a left that doesn't connect. Leg kick by Stefan. Body kick by Struve and he pulls guard. Buentello stands and doesn't let him. Struve with a big uppercut that lands hard. Trip takedown to mount by Struve. Buentello rolls and Struve to a body triangle. He's switching between working for the choke and landing punches. Buentello breathing really hard from the body triangle. Struve turns him so that he fully has Paul's back and Buentello is really struggling to breathe. Struve really working for the rear naked choke now. Struve gives up the body triangle and Buentello turns back into him. The round ends and it was all Struve but he wasn't able to finish. 10-9 Struve. Round 2 -Struve looks a bit tired here. Struve charges in and falls as Paul punches. Buentello makes him stand back up. Body kick, right hand combo by Stefan. They're working against the cage for position. Struve drops down for a leg but can't finish it. Uppercut lands for Struve. Right hand by Buentello. Uppercut from Buentello. Struve throws a flying knee and Buentello drops him with a right but Struve is alert. Struve with an uppercut as they stand back up after Paul tried to flurry on him. They exchange elbows now a right by Buentello. They're standing in front of each other throwing punches now. Good body shot by Buentello. They start to throw shots at each other again and Buentello gets the better of it. Struve laughs and they touch gloves. Paul looks really gassed now. Each man lands an uppercut at the end of the round. 10-9 round for Buentello. THis is fun. Round 3- Slight delay as Struve had a piece of tooth broken off in his mouthpiece. Now they start the fight again and Struve with a right hand. Right hand by Buentello, and a pair of deep leg kicks by Stefan. A few more deep leg kicks by Struve. Buentello lands one punch and Struve lands two. Nice short elbow against the fence by Stefan. Two punch combo from Struve misses. Right hand by Struve. More leg kicks land for Struve and a jab. Buentello is getting beat up to the leg and is starting to limp. Struve is making Paul walk to him and he's beating him up for doing it. Struve slips avoiding a punch and I hope they don't score it a knockdown. Buentello charges in and lands a punch. They exchange shots at the end of the round and Stefan Struve won the fight on my card 29-28. Official Scorecards: 29-28, 29-28, 28-28. Stefan Struve wins by majority decision.
Clay Guida v. Kenny Florian - Round 1 - They both rush to the center of the cage. Leg kick by Guida. Clay keeps throwing leg kicks and Florian with a counter left hand. Uppercut lands for Clay. Head kick by Florian and he slips so Clay jumps on top. Left hand by Guida. Kenny pushes him off using the feet on the hips and they're back to standing. Punch lands for Florian who is cut near the eye. Florian is being patient and landing patient counter shots. Right hand counter by Guida now. Leg kick by Clay. Clay is pushing forward. Kenny lands a few punches as does Guida in return. Kenny tries for the takedown and they scramble back to the feet. Guida looking for a takedown and Florian sprawls. Clay tries for a throw and Kenny ends up on top of him and Clay stands up. Knee lands by Kenny and Clay is bleeding now. Kenny with a takedown and throws some shots. Kenny throws some elbows and as they separate the doctor wants to look at the cut. It's on the scalp so they continue. Florian popping punches now as the round ends. 10-9 Florian on my card. Round 2 - Florian continues to work and just counter Guida's forward motion with single punches. Shot by Guida and Kenny avoids with a sprawl. Blood is streaming into Clay's eye. Kenny landing a lot of jabs now and Guida doesn't look like he can get anything going. Right hand by Florian and Guida is down. Florian pounces with a series of punches and burys a rear naked choke for the tap. Kenny Florian wins by submission (rear naked choke), round 2. Great work by Florian in that fight.
Jon Fitch v. Mike Pierce - Round 1 - Leg kick by Fitch. Pierce is trying to throw but Fitch is using very solid footwork. Kick by Pierce is caught by Fitch who tries for the takedown. Fitch has his back now and gets both hooks in. Fitch landing punches and working to flatten Pierce out. Fitch continues to work to get Pierce's head up and open up the rear naked choke. For the second time tonight the crowd is booking as one guy has taken the back and is working for a finish. Pierce manages to turn and get back to standing where he gets a quick double leg. Fitch is able to stand up using the cage and not taking any damage. As they work against the cage the ref restarts them mid-cage. Left hand lands for Fitch and now a right straight. Both guys are landing in exchanges now but Fitch is getting the better of it. Fitch with a weak shot and the round ends. 10-9 round for Jon Fitch on the BloodyElbow scorecard. Round 2 - Pierce drives Fitch back against the cage looking for a takedown. Pierce is landing knees to the legs. They go back to distance and neither guy is really getting the better of the exchange. Again Pierce throws a leg kick and Fitch grabs it for a takedown but Pierce fights it off. Uppercut lands for Pierce. Pierce is starting to land a little bit more here. Now a very nice two punch combo by Pierce. Fitch shoots now and gets the takedown but again Pierce pops up. At the end of the round they exchange and Fitch gets the best of it. Fitch took the round away there in the second half. Fitch round 10-9. Round 3 - Body kick by Fitch. Pierce avoids a takedown attempt by Jon. Fitch with a solid elbow. Now Jon working knees from the clinch. This round every time Pierce throws a punch Fitch isn't there. Left hook lands hard for Pierce. Pierce is trying to push forward but Fitch is starting to make him pay every time he steps in. Now Fitch shoots in and gets a takedown but again Pierce gets right back up. Fitch lands a nice combination. Pierce catches Fitch and he is hurt badly. Pierce pouring it on. The round ends and Pierce almost stole it by wobbling Fitch at the end of the round, but I still gave it to Fitch making it a close 30-27 fight. Official scorecards: 29-28 across the board. Jon Fitch wins by unanimous decision.
Chieck Kongo v. Frank Mir - Round 1 - The two men didn't touch gloves at the staredown. Kongo throwing some mean punches to start but doesn't land. Mir lands a big leftand drops Kongo. Mir grabs a guillotine and Kongo refuses to tap and is choked out cold. Wow. That was brutal stuff. Frank Mir wins by submission (guillotine choke), round 1.
BJ Penn v. Diego Sanchez - Round 1 - Diego tries to come forward and Penn counters. Right hand by Penn drops diego and Penn is pouring it on. Diego survives and gets back to his feet. Kick from Diego misses. Uppercut by Penn hurts Diego again. Diego looking for a takedown and can't get it. Penn with a counter right. Head kick by Diego is blocked. Penn avoiding Diego's punches and picking him apart with counters. Again Diego throws and Penn avoids and counters. Left hand by Penn. Big right hand hurts Diego again. That was a totally dominant round. 10-8 Penn. Round 2 - Sanchez is backpeddling and Penn is chasing. Diego looking for a single leg now and BJ is defending very well. Penn landing all kinds of punches and Diego can't get a takedown again. Another high kick attempt by Sanchez is blocked. Left hand by BJ as Sanchez tried to come in. Again, Penn slips a punch and lands a hard counter. Takedown by Diego is stuffed and he eats counter shots in return. Counter left and then a two punch combo all find their way to Diego's chin. Again Diego can't finish a takedown attempt and a very clear BJ Penn round ends. 10-9 Penn to make the fight 20-17 on my card. Between rounds BJ's corner says to get him out of there. Look for the finish this round. Round 3 -Diego charges forward into a Penn left hand. Head kick by Diego is blocked again. Left hook by Penn lands flush. Diego looks for the single leg again, and again Penn defends with his amazing balance. Left hook lands for BJ. Diego tries for a single leg again, but it's just not going to happen. Elbow from Penn as they separate. Diego tries to flurry and gets hit with a few counters. Penn lands a few more punches and the round ends. Diego has not won a single second of this fight. 10-9 Penn makes it 30-26. Round 4 -Penn lands a left and just misses with an uppercut. High kick blocked again by BJ. Right hand by Penn and then a left land flush on Diego's face. Right hand by Penn again backs Diego up. Penn throws a right hand and all Diego is doing at this point is surviving. Another failed single leg attempt by Sanchez. Left hand counter by Penn as Diego tries to lunge in. BJ avoids another takedown attempt. Penn lands a few more strikes and it's 10-9 Penn as the round ends. Round 5 -Diego looks like he wants to try to finish somehow. Penn with a hard body punch. Head kick by Diego is blocked. Diego can't get the takedown again. Head kick by Penn lands flush and then a series of punches and Diego avoids anything else by going for another takedown. Diego is pouring blood and BJ is unloading. That cut is awful. They're going to stop the fight. BJ Penn wins by TKO (cut), round 5. Diego did not win a SECOND of that fight. That was very, very impressive.

Looking forward to seeing BJ in the ring again, hopefully he’ll get to show some of his boxing skills.
So they’re not showing any of the undercard bouts on Spike TV? That’s too bad. It probably generated extra PPV buys at a minimal cost to the UFC and Spike.
In the end, all your friends and family let you down and you die in your own arms, so who cares?
The Video Game Awards are live on Spike tonight
and that’s a big show for them, so they couldn’t push it out of the way for the 107 prelims. Prelims will be shown on Spike for 108 though.
over/under TUF finale comment total?
remember, no Kimbo.
I’d like to hear opinions on why Mir adding 20lbs in five months hasn’t seemed to spark the same discussion Overeem has for gaining 30lbs in a year.
To be clear, this isn’t about either fighter but rather the fans and their reactions to similar (Mir is actually more impressive) situations.
Well...
for my part anyway…Here is the biggest thing:
Mir will be tested following this fight. He isn’t seeking fights outside the US. And that is a pretty big thing in my eyes. Now could he be on something that they wouldn’t even catch with a piss test? Sure. So could anyone. But Frank has always been a guy who understands his body (minus the post-injury fat Frank days) and I truly believe he could put on a considerable amount of mass if he wishes through regular means.
This all being said…I am pulling for Kongo.

Mir has been training with former World’s Strongest Man veteran Mark Philippi, especially for muscle mass, to be able to handle the ever-increasingly-massive HW division. Much different (and less suspicious) than saying it’s just from eating horsemeat.

A lot of people find Diego “weird” for his positive thought power. I find those people weird. Some people actually learn and understand the maya (illusion), and some just file papers for 8 hours before watching The Biggest Loser.
Having “Positive Thought Power” is fine, but when you take it to the nth degree and start shilling it in Cartwheels, it gets weird.

I’m in SW Michigan, right along the lake. We get CRUSHED by lake effect snow fairly often. We haven’t so far this year. So when it was supposed to snow a few nights ago somehow the initial reports of 2-4 inches turned into 8 which then turned into reports of up to 14. So…yeah…we got 3 inches total after 24 hours of people running around acting like they were stocking up for the apocalypse

No.
He was great but Suh is the best college football player in the country, which is what the Heisman is supposed to be about. Thankfully, Suh can cry all the way to the bank when he’s the #1 pick in the draft.

BJ has probably had bigger cardio challenges with his underwater rock running than he did, honestly Diego got rocked so hard near the start of the fight I am not surprised it went down like that.
Wish Diego didn’t get rocked so I wouldn’t have this lingering doubt over his abilities, because I know he may not be on BJ’s level but he was not as terrible as he was in this fight.
Just to add, Diego is a good fighter. But if you weigh 155 or less BJ is king. Aldo may be an interesting fight but BJ is better than anyone Aldo has fought. I think the only chance any 155er has at betting BJ is to win a second fight. I really think he is a wake up call for anyone whose initials aren’t GSP.
