He was obviously resposible for BROCKLESNAR’s illness— did you see him make the Ultimate Warrior projectile vomit? Diverticulitis, son..

Brother Voodoo became Doctor Voodoo when Doctor Strange got fired as the Sorcerer Supreme.

I got to admit I’m at the point where I am taking perverse pleasure in watching this card go up in flames.
weird, right?
I feel the same way… I’d love to be in the UFC war room to know the reactions to all this

I feel for Griffin. But I like a Sherk-Miller matchup a hell of a lot better than a Sherk-Oliveira matchup. And Sherk is on the main card, which is always good for me. Maybe if BJ beats Diego, Sherk can get the Diego fight that he wanted with an impressive win over Miller. And Oliviera deserves an easier fight than Sherk after just losing to Nik Lentz.
Hey guy
No UFC at Frank’s. Going to my buddy Aaron’s place in Lino. Call JP.
Also, I think Sherk/Florian 2 could be next if they both win, actually.

Cool, a buddy of mine is ordering it at his house, so I’m good for that.
And I would like a Florian-Sherk 2. The first was good, and Florian’s improved since then, so I think it would be a good fight.

This actually improved the card
Sherk/Miller is a great fight. I’d much rather see that than Sherk/Oliviera or Griffin/Miller.

I don't know
Miller coming off a loss might get an easier fight. ZING!

I have a feeling that
this may turn out exactly like Maynard vs. Miller, but Maynard’s boxing is probably a little more effective than Sherk’s.
Sherk HAS to wrestle
Not just in this fight, but in order to succeed as a fighter with whatever time he has left. His boxing is good enough to rely on if he has to (ie; his shot isn’t producing, though it always does when he spams it), but not good enough to use as a primary weapon.

That’s powerful.

Anyone have a final tally on this show?
As far as I can remember off the top of my head…..
Anderson Silva vs Vitor belfort…dead
Big Nog vs Cain Velasquez…dead
Gonzaga vs DosSantos…dead
Daley vs Condit…dead
Tyson Griffin vs Jim Miller….dead
Did I miss any? I am expecting the roof to cave in right over Mike Goldberg’s head

From Fightlinker:
Originally, this show was to be headlined by Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort in a middleweight title fight, but Silva’s pesky elbow scratched those plans. Then it looked like the Lesnar-Carwin megafight would be moved from UFC 106 to this card, but the hole in Lesnar’s intestine threw a wrench in that potential solution. Then, for a moment, it looked like we would see Big Nog get in the cage with the surging Cain Velasquez, but Nog received a visit from his old buddy, Mr. Staph Infection. Then rumors started swirling about a Velasquez-Carwin fight for an interim belt, but Carwin let it be known that he went and had some elbow surgery when he heard about Lesnar’s ailments and wouldn’t be ready. Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva was officially moved to main event status, and shortly thereafter Carlos Condit and Gabriel Gonzaga had to back out of highly anticipated main card fights with injuries. And now Tyson Griffin is out, too.

this card is srsly fucked
I’m actually bothered by how much injuries have plagued this event. Blah. Dammit all. Lolz

The guys that are currently on the card should be training lightly in fear of a freak injury. If I were fighting, I’d pull out of the fight to prevent a potential career ending mis-hap.
Spinning out solid gold, like Rumpelstiltskin.

This Thursday..
Rashad has to pull out of UFC 108 due to knee injury.
I’m calling it right now.
idk,
Evans-Silva
Dos Santos-Yvel
Daley-Hazelett
Sherk-Miller
Lauzon-Stout
should be an entertaining card, I only see Sherk-Miller potentially going to decision, and even then Miller tends to press the action.
they’re busting their asses to make this work, and right there might now be many immediate title implications but it should be great to watch.
Huh, when you read it out and aren't looking at what could have been
this looks like a solid lineup of fights with no draws. Simply put: Joe Silva is fucking amazing at his job. Dana is floundering on this one.
The depth of the UFC is amazing

I made a joke about this a few days ago
and how people say things like that, but forget how well Strikeforce dealt with frequent and significant losses to Carano v Cyborg. Of course the UFC has a deep roster, but I think it gets overstated while people forget about other promotions struggling with similar issues and coming out well.
I stand by my above post though, this will be an entertaining night of competitive fights. We’ll see how Evans deals with a Chute-Boxe style and learn a bit about how a matchup of him vs. Shogun would go. Dos Santos vs. Yvel is going to be a beautiful display of KTFO, unless we get to see Cigano’s BJJ/wrestling game for the first time in the US. Daley-Hazelett has highlight reel finish written all over it. Sherk-Miller is less of a squash match, but will most likely get Sherk back on track. Lauzon vs. Stout… we all need a good brawl sometimes. No major draws but solid matchmaking. Thank you Joe Silva!
Not even close
The UFC is putting on multiple shows per month. Their depth is absolutely incomparable.
"I’m sorry. I didn’t drink last night, so I’m not funny today."
-Sakuraba
That's not what I was saying.
I agree, the depth of each division certainly favors the UFC if we are directly comparing the two, which is at least partially attributable to having a much larger roster. But that’s not the point I was illustrating.
Strikeforce’s slower tempo on shows provides much more liquidity to their roster, giving them a great amount of depth for their intended purposes. UFC ties many fighters up by planning and marketing events months in advance, making most of the roster unavailable to shuffle if need be. There is criticism to be had of both methods (TBA has a real busy schedule in Strikeforce, UFC has 108) and also upsides.
Either way, my point was to address the fan talk, not any tangibles of either promotion. We never had anyone say “Strikeforce has great depth to their roster!” when they kept reviving interest on Aug15th and giving a great night of fights despite several fusterclucks. I don’t want to compare the promotions, just community response to comparable situations.
