That up kick to triangle to armbar was beautiful.
Lyman is def in for some serious challenges no matter who wins the tourney. I worked out were Lyman teaches for awhile and it would be cool to see him win it again, but its not looking good for him…

Lyman Good still would be the favorite against any WW not named Hornbuckle.

Lyman Good, Ben Askren, Jacob McClintock, and possibly Dan Hornbuckle all within the confines of the Welterweight division in Bellator. Phenomenal acquisitions.

Do you know if Lyman waits for the winner of this season to challenge for his belt? i.e: doesn’t have to fight until the end?

I think he waits till the end.

I was under the assumption that the Spring 2010 tournaments were a battle for a number contender spot …so the winner of the 170 tournament gets a shot at Good.
if thats the case pretty long layoff for all their champs.

The champions will get super fights instead until a contender comes out of the tournaments.

oh “super fights” ….lol well in that case great plan?
BFC is in a tough spot because nobody likes non title fights. Not sure what is the right plan to handle their champions

Nobody said it was a great plan.

The best plan is what they did with Alvarez. Allowing him to compete in DREAM in a market that is probably not easily accessible to Bellator’s demographic, or hell… they don’t even know about.

I agree 100% with how they allowed Alvarez to seek outside fights
another more radical approach would be to have Alvarez, Soto, Good and Lombard be deemed “the 2009 BFC season champions”
and
for 2010 just throw back in the grand prix as the number 1 seed versus a new set of challengers
its too bad fans will have to wait to a match-up like Hornbuckle vs Good, or may not ever see it all

Or they can try to fight in other promotions approved by Bellator, i.e. DREAM or a regional promo.

Bellator keeps looking worse and worse to me.
Their TV deal looked suspect, the delays for season 2 suck, and the long layoffs for champs and the general roster is shitty. I was hugely optimistic when they started up, not so much now. Oh well, glad to see McClintock getting picked up by a bigger promotion. I look forward to seeing him headlining a Challengers card by Q1 2011.
The roster is shitty?
They’ve got a BUNCH of really good fighters on the roster

I guess their “shitty” if you don’t know anything about them.

Sorry, I phrased that poorly.
I meant the word “shitty” to modify the noun “layoffs,” not “roster.” My intended message was “Forcing both champions and the general roster into these long layoffs is shitty.” I know they can take outside fights, but most of them are going to be restricted to low profile regional shows. It pads their record but does nothing for their notoriety or profile as a fighter.
Bellator has a ton of really quality fighters and I’d never intentionally imply otherwise.
Saw this kid at the UWC event at the Patriot Center a while back, he was awesome.
Good signing by Bellator.
