Quote of the Day: Muhammed 'King Mo' Lawal - "I'm Going to Be the Reason Gegard Mousasi Goes Back Down to Middleweight"

"I'm not overlooking anybody, but my plan is to beat Mike Whitehead, then keep on winning. Any opponent, I'm not going to be like, 'Oh, it's going to be a tough fight.' I'm going to be like, 'I'm going to win.' ...I fight to win, so any opponent from here on out, I envision myself beating them. It doesn't matter who it's against."
..."Obviously, Fedor has a few tough fights on the radar with Fabricio (Werdum) and (Alistair) Overeem. He has his hands full right there. I just have to do my thing and keep winning. If he keeps winning, and I keep winning, it could happen... [Emelianenko] has got two tough fights in front of him. Fabricio is no joke. I could see Fabricio beating him, and I could see Overeem beating him. Anybody can be beaten at any given time. You've just got to be prepared... [Emelianenko] is only fighting once or twice a year. He looks good, but you can't expect to improve that much when you're fighting once or twice a year."
..."I have a feeling [Gegard Mousasi]'s going to be at 185 again, eventually. I have a feeling that I'm going to be the reason he goes back down."
-- King Mo has yet to set foot at the Strikeforce cage, and while he says he isn't looking past his next opponent in Mike Whitehead, he already has an eye out for the promotion's top dogs.

Yeh ok.
Keep firing Assholes!
In Idaho, it's illegal to f--- a porcupine. You know why? Because someone tried it.
He makes a valid point about not improving if you only fight once or twice every year. As for the rest of his assertions…yeah…

Talking his way to a bigger paycheck
and a bigger beating =-)

All the hype surrounding Mousasi somewhat came to an end during that Sokoudjou fight. He isn’t a Russian bear barreling through young deer in the woods anymore. He’s got some weaknesses that can be exploited, and the fact that Lawal is one of the best wrestlers in mixed martial arts combined with his strength is a formidable attribute for anyone in the division. Can he beat Mousasi? Not striking, but he could be a problem on the floor in terms of control.
I’d easily go with Mousasi right now, but Lawal might surprise some people.

I think Lawal has a great future, but my fear is that they’ll throw him into the deep end too soon. If he beats Whitehead I would ask for a matchup with Sokodjou, then step up one with a good grappler like Arona, Babalu, or Filho. After that I still would try to get one more fight in. Maybe a Rafael Cavalcante or drop down to 185 and take on someone well rounded like a Hector Lombard before going against Mousasi who really has way too much experience (30 friggin’ fights) and is too well-rounded for Lawal at this point.
after a couple of fights,
more chances to seal some holes, and get more experience, then maybe.. right now, not a chance..

Did you watch HDNet’s coverage of the Strikeforce weigh-in? He was trying to explain how Fedor is beatable at one point… and what he was saying was absolutely absurd. He basically came to the conclusion that most fighters could out strike him because he’s sloppy.

Really? ...Really?
This guy rolls up w/ a crown and some hot chicks w/ a couple of wins and he thinks he can take these guys out? Do we gotta roll that beautiful bean footage of Rampage shutting him down? “Who you fight? Who yuo fight?”
Also, is it safe to say that Mousasi is a Lighter Fedor w/ his cold demeanor, quick hand speed, and somewhat brutal GnP? Or is it too early in his career?
I used to love reading his quotes, but now he comes off as waaay too self-important without having achieved a whole lot. Do something, then I’ll start smiling at this shit again.

I don’t understand how people can get upset when people say thingsl ike this.
you need to promote yourself in this sport. Calling out the best people in your org is the best way of promoting yourself.
Rogers calling out Kimbo was probably the most important thing he did in his career. It’s part of the business, if you can’t handle fighters talking themselves up, you should stop listening to them speak.
he's fought HW a couple of times,
but he’s a natural LHW.. (he has also gone on record saying that he can make 185 though)
