I think the worst thing in this game will be the comments, and the cold, lifeless textures. Otherwise it looks okay so far, I could play this, depending of the stand up game, which is pretty unimpressive in undisputed.

You nailed it, man. “Cold, lifeless textures.”
I couldn’t put my finger on it but that’s exactly right.
Honestly, there’s no way this game can be better than Undisputed. Undisputed, for being an MMA game built from scratch, is pretty incredible. Give it three or four more years to grow and tweak and the engine will be near perfect.

I hope you guys understand that “lifeless textures” have very-very little to do with the engine…

I’m a long time EA hater, but FIFA and NHL are the shit.

Amen! 2k is where it is at. NFL 2K was the shit NBA 2K kills live. Id love for them to make a MMA game but thats a pipe dream.

Thought the game video looked horrible. Not saying it’s going to be better or worse than Undisputed because the game play might be awesome. But based on looks it’s got a butterface.
I'm the kind of girl who loves to watch a GOOD fight!

Its interesting to hear the negative comments. Personally i think it looks fantastic way better than undisputed. It reminds of Fight Night but with MMA. I they they did full body scans so it should be pretty accurate.
Well, undisputed did too, so that will just put them on the same level, modeling wise.. Fight night had waaay better textures and incomparable lighting effects. MMA got this:

Undisputed this:

MMA is still in development (see the mention work in progress), I think they will add sweat and improve the lighting between other things.

I'm a UFC nuthugger and all
But EA’s game looks gorgeous in comparison. But I think Fedor’s face looks terrible.
I’m really lost at how you can look at those two shots and think EA’s looks better.

Better lighting. The bodies are more naturally rigged and moving in the EA system. BJ and GSP have more detailed sculpting and sweaty/greasy mapping and all, but the lack thereof in the EA shot actually makes for a nicer render in my opinion. But we still don’t know how EA will handle a lean fighter. That could completely change the effect.
But its not gameplay, and that’s what makes or breaks it for me.

The graphics could be 5x worse in EA’s game for all i care, as long as they work on the gameplay, i loved Undisputed and played the demo to death, but after a few days of owning it, i got sick of every transition, submission, takedown… everything! looking the same every time you do it. I know it’s all early days for MMA games and that, but i really think the biggest thing, from a gameplay perspective they can improve upon is variation in different techniques.
