The TV intro is playing in the arena and the crowd gives a nice response.

Antonio Silva v. Fabricio Werdum - Antonio Silva v. Fabricio Werdum - Round 1 -Circling to start and already a few boos start 20 seconds in.  Spinning heel kick from Werdum misses.  Silva connects on a punch.  Left hook lands for Bigfoot.  Flurry of punches from Silva and Werdum goes down.  Werdum looking to pull Silva into his guard and eats a big right hand.  They go back to standing.  Sharp low kick from Fabricio.  Every time Werdum tries to get close Silva is punishing him with flurries.  High kick by Werdum is used to close distance and Silva shrugs him to the ground and tells him to stand up.  Jab/low kick combo snaps for Silva.  Werdum is able to close distance after a punch and he puts Silva's back against the cage.  As they separate they exchange and Antonio gets the better of it.  Head kick/ right hand combo by Werdum and he is getting frisky in the stand up.  More head kick attempts from Fabricio miss and now Silva lands a kick and pushes Werdum against the cage.  Sharp elbow to the head by Silva and Werdum drops to the ground and again is told to stand up.  The round ends and it was pretty clear 10-9 Silva but Werdum smiles at the crowd.  Round 2 -  Overhand right lands for Werdum and in return he is dropped by a big shot from Silva.  Silva standing over him now.  Werdum pulls him to the ground and sweeps quickly, now on top in Silva's half guard.  Standing over him may have been a major mistake.  Silva escapes back to standing through and they square off.  SIlva presses him to the cage.  The crowd is booing every time there is a few seconds that isn't filled with action.  They continue to work against the cage, this time Werdum lands a right hand, followed by a single leg.  Werdum looking to pass from half guard to side control and he does.  Attempt to take an arm by Werdum and he has to transition to a leg which he can't finish.  Much closer round but still 10-9 Silva. (Sergio Non of USA Today has it 19-19)  Round 3 - Knee from Silva just misses the chin of Werdum.  Lead uppercut by Werdum closes the distance. Silva is able to separate.  To the ground they go now and Werdum is looking to take the back of Silva.  Some punches to the side of Bigfoot's head.  Silva is able to stand up after working his way to the fence.  Werdum trying to do a Roy Jones-esque hands down defense and eats a punch to the jaw for his trouble.  Thai clinch for Werdum and he lands two knees out of it.  One-two combo for Werdum, uppercut from Silva.  A knee misses for Werdum and these two heavyweights are setting quite the pace.  Knee from Werdum rocks Silva and he drops to a turtle position.  Werdum lands some punches that force Silva to turn over.  Werdum almost passes to mount but Werdum catches his leg.  Hammerfists from the half guard by Werdum now.  The round ends and BloodyElbow scored it 10-9 Werdum (29-28 Silva overall), other press row scores Sergio Non 29-28 Werdum, Josh Gross 29-28 Werdum.  Official Scorecards: 29-28 all for Fabricio Werdum.  Fabricio Werdum wins by unanimous decision.

Gegard Mousasi v. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou - Round 1 - Long jab from Mousasi and a hard leg kick by Sokoudjou.  Head kick attempt by Mousasi just misses.  Soko fakes the takedown and throws an uppercut.  Kick lands to the groin of Soko.  Another kick that looked fine is called low by Soko.  Left hand, leg kick combo by Sokoudjou and then a failed takedown attempt.  Leg kick by Mousasi.  Now he pours it on with a flurry of punches and Sokoudjou with a judo throw to the mat.  Soko in Mousasi's half guard.  He tries to pull a choke but gets swept by Gegard.  Soko explodes to his feet and gets the takedown again.  Soko grabbing for a guillotine and he can't finish but does land a knee and then ends up on top as they tumble back to the ground.  Sweep to end the round by Mousasi.  10-9 round for Sokoudjou on the bloodyelbow card.  Round 2 -Gegard looking to close distance early.  The two struggle for position against the cage.  Knees to the thigh by Gegard now.  Combination by Mousasi against the fence and Soko picks most off them off but a few do get through.  Uppercut by Sokoudjou almost catches Mousasi.  As Gegard tries to bring him down Soko turns to end up on top in half guard and are immediately told to start working by the ref.  Mousasi is able to turn him and is on top throwing big shots down.  Soko is just covering up now and the ref is forced to jump in and stop the fight.  Gegard Mousasi wins by TKO (strikes), round 2.

Jason "Mayhem" Miller v. Jake Shields - Round 1 - Right hand lands for Miller but Shields quickly takes him down.  Miller is posting against the fence trying to find his way back to standing.  Shields is holding on tight and as Miller rolls ends up getting his back taken.  Now Miller rolls back and is fully mounted.  Miller basically uses strength to get back to standing.  Shields shoots in again and Miller is unable to sprawl well enough to avoid.  Now it's more of Shields landing small shots while Miller looks to get back up.  As they get back to their feet Miller picks Shields up off the mat and slams him down.  Miller postures up but after missing a punch Shields is able to get back up.  Miller takes his back standing and tries multiple times to land a suplex but can't get enough leverage to do much damage.  10-9 round for Shields on the Bloody Elbow card.  Round 2 - Quickly back to the ground again and Shields tries to take the back of Miller.  He manages to transition into mount and Miller is able to buck him off using the cage but ends up with Miller on his back again.  Shields works to mount and back to the back, almost ending up in position to land a "twister."  Instead he moves back into half guard and lands a punch to Miller's face.  Shields is all over Miller and comes close to finishing with a rear naked choke.  Miller is able to sweep and is on top but Shields looks to lock in a heel hook.  Miller finishes the round on top but again clearly lost the round 10-9.  Round 3 - Miller tries to be the one initiating the takedown but once again ends up on his back.  Again Shields is able to move to mount and land some strikes and again Mayhem is forced to give up his back.  Miller rolls forward and ends up on top.  Again Shields grabs a leg and uses it to get back to standing.  Shot lands for Miller and now he has him locked up against the cage.  The fighters are stopped so that Mayhem's gloves can be fixed and Big John puts them back in the same position and restarts the fight.  Again Shields gets the quick takedown.  Miller is able to find a way back to his feet and as they go back to the ground Miller is able to take Shield's back.  Miller gets the elbow under the throat and it looks deep!  The horn sounds though and the round is over!  10-9 round for Miller based on the only true moment that was close to finishing the fight.  Round 4 - Right away Shields gets it to the ground again.  The crowd really does not like Shields.  Huge "Mayhem" chant from the crowd.  Shields isn't doing much with the takedown and they're stood up. Miller with a few knees to the body and a head kick attempt that Shields drives through into yet another takedown.  Shields traps the arm and steps into full mount.  He's looking for an arm triangle but Miller creates the space to get out of it.  Now Shields takes his back in a scramble.  Miller rolls into mount and initiates a scramble that ends with him on his back.  The round ends and it was a clear 10-9 for Shields again to put him up 39-37 on the BloodyElbow card.  Round 5 - Jab by Mayhem.  Right hand lands for Shields.  Jake is able to get inside and clinch up.  Shields with the single leg and again takes Miller's back.  Miller turns and now Shields is landing more small punches.  Mayhem rolls and Shieds has his back again.  Miller is able to turn and end up on top with a minute thirty seconds left but right away is on his back again.  They get to the feet to end the round.  One quick flurry by Mayhem and the round is over.  10-9 Shields on the BE scorecard to make it 49-46 for Shields.  Official Scorecards: 48-47, 49-46x2.  Jake Shields wins the Strikeforce Middleweight Championship.

Fedor Emelianenko vs Brett Rogers  This is KID NATE taking over for Brent. Fedor is shiny with sweat under the lights. Big John in the cage. Round 1 xFedor takes center cage. Rogers cut Fedor's nose with an early jab. Fedor gets a quick takedown, looks for an arm. Rogers fights his way to his feet and forces Fedor against the cage. Fedor got free and rocked him with a hook. Then took him down. Battering Rogers. Rogers clinging to 1/2 guard. Rogers reverses as Fedor works for a kimura. Rogers with a barrage of ground and pound before Fedor escapes. Fedor pounding from the top. Fedor looking for an arm triangle. Fedor back to his feet. The round ends with Fedor in Rogers' guard. Bloody Elbow scores it 10-9 Fedor. GREAT ROUND. Round 2 Fedor missing with hooks. Then clinches up. Fedor begins battering Rogers but Rogers escapes! Fedor CRACKS him. Big John stops it at 3:12. Fedor Emelianeko by TKO.

It really does help us get a sense of what things are like there. Sometimes important things happen, or entertaining things happen, like funny entrances. I’m glad BE always is on top of the in-arena happenings.

I forgot this isn’t a title fight. I though WAMMA was giving a belt away during this fight. Shouldn’t it be a title fight then?

Hopefully this fight doesn’t end in a close decision. Would love that extra two rounds.

Wouldn’t want the WAMMA belt to be tarnished by a disputed decision.

Is anyone taking Soko at +400?

by goodbones on Nov 7, 2009 6:31 PM EST reply actions

I picked Soko at mmaplayground. But I guess that’s not the same as putting up my hard-earned dollars. I was impressed with what Mousasi did to Babalu, but I still think Soko has better odds than +400.

Miguel Torres was getting absolutely mobbed by fans a few minutes ago. Just moments before I witnessed Scott Smith standing in the bathroom line without anyone giving him so much as a head nod. Hopefully it was due to basic bathroom line etiquette and not a complete lack of recognition.

1) Fedor by Tim style of beating
2) Miller by not taking his a.d. h. d. medication and winning by decision
3) Mousasi by muder of the 2nd degree
4) Silva by idk, should be a good fight though.

Everyone has a game plan, untell they get hit.

I think Strikeforce needs to pick a division and make that its bread and butter.

For a long time, the UFC could always fall back on their LHW division. Of course, they’re fairly deep everywhere now.

Which division should SF try to fortify?

Shields has incredible talent, but I’ll be damned if he’s not one of the biggest wet blankets in all of MMA.

If only he had some power… He gets such phenomenal position, with relative ease, but can rarely do anything with it. If a sub isn’t open, he just can’t do anything.

It’s not just Miller’s defense, either. Look back to the Daley fight. Daley has almost no ground defense and Shields barely finished him after like 3 mins of being in full mount.

No, I agree. I’ll cut him some slack too, you can tell he’s overly emotional and disappointed. I was just saying.

I wouldn’t say Rogers was beating Fedor. He was certainly handling himself well, though.

I thought that was awesome of him, he wasn’t disrespecting Fedor, but he’s hungry to go for a second time. I’m really impressed with him, he can do great still.

Like many promising propects from other sports that come to MMA

They just don’t all pan out. Gus should go announce for some regional promotions, maybe get some wins under his belt before being on the televised card again.

Truth is

We all know Fedors best years are behind him, NO-ONE could beat him 2000, 2008, he’s getting older, whats his inspiration anymore? he has nothing to prove, his legacy is set.

Doesn't anybody think before they speak/post anymore?

by Big Boob Lover on Nov 7, 2009 11:19 PM EST reply actions

OK, how many more fights do you think he has? 10?

I’ve watched him his whole career, and have always enjoyed him, can’t someone say that no one fights forever?

they should do rogers/verdum for the chance to fight him. fabricio isn’t gonna give fedor many problems, and rogers is much more marketable.

by woooburn on Nov 7, 2009 11:21 PM EST reply actions

It was interesting to see Fedor in the cage for the first time. He was pressed against the cage far more than he used the cage to his advantage, and I think he would have finished that armbar in the first round if not for the cage being in the way.

I thought it was over...

the first time Fedor got Rogers on the ground. I was really impressed by Rogers’ composure and ability to escape.

I missed the PRIDE rules several times during this fight. Fedor really, really wanted to throw a soccer kick at one point.

I’m think Fedor vs. Wedum to keep him busy, then maybe Overeem or whoever else they can get until they can drag him back to the states.

About that unplanned swing bout?

Sherdog is saying it isn’t going to happen at all now, which is pretty shifty of Strikeforce.

The punch that KOed him was a counterpunch.

Wow, Rogers is actually good. Real impressive display from him tonight, same for Soko. Fedor and Mousasi still brought the heat though and gave good performances, all 4 come out of this looking good.

Silva woulda beat Werdum but his ego got the best of him and he went to the ground, still, he proved that hes on Werdum’s level and that he deserves a title shot down the line.

I’d like to see Fedor/Werdum (aka Fedor/Nog 4) and Rogers/Silva (winner fights winner of the Fedor fight). The winner of that third fight would fight Overeem for the title.
