Strikeforce: Fedor v. Rogers Undercard - Live Results and Commentary
BloodyElbow.com will be live in the arena tonight for Strikeforce: Fedor v. Rogers. We'll bring you live results and impressions for every fight on the card as well as try to provide a sense of the live atmosphere and maybe even a few surprises along the way.
To avoid spoiling anything that may make the main card broadcast we will be doing all undercard results in this post. Please keep all undercard talk in these comments.
The first fight is about to start. Results will be below the fold.
Christian Uflacker v. Jonatas Novaes - Round 1 - Uflacker shoos for the double and gets it to the ground. Half guard for Christian and he is working to pass but Novaes has a solid half. A few body shots and Novaes attempts the sweep but remains on bottom. Novaes escapes and is now standing over Uflacker. Novaes drops down for the leg rather than remain in dominant position. Uflacker escapes and is right back on top in half guard. The fighters are stood up due to lack of action. Novaes lands a solid head kick but Uflacker pushes forward for the takedown again, this time finishing a nice double. Again Novaes grabs half guard. The round ends and it was a rather uneventful 10-9 for Uflacker based on position and takedowns. Aside from the head kick and failed leg lock nothing much for Novaes. Round 2 - Novaes pushes Uflacker against the cage to start this round. Uflacker works the trip and ends up on top. Uflacker is looking to trap an arm. Neither guy is able to do much before getting stood up. Another takedown for Uflacker now and he continues to end up in Novaes' half guard. Short punches by both guys but still not a not of positional advancement or damage. It's probably for the best that this is on as people are just starting to come into the arena as it's not a crowd pleaser. Novaes goes for the armbar and almost gets it but in the end is just back to the half guard. The round ends with more of the same. 10-9 Uflacker again I guess...but not impressively and the fight very well could be even. Round 3 - Leg kick from Uflacker after a right hand misses for Novaes. Leg kick now for Jonatas. Takedown again for Uflacker again into the half guard. Flurry of kicks to the head from Novaes on the bottom...but Uflacker had 3 or 4 points on the ground making the upkicks illegal. Uflacker rolling to his back as the doctor comes in. They're not going to restart this one...or maybe they are, but not before a TWO point deduction. The fight restarts and Uflacker gets the takedown quickly. Novaes tries a flurry of punches from the bottom and then it turns back into a position battle with Uflacker in Novaes' half guard. Novaes tries to use the fence for an armbar but is blocked. The ref stands them back up. Uflacker again with the takedown. The fight ends with Uflacker on top and another 10-7 round despite being fouled hard. BloodyElbow scores the fight 30-25 Uflacker. Official Scorecards: 29-26, 30-25, 30-25 all for Christian Uflacker.
Louis Taylor v. Nate Moore: Round 1 - The two circle to start the fight. Taylor is pawing with the jab trying to close distance. High kick from Taylor just misses. Moore charges forward with a flurry of punches that miss. Moore tries for a throw but Taylor retains balance and keeps Nate against the cage. Taylor is warned for holding the shorts. Moore tries for a takedown but can't finish. This time Taylor throws a kick and Moore takes him down off of it. Moore is looking to catch an arm but Taylor circles his body to end up on top. Moore with a very nice reversal to end up back on top after a scramble. Taylor gives up his back. Taylor briefly stands but is dragged back to the ground. Again Taylor stands but Moore remains draped on him. The round ends with the fighters tangled against the fence. 10-9 round for Moore on the Bloody Elbow card. Round 2 - Taylor is breathing pretty heavy before the round. Moore comes forward with a series of hooks. Taylor pushes him up against the fence but they stop the fight and take a point from Taylor for holding the shorts. Hook lands for Taylor in an exchange but Moore bulls forward and pushes him against the fence. As they scramble against the fence Taylor gives up his back and Moore drags him down. Moore is looking to get the hooks in now. Moore with both hooks in and he starts to throw punches to the side of Taylor's head. Moore keeps him flattened out working the punches. Taylor isn't doing anything and the fight is stopped. Nate Moore wins by submission (strikes), round 2.
John Kolosci v. Shamar Bailey - Round 1 - Bailey with a quick double leg early in the round. He works for the back but Kolosci is able to stand up before being taken right back down. Bailey locks in the head and looks like he has a deep choke/neck crank on but Kolosci is able to escape out and end up on top in the full guard of Bailey. Bailey gets to his feet and ends up right back on top. Bailey passes to half guard and John uses the fence to stand back up. Kolosci throws a flurry of punches that clip Bailey and force Shamar to shoot back in. The round ends and it was close but 10-9 Bailey on the BloodyElbow.com scorecard. Round 2 - High kick misses for Kolosci and Bailey with another quick takedown. THey stand up after not much action and Kolosci is looking for the guillotine but didn't have it locked deep enough. A brief scramble ends with Bailey back on top, this time in side control. Kolosci is able to work back to half guard. They end up back on the feet battling for underhooks. Bailey again looking for the takedown and John again looking for the choke. Bailey drags him back down to the mat and it's really fallin into a pattern. Knee to the face of a downed fighter and a point is taken from Bailey. They're not hesitating to take points tonight. That action ends the round..and saves Kolosci from a 10-9 round. BloodyElbow scores the round 9-9 (19-18 Bailey overall) Round 3 -Same as expected to start the round, takedown by Bailey and again John is able to stand back up. Another takedown by Shamar and he works his way to half guard but Kolosci turns and works back to his feet. Right hand by John and Bailey drops down and...yep...another takedown. The round ends with the final takedown of the fight for Bailey. Bloody Elbow scores the round 10-9 Bailey (29-27 Bailey overall). Official Scorecards: 29-27 across the board. Shamar Bailey wins by unanimous decision.
Jeff Curran v. Dustin Neace - Round 1 - Left hook from Curran lands solid. Neace throws a few kicks and a jumping knee to the body. Curran locks him up against the fence and is unable to get the takedown. Suddenly the ref jumps in as they are against the fence and Neace has tapped out. Dustin is grabbing his side and it is unclear what exactly happened. Jeff Curran wins by submission, round 1.
Marloes Coenen v. Roxanne Modafferi - Round 1 - David Smith is the referee. Coenen with a solid punch to start. Modafferi tries to get close and eats a hard knee for her trouble. Roxy does manage to grab a leg and drag the fight to the ground. Coenen transitions beautifully to an armbar and Modafferi has to tap out! Marloes Coenen wins by submission, round 1.
That's it for the undercard. All further results will be done in the main card post.

So the women’s fight might make the broadcast but is it a lock that the other prelims will be on the show time permitting?

I honestly don't know...
I seriously doubt if every fight were to end in 1 round that they’d just go off the air early

Last July
They did air the prelims on the July EXC/CBS broadcast. Even put their HWY title on the Showtime prelims.
Agreed they should continue that practice.
