Welterweight Dan Hornbuckle (19-2) has his sights set on the UFC, and also has a few specific opponents in mind:
So yeah, we’ll be fighting in the UFC soon. What’s holding me back right now is that I need to get a few more fights in against top-level opposition. "
"I’d say a guy like Koscheck or Fitch, one of those two," he says when asked who he would like to face as his first UFC opponent. "When I go into the UFC, I just don’t want to be that little pebble that gets thrown in even though it makes a ripple. I want to be that boulder that goes ’boom.’"

Time to let this baby bird fly free. There’s not much left for him in Sengoku right now anyway.
I think he could go to the UFC right now, but a couple more fights couldn’t hurt.

Its a shame.
How is Sengoku’s WW division supposed to thrive if guys are leaving?

2 more fights in Sengoku
Then unleash him on a mid-level fighter in the UFC’s WW Division.

I’m a huge hurnbuckle fan, seen him fight a lot in indiana, but he’s not ready for a guy like Kos or Fitch. Jeebus.

How does he expect a promotion to book him with a top guy if he comes out and says he wants to go to the UFC soon. A promotion would not want to give a loss to one of their best fighters while building hype around a guy who isn’t going to stick around to do more shows.
Its like why the UFC made Arlovski fight O’brien in his farewell match instead of a fighter of his caliber.

I have been a fan of Hornbuckle since his first fight with Sengoku. Not a long time, and even though he lost I saw champion status potential. Now following this guys career I believe he really is in the top 5 WW’s out side of the UFC. Nick Diaz being first and most valuable in my opinion is followed by, Jake Shields (if he wants to fight at WW), Jay Hieron, Dan Hornbuckle, Marius Zaromskis, Pete Spratt, etc, etc, I think if Carfton Wallace and Alexander Shlemenko fight stay at WW they also will be recognized by a major organization soon as valuable WW’s.
