You think he is going to kill himself?

The dude sounds a bit crazy though. i have to say. If I were to fight him, I’d definitely go for a low blow if possible to soften him up. The dude was learning and laughing like a lunatic last night. I had nightmares about the big bad Marcus. Even if he doesn’t make it in the UFC, he can be the next Freddie in the Nightmare in Elm Street 25

He’s just a big happy goofy guy, not some psycho ready to kill people.

wren vs nelson

should be one round later. Its lame that McSweeney and Mitrione get to face each other since they’re the weakest fighters left.

Yep.

That matchup reeks of Team Jackson favoritism. Mitrione is probably the only guy that McSweeny has a chance against.

Last nights episode left me with a lot of mixed emotions and impressions

I was thoroughly impressed with Marcus Jones’ ground game and equally unimpressed by his stand up. I know the fight was short so we really didn’t get to see much of his stand up, but based on what I saw and what he said on The Aftermath he is going to be in trouble with someone who has a good takedown defense and strong hands.

I hate Rampage. Period. The guy is a juvenile prick who talks a lot of unnecessary shit.

Team Rampage is really not the brightest group of lights on the Christmas tree. They are going to pass up an opportunity to train with Rashad’s team for some sort of machismo, pride BS? Wow. Team player? Kimbo does know that MMA is NOT a team sport right? I will admit, Rashad didn’t approach it the right way at all.

I have high hopes for the quarter finals though!

I don't know that I completely blame them

for not switching teams for that training opportunity. Unlike the real world, once they leave the training center they have to return to the house, which would be full of Team Rashad members that would never have fully accepted you and Team Rampage members that would ostracize you (or worse).

by rzor on Nov 5, 2009 10:25 AM EST up reply actions

I understand what you're saying

But there is a point where you have to realize it isn’t about making friends, it is about you learning as much as you possibly can. They may not have the opportunity to win the season anymore but they have an opportunity to train with some top notch trainers, and like Big Baby said, it was an opportunity to train with some seriously decorated wrestlers. Which seemed to be the Achilles heel for a lot of Rampage’s team.

Bros before...before nothing really.

Rashad is just rashad, he isn’t known for being a great trainer, it doesn’t make that much sense to switch. Rampage is a bad coach we get it, but they seem to have valid training sessions. And it looks like yoda disappeared. If it was earlier, it would make sense, but they all lost already, why would they change team? Will some few days with rashad will change their game? It’s over, training with rashad wouldn’t get them anywhere else.

Honestly I haven’t read all the stuff on rampage’s team members, do they complain about the training, or just that rampage doesn’t provide post fight attention?

It's a pretty tricky situation

I know there was a lot of backlash from fighters on the show when Rampage refused to go into the cage, but I couldn’t tell you exactly who off the top of my head. I would suggest reading some of the blogs the fighters kept during this season of the show.

I think you would have to be pretty ballsy to say that you didn’t get good training during the show from your designated coach. But that is not my point. I am not implying that they got “bad” training on Team Rampage, but you should be willing to go outside of what you have at this point kind of gotten used to for the past 6 weeks or however long it’s been. You should be willing to try and get some different experiences to be a better fighter, right? I don’t recall too many people on Team Rampage being stellar wrestlers but a butt load of them are on Team Rashad.

I need to re-watch the episode, not everyone said no. Kimbo and someone else said no, but nobody else said anything because the peer pressure was on. Plus, when Rampage was trying to chant against Rashad it didn’t seem like many guys were doing it, probably upset that they got pressured into staying on team Rampage.

The boo thing?

Yeah, sounded like one or two people were booing with him. When you watch it, tho, no one on camera was booing. So my guess is Tiki and Friends.

I noticed the Rampage chant as well

and assumed it was because Rampage was afraid to give his members a chance to think it over; however, it appears at least Kimbo and Marcus have been very deferential to their coach, which means at least some of them have invested some considerable trust.

by rzor on Nov 5, 2009 10:46 AM EST up reply actions

It’s not about trust. Marcus is still fighting and there is no point for Kimbo to go train with Rashad’s team, because if somebody is hurt – he is the number one pick (if he pisses Rampage, then he might nto be picked if the opportunity arises).

by mikser on Nov 5, 2009 12:07 PM EST up reply actions

By the trust Marcus gave

I was referring to when he was asked who he wanted to fight next, and he completely trusted his coach to select the next fight. I suppose Kimbo could have had an ulterior motive to staying with his team. If we’re going to give him that much credit though, the only fighter that could be injured from Team Rampage is Marcus. Instead, if Kimbo went to Rashad he could have shown off his skills and then stepped in for any injured Rashad fighter, of which there are seven left. Additionally, Rashad currently only has one loser to choose from on his own team.

by rzor on Nov 5, 2009 12:31 PM EST up reply actions

Kimbo does know that MMA is NOT a team sport right?

It kind of is, tho. Coaches, people to train with, the corner – basically people that get relied on as much as any traditional team sport, IMO.

BTW I don’t mean to defend Kimbo or team Rampages silly decision not to take Rashad up on his offer. If you look at their faces, they wanted to so badly tho.

i’m not surprised that no one wanted to switch the way it was done, in public in front of the cameras, and with the shit talking by Rashad.

I can see 2 ways that would have been better for it to play out. 1 would be just a straight up trade, 3 winners from Rashad for 3 losers from Rampage. That way each guy can train for the second round without worrying about his opponent observing/knowing exactly what’s going on.

The second way would have been for individual fighters on Rashad’s team to ask individual fighters on Rampage’s team to come and be their training partner. This way it isn’t, “Rampage sucks, come train with me,” or “come help people on my team train,” It’s individual fighters making the decision to go over there and help a person, not a betrayal of teammates or anything like that.

Why the hate on Rampage? He’s a funny prick, in the same vein as Tito. Still reppin’ for my boy ’Page

Marcus is one of my fav TUF cast members, ever! Only thing that annoys me is his “yes sir, yes sir, yes sir”, everytime. lol Still he has great potential with fans.

That ‘yes sir’ stuff is a hold over from football. Lots of coaches insist on it and it just becomes second nature to refer to any authority figure as ‘sir’.
