Gina Carano Has a Strong Interest in Strikeforce's Ratings

500full-gina-carano_medium_mediumSince her loss in August, Gina Carano has been virtually silent.  She is expected to return to Strikeforce in the summer, after she finishes filming Steven Soderbergh's new movie.  Though many have dismissed her following her disappointing performance, she is still a ratings powerhouse and a critical component of Strikeforce.  It's almost become expected that every time she fights she will set some kind of ratings record.

All eyes are on the numbers Strikeforce pulls this weekend.  I don't expect them to do blow away numbers, nor do I expect them to bomb.  I expect them to come in somewhere in the middle; perhaps something like a 2.3 household rating.  That's the kind of number that could earn them another show, but won't have CBS executives jumping up and down for joy.  If I'm correct, CBS and Strikeforce will be begging Carano to return on CBS in the summer.

Despite a large increase in salary, Carano is still underpaid.  She's the only media lightning rod in Strikeforce, and she delivers where it counts.  Strikeforce is paying Fedor significantly more than Gina, but it remains a question whether or not he is actually a bigger draw.  If Fedor bombs this weekend, Carano will find herself in an even stronger negotiating position.

I like most Soderberg movies but...

this shit sounds horrible.

The Limey, and Traffic

everything else, I’m pretty much indifferent about.

You can add Out of Sight and King of the Hill to that list.

Erin Brockovich and Ocean’s 11 (not the sequels) were good, Traffic and sex, lies, and videotape were great. Just saw The Informant, which wasn’t bad

I agree, Erin Borckovich and Ocean’s 11 are good. But The Limey, Traffic, Out of SIght, and King of the Hill are the movies I would list as very good.

sex, lies, and videotape is one of the movie that kicked off the Sundance movement, so I generally think it’s rated higher than it deserves. It’s kind of like Easy Rider with the New Hollywood movement in that respect. Besides MIke Nichols had already touched on a lot of the same themes almost 20 years earlier with Carnal Knowledge.

Yeah it sounds like shit. It reads like a bad Street Fighter sub plot. Is she going to end up finding her father too?

I love me some Sexyama!

Be careful for what you wish for… If you want a star or want to build stars you better be prepared to pay for one.

LOL, those pictures don’t have anything to do with her upcoming movie.
That was when she was a guest for the Blue Angels in Reno….nice try though

STAY IN HOLLYWOOD...

In the movies they dont hit back, the last time we saw you fight in real life you got mauled:

You will never beat Cyborg. Do yourself a favor, collect the Hollywood checks, more $$$ less pain.

"Hater"?

So because I dont agree w/you I’m a “hater”?!? I wasnt saying who I would rather see fight, just know that when the rematch comes around it’ll be second verse same as the first. I’ll dumb it down for you: Gina gets mauled, again.
