WTF?
I’m just gonna go in there and basically have fun because this is my first fight that all I have to do is just train to bang for the fight so I’m gonna go in, I’ma have fun.

What i read into that is that he’s going out there to knock him out; you know, the 2:30 ko in the first round. I think maybe the consequence of only thinking ko is that he has given the rest of the fight away. Even during the 360 it was his trainers that said that if he gets an arm or a head he’ll finish it, but I think Rogers, inside, is banking on the ko. So all he has to do is train stand up and ko Fedor.
Now, if you say it like that it sounds nuts, but if you just train and train to ko the guy, you can convince yourself that since you’ve worked so hard it’ll pay off. And he has past experience with kos.
Would his ground game improve if he trained lots of ground? Yes, but psychologically he’d be beating himself down because he has so much to learn, and it probably wouldn’t be enough anyway to beat Fedor on the ground. So he trains what he likes, what he’s good at. We’ll see if it’s enough Saturday night.

disaster waiting to happen
I don’t know. I like Rogers. I hope he knocks Fedor out. But, everytime he talks, I am waiting for him to say something stupid or out of line. Let’s hope this fight does happen as heavyweights seem to be getting injured before their fights easily (Todd, Brock, …)

i thought he gave a fine interview and made a good showing of himself, but did they forget to mention that he was fighting for strikeforce again?

Yeah I just noticed that. But Im sure it has to do with it being on CBS and not on ABC/ESPN. I’m pretty sure the millions of people that watch on Sat will see that they’re fighting in Strikeforce.

I don’t think it has anything to do with what network it is on that they didn’t mention it. I just think it’s shoddy P.R. work.
Whoever set up that interview needs to make sure they get those mentions in there. It’s not like Brett Rogers called up ESPN himself and asked to be on that show. Someone had to call on behalf of CBS or Strikeforce and set up that interview for him.
Just BE.

The PR persons job is not just to get the appearance, but also to prep the person making the appearance to plug the product. We saw the same thing with Herschel Walker interview after he signed with Strikeforce. He spent half 90% of the interview talking about the UFC and never, not even once, mentioned Strikeforce.
Whoever is doing PR for Strikeforce is dropping the ball in prepping the athletes for public appearances.

they should at least mention that he fight’s for strikeforce, or someone should have told brett to mention it after the herschel walker debacle.

Well there was no mention of Strikeforce on the Fight Camp 360, so why Rogers should bother.

Just watched him on Sports Nation (it was a lunch meeting at a bar so the audio was off) and I don’t know if he mentioned CBS or Strikeforce, but they had it prominently displayed on the ticker below. Also had a montage of Fedor highlight. Don’t know if only ESPN can use them, but wondering why CBS hasn’t been showing them.

EEEEEE MOOOOOO LEEEEE UN ANKO
Gotta love the effort reporters put into research.
They should have asked him if he was black too.

I hope he doesn't really think....
all he has to train for is to “bang”. Naw son, you better get your ass on the ground and learn how to defend armbars, chokes and leg locks. Want to see you win so don’t get stupid.

I think people just assume he doesn’t know how to defeend against those things because they haven’t seen him in those situations. Has anyone ver taken him down? Not saying Fedor can’t, or won’t, but Brett knows that’s where Fedor has the advantage. As heavy handed as Fedor is, Brett is going to wawnt to keep this standing so it’s on Fedor to immediately take him down and submit him. There can be no delay because I know Brett has the wherewithall to get bak to his feet if Fedor does anything less than an immediate transition into a submission.
