But Mr. Mur....
You don’t want to show off your superior standup that made Brock afraid to stand with you???

Congo is right about Mir having a big mouth. It’s really the only thing keeping me from liking him. He’s super pretentious and would be much more respected if he’d just shut up and let his fists do the talking.
What happened to all the talk of ripping people's arms off and breaking limbs? :)
I actually think that was the most modest Mir we’ve seen in a while. He thinks he is just “pretty decent” on the ground? Interesting.
I know Frank isn’t someone a lot of people like, but I think his big mouth overshadows the fact that he has some legit, dangerous skills, and in general, I feel he’s pretty entertaining in fights. I look forward to him submitting Kongo, and personally would like to eventually see a rematch with Nog. I don’t usually look back on a fighter’s victories and reduces their value because the guy they beat was sick or not in 100% shape, but admittedly Nog’s performance against Randy really raised a lot of questions and I’d like to see that rematch if Nog loses to Cain.
I love me some Sexyama!
Mir on Lesnar. . .
Did he really think that Lesnar would not have improved his game, that he would get his spastic habits under control? You can hate Lesnar all you want, but the man works incredibly hard in the gym and in training. Why he thought Lesnar would stand with him is beyond me. Did he watch the Herring and Couture fights? Lesnar is all about takedowns, wrestling, using has mass to smother opponents and control them, and then using his power to finish them. Did Mir think Brock would box him? Seriously . . .
while what you say is true
Lesnars power standing can’t be underestimated either. Yes he’s not as technical, but one of those canned hams lands, and it’s lights out. I’m not too sure who would be willing to trade with Lesnar. He’s kinda like a over sized GSP, throw bombs(ok that parts not like GSP), or put you on your back.
comparing brock to gsp in general is ridiculous
Just because they can both wrestle doesn’t make them similar fighters.
I’d say they were very different fighters in fact.
but one of those canned hams lands, and it’s lights out.
Brock undeniably hits hard, but he has actually never knocked anyone out.
[Cough] Kim [Cough]
[Cough] Randy [Cough]
[Cough] Mir [Cough]
Keep firing Assholes!
In Idaho, it's illegal to f--- a porcupine. You know why? Because someone tried it.
Those weren’t actual KO’s. Kim tapped, Randy got knocked down and finished with multiple strikes, Mir suffered GnP assault which end up with him being half conscious and eating strawberry jam.
But I’m pretty sure that if he connects to the chin it’s lights out

Kongo is right that Mir has a big mouth, but Mir was actually pretty respectful of Kongo. I know that he said that Kongo has some of the worst ground game in the Heavyweight Division, but that is honestly the truth and Kongo’s fights where he was put on his back has proven that. I find it interesting that Mir more or less gave away his strategy (and what he said would definitely be his best way to win this). I see Mir taking this one, but he is right about Kongo in that Kongo can finish him on the feet and has good ground and pound.
Strategy against Kongo is pretty obvious.

That’s true, but Mir will sometimes put up “the smoke and mirrors” and say that he will do something else like strike with his opponent.

He actually did say a few weeks back that he was going to stand with him, I guess he changed his mind

It would be nice if kongo could improve his ground game so he can stay competitive on the ground. He will have to fight good wrestlers again if he intends to stay in the UFC, and for now his weakness is more obvious than crocop’s head kick.
I say send kongo to team quest, and let him defend takedowns and sprawl all day.
10/24
Or defend against
GSP, or Lesnar, hell even Fitch(I don’t know what camp he’s in though)
Can’t help think that explains Kongo’s never evolving style.

I hope mir get’s knocked out cold, lights out, but I see this match as 50-50. Either Mir will submit Kongo, or he will be knocked out, no question about it.
Lesnar an oversized GSP? Come on guys, what has he done to be compared to GSP? Yes, Lesnar has great takedowns and great speed in his takedowns, but he has no striking on his feet, his ground n pound isn’t that dangerous if you are not getting mauled against the fence, these little hammerfists doesn’t do much damage to guys with great chins.
GSP however, is one of the most well rounded fighters on the planet, if not the most well rounded, being obviously a great wrestler (or takedown artist), solid BJJ black belt, great ground n pound and he is better than anyone to position himself on the ground, and good striking as well.
this is a bad fight for mir, imo, lose lose… if he loses to someone like kongo who imo will never be more than a gatekeeper he can forget about being in title contention. i was actually hoping for kongo/kimbo before the houston fight was announced… that fight markets itself
Kongo/Kimbo "that fight markets itself" umm... what?

Mir does posses good stand-up, which he displayed against Nog — and whether he was sick or not is irrelevant.
I don’t think Kongo has the tools to beat Mir, and I don’t think his striking is all that spectacular. As long as Mir comes in in the shape he was against Lesnar (part 2) he will handle Kongo easily.

My prediction: Mir by decision.
I think Mir is going to work off his back. With Kongo improving on his ground game and Mir’s weak take downs… If Mir dosent get the sub, Kongo wins. Mir cant take him down and control him the way Cain did.
I think Kongo’s technical striking is excellent. He throws a nice jab that can really put a guy off his game, has good countering and is quite accurate. Problem is, I’m not sure his style really suits him. If he rushed people and really went hard for the finish he could beat guys. But as it is, he doesn’t push the pace, and that lets the other guys control the fight somewhat. Saw it with Cain Velazquez- there were times when he was able to knock him down and be succesful with his striking, but Cain could always just recover and take him down.
Hmm
i want to like mir… i think he is a smart guy, but at the same time he seems to be full of shit.
as much as ppl shit on him, Mir really is a smart guy, and a “true student of the game” to use the cliche.
I like Mir, always have, and think he’ll show us a nice sub here.
