Can't wait

I think Sanchez will put up a great fight. Not sure he will seal the deal but it’ll be a great fight.

I'm the kind of girl who loves to watch a GOOD fight!

man... i WISH diego would get him mad

Just to be sure he gets the right BJ Penn in there with him. Sounds like he’s starting to relax, which is good news for any fighter but BJ.

I see this fight ending FAR faster than the Florian fight. KenFlo was smart enough to get on his bike, try to use his reach, try to create an ambiguous scoring situation. He wanted no part of Penn head-on. I see Diego coming in hard and going down harder.

because you think Penn will win.

Penn is gonna beat that ass.

I like Sanchez, and hope he continues to do well after this fight, but Penn is gonna put it on him. I’m so stoked for this fight. We have one good fighter in Hawaii so I have to get pumped and hope for the best.

Penn/Sanchez is going to be an awesome 13 minutes.

If Diego eats enough Stevia before the fight, it should at least go a few more minutes longer.

This is going to be a good fight. I’m sure Diego will put up a fight, and he’ll show his “Okay, now I’m really angry” face more than once, but Penn should win this one.

i'm a huge diego fan

that being said, i don’t see many avenues for him to win this fight.

grappling < bj
striking ?= bj
cardio >
bjs chin is iron, and we’ve never truly seen diegos tested. but realistically he can’t do what gsp did to bj, and he won’t be able to knock him out. the only way he can win is to win three rounds somehow.

by Austin Martin on Nov 25, 2009 7:28 PM EST reply actions

Yeh i don’t see any way Diego can win but i really don’t care because I’m sure he will find a way to make it exciting as hell as he does with most of his fights.

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

I feel the same way. Diego has to take it beyond the limit. But I will go inSANE if he wins.

by Krimson on Nov 25, 2009 9:02 PM EST up reply actions

So will Diego… well, actually he’s already there.

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

BJ Penn only has slightly more charisma than Tito Ortiz or Josh Koscheck. Luck for him, he’s 1000000x the fighter.

by Carl P on Nov 25, 2009 7:58 PM EST reply actions

i’m scared that bj is gonna lose, he’s my favorite fighter and i always get freaked out before he fights… I don’t think he’s fought somebody like diego

by cagefightonacid on Nov 25, 2009 8:05 PM EST via mobile reply actions

And vice versa. I’d be more nervous as a Diego fan.

by Rich Wyatt on Nov 25, 2009 8:56 PM EST up reply actions

that’s a good point, makes me feel a little better

by cagefightonacid on Nov 25, 2009 11:50 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

If GSP

wasn’t able to finish him, Diego isn’t going to either. GSP is a better fighter, one of a handful to ever pass BJ’s guard. I just don’t see Diego beating him, giving him a run for his money yes, but not winning.

by proflex on Nov 25, 2009 9:50 PM EST up reply actions

Are you talking hypotheticals? Because in the real world GSP finished BJ in the 4th round.

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

by MMAussie on Nov 25, 2009 9:54 PM EST up reply actions

I think he means that GSP never put BJ out cold. BJ actually said that he spent Rounds 3 and 4 drifting in and out of consciousness during the 2nd GSP fight.

BJ is remarkable resilient.

Yeh i figured as much, but i have heard people say that because BJ’s corner quit, it doesn’t count as a legit finish.

You’re right about BJ though, his chin is unbelievable, and the way that he never gets marks or cuts, i am pretty sure you could make a shark suit out of his skin.

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

by MMAussie on Nov 25, 2009 10:14 PM EST up reply actions

lol

Sharkskin suit, thats a good one. I wasn’t trying to imply that the corner pulling him out wasn’t a legit win, a W is a W, doesn’t matter how it happens.

by proflex on Nov 25, 2009 10:16 PM EST up reply actions

True that, a W is W, and no matter how it happens Diego won’t be getting one : )

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

BJ's corner

pulled the plug, I’ll agree that GSP had BJ in a world of trouble, but give him some credit, he never verbally tapped until his corner basically talked him into it. Would GSP done it in the 5th, maybe, but we’ll never know. Diego isn’t GSP, therefore, he won’t do what GSP did, that was basically all I was trying to say.

by proflex on Nov 25, 2009 10:13 PM EST up reply actions

I think that the 4th round stoppage was the best thing that’s ever happened to BJ. Imagine what damage GSP could have done to a 3/4 KOed BJ.

BJ’s corner saved his career.

I give him all the credit in the world, he almost appears unbreakable, or at least unknockoutable (I actually like how that pseudoword sounds). But yeh was just saying GSP did technically finish him. But you’re totally on point that Diego won’t be able to do what GSP did and will in turn end up having a nightmare of a night ahead of him.

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

by MMAussie on Nov 25, 2009 10:19 PM EST up reply actions

Did i just say the nightmare was going to have a nightmare of a night? Ah, so that’s what that ‘preview’ button is for.

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

by MMAussie on Nov 25, 2009 10:24 PM EST up reply actions

worry not

I think everyone understands what you meant. Besides, how can I fault you for that statement when you busted out the big guns with unknockoutable. Me thinks Websters just got a new entry from the world of MMA ;)

by proflex on Nov 25, 2009 10:28 PM EST up reply actions

And you just know it’s got a picture of BJ next to it.

Sorry, he Jason Bourned me.

by MMAussie on Nov 25, 2009 10:32 PM EST up reply actions

I know what you mean, good point

by cagefightonacid on Nov 25, 2009 11:50 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

As much as I don't like BJ,

I don’t see Diego winning this unless they put three blind judges in at ring side. The only area that Diego has any advantage is cardio. If for some insane reason Diego puts BJ on his back, two things will happen, 1) Diego isn’t getting past his guard (ok it’s one thing won’t happen and one will) 2)BJ is either bouncing back up, and thats IF Diego puts him on his back, or, BJ is gonna lock up either an omaplata(hope I spelt that right) or a triangle. It’s almost lose lose.

I like Nightmare but...

Bj is guna smash Diego… But KenFlo and Diego shud have a rematch!!!

This should be good, or at least competitive. I can’t see Diego winning, but I honestly feel that right now, Diego is the biggest threat to BJ at Lightweight. I see the fight staying standing with Diego attempting takedowns, but they will get stuffed. I wonder if this fight is going to decision or not?
