Ya know, I’m all for a fighter “creating” opportunity for himself, but Hardy is potentially setting himself up for two straight beatdowns.

I agree

I mean I wanted Dan Hardy to beat Mike Swick earlier on because I wanted GSP to destroy him so we wouldn’t have to listen to him for 2 years, but now I am starting to throughoughly enjoy him.

Indeed

I’m loving his verbal/psychological assault tactics, but Koscheck is an entirely different animal compared to Swick. He’ll hurt you.

Having the title shot opportunity is more important then taking a lesser fight and winning. And the more heat he builds for a fight with Kos, the more eyes will see it and him. Its a smart move, even if he loses. People hate Kos and that will make it easy to pull for Dan and pulling for him will make forgiving the loss easier.

He may not have anything more than a puncher’s chance against GSP, but if Kos tries to stand-up with Hardy like he has with everyone else lately, he will get put to sleep. Hardy’s got such technically sound striking, combined with very good power, and he would absolutely pick Kos apart on the feet. Other than Anderson and Machida, nobody in the UFC does a better job of never taking their eyes off of an opponent during striking exchanges. Hardy would make Kos pay every single time he drops his head to throw that wild overhand right.

I can’t stand him. I guess I like people being polite.

hmmm why dont they make him and Kos the coaches for the next season of TUF. If he loses his fight with GSP then hes the win Koscheck needs to get a shot if he wins then Kos gets his shot after the show is over and also it wont hold the title hostage for too long

by Riley_96 on Nov 24, 2009 10:22 AM EST reply actions

That was pretty weak.

I’m getting to enjoy Hardy’s act, but I don’t think he should comment on Kos’ record considering the quality of fighters that Kos has been fighting compared to Hardy and the number of times Kos has come in on short notice to save a card.

by Razreshat on Nov 24, 2009 10:28 AM EST reply actions

I like his attitude

but I don’t think he’d win a fight against Kos

Hardy is going to catch one hell of an ass kicking when Kos gets a hold of him.

I’d give Hardy a bit more of a chance than youse guys are seeming to. Koscheck’s striking is decent but pretty predictable, not really enough to hang with Hardy’s technical abilities on the feet. The obvious question is whether he can do enough wrestling to neutralize, threaten, and possibly submit Hardy. I’d be very interested to see how that pans out .

If they make the fight coming off a GSP loss, the perception will probably be that he has no chance because Rush makes everyone look like they’ve never wrestled before. But Hardy’s takedown defense is improving notably, and who knows how much better it could get after training for two wrestlers in a row?

Dan Hardy is a star in the making.

by mmalogic on Nov 24, 2009 11:32 AM EST reply actions

His star is outpacing his skills as a fighter, and his skills are growing fast so thats not an easy thing to do.

Hardy is underrated the haters will hate, i personally think he’ll watch the Paulo Thiago fight and use that as instructions on how to set up his nice hooks.

…. what was that on the other side? looked like a round rock – not quite symmetrical as to be a baseball.

Koscheck could win it with wrestling, but we also know he’s too stupid to use his best skills nearly all the time these days, unless he has a serious attitude adjustment, I can’t see anything but a RD 1 (T)KO Hardy win in this one.

Hardy is 5-0 in the UFC so far

Why are people completely underestimating him?

And GSP?

Cause last I checked he was the #1 contender for the title. Most ppl would be more focused on their next match than their possibility. If he continues he’s gonna get run over.

And over and over and over….

I’d rather watch Koscheck fight Hardy than see GSP pull down Hardy’s panties. And have GSP fight Anderson Silva. Then when that fight is over GSP and Silva can go back to cleaning out their divisions. Alhough I think Koscheck poses the biggest challenge to GSP.
