That’s a great card.

Also, I wonder what weight Texeira-Monson will be held at

I remember Texeira fighting exclusively at 205…perhaps this will be Monson’s test fight to see if he can continue to make the cut and join Strikeforce’s light heavyweight division as previously rumored?

by Scott Haber on Nov 23, 2009 1:54 PM EST up reply actions

Monson said on his Sherdog interview he was dropping to 205.

as long as the ufc doesn’t sign half these dudes before they fight

and speaking of monson… what happened to those two high profile heavyweights strikeforce was supposedly going to announce a week after the cbs show?

by woooburn on Nov 23, 2009 2:34 PM EST up reply actions

I think he actually said next couple of weeks he’ll have news but still… what’s the news?

Even though Monson hasn’t fought at LHW for a long time I don’t see that much extra muscle that he has added on that wouldn’t be equally as managable to cut off from the first times he would cut to 205. It will be at 205 and Monson will most likely fight at LHW from here on out. People act like because he has a little more muscle and is older that its not possible or wouldnt happen. That being said this is going to be a good fight and I would like to see both of them in Strikeforce.

Pretty precipitous drop off from the first show. Not a lot of relevant fights here, but some fun ones nonetheless.

The main event is almost guaranteed comedy. I predict a wacky/controversial finish. Rua/Jones is actually kinda hot.

Glad to see Glover staying active though, and good to know Tom Speer is alive and not still fetal positioned against the cage base.

yeah, i was surprised to see that speer has fought four more times since. thought i’d read that he hung em up.

haha rec’d for the tom speer fetal positioned bit.

Something weird/entertaining is sure to happen when Jason Jones and Valentijn are fighting on the same card right after each other.

If they can keep up cards like these last 2 cards...

… this could quickly become Brazil’s premier MMA org.

by TDITZ on Nov 23, 2009 2:42 PM EST reply actions

They could

if they paid their fighters. Word on the grapevine is that nobody has been paid for the last card yet. Worse than DREAM.

by pdl on Nov 23, 2009 7:13 PM EST up reply actions

and they aren’t developing new talent. Banking on old names to carry the cards. It’s like taking the worst parts of Affliction and DREAM and thinking it will work if you throw an old school legends name on it.

by pdl on Nov 23, 2009 7:14 PM EST up reply actions

Ouch

I hadn’t heard that. Let’s hope things get worked out. I also agree about banking on old names. But, if the can get people’s attention with these names to star, then slowly bring along talent against the legends, we could see some new stars.

I thought Speer announced his retirement.

Jason Jones vs Ninja is FIRE! Looking forward to that fight.

Love Tommy Speer

had dominating victories over War Machine, Saunders, and Sotiropoulos, who have since went a combined 9-2 in the UFC. Poor guy got thrown to the wolves having to fight Anthony Johnson in his first post-TUF fight.
