Will Kimbo come back (even thoug Demico Rogers is better and is uninjured)?

Justin Wren would be an even better replacement imo

At least he won his first fight.

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

I don’t know why Team Rashad would want to replace an injured compeditor with someone from the other team.

Justin Wren is on Team Rashad.

I was talking about why everyone was jumping to the conclusion that Kimbo would come back.

Yeah, I’m not exactly sure why. When Mitrione was injured it seemed like Rashad was even hinting at Kimbo being put back in if Mitrione bowed out.

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

I’m guessing this might not be 100% their choice.

by ufc4 on Nov 22, 2009 11:17 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

my guess is that the dumb “twist” they refer to is that they offer kimbo a chance to come back and he turns it down (to rehab his knee and fight houston instead).

by woooburn on Nov 22, 2009 8:42 PM EST up reply actions

That's my guess as well

First part of your theory may be correct..

But to avoid coming back to fight Houston wasn’t even a consideration at that point in time.

He didn’t avoid coming back because he thought he would get a “bigger” fight next. Houston just got his license late last month so that wasn’t even a sure thing at the time of filming.

My guess is they inquire to him about his willingness to get back in. At this point he could still get back in the competition, win or lose, and still make the finale with Houston. Say he gets in and wins against James.. He could very easily lose his next fight in the semi’s or he could have won that fight and could not continue because of his knee forcing him out of the competition too. Or he could fight James and lose.. Or not fight at all.. There is no way to know for sure at this point because they have kept a tight lid on this thing this year.

Schaub/Nelson is definitely happening?

I thought they hadn’t made any final matches yet, it was to be decided after the semis were over.

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

by lowellthehammer on Nov 22, 2009 8:40 PM EST reply actions

Look at it again. It doesn’t say “Schaub vs Nelson” like it does for all the match-ups. It says “Schuab AND Nelson”. Its just indicating that they both moved to the next round

I literally noticed it right after I posted, but there’s no way to delete posts that I know of.

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

It looks like there’s going to be five cast members who aren’t given a chance to fight on the finale. Any guesses?

I’m thinking Jensen, Shivers and Wagner won’t be seen in the UFC. I thought Rogers looked better than most of Rampage’s team but he’s been given no airtime since losing his fight so he might miss out too.

by rabrown on Nov 22, 2009 8:41 PM EST reply actions

I'm going to guess that it will be Roy Nelson vs Marcus Jones in the Finale

As far as who I think the UFC will keep from this season of Heavyweights, I think that they will keep (and this is just in general) Schaub, McSweeney, Jones, Rogers, Wren, Kimbo of course, Nelson (despite Dana hating his guts), Madsen, and possibly Shivers and Schoonover. There is always a need for Heavyweights, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see A LOT of these fighters signed.

by chrisbboy82 on Nov 22, 2009 9:26 PM EST reply actions

They’ll have to bring in a new one three minute round heavyweight fight format

by TLow on Nov 22, 2009 9:29 PM EST up reply actions

I know what you mean, but being in the TUF house and fighting so frequently really without their normal training camps is not the best way to judge these fighters. Heavyweights just generally gas, but with nothing but food and alcohol in a house full of guys with no real entertainment, the cardio is going to really go out the window.

Schaub

Almost has to make it to the finals. MMAjunkie blogger spoiler never fails. NEVER.

I think it might be a toss up between Jones and Nelson. I have to assume they match these two up (no easy road for Big Country). Marcus’ power and own jiu-jitsu skills might be enough to beat Nelson.

I can’t imagine someone as green as Jones beating Roy Nelson on the ground.

by ufc4 on Nov 22, 2009 11:20 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

That's what I was thinking

and Jones’ stand up didn’t look great, I figure Nelson would be able to at least avoid it

by Shaun32887 on Nov 22, 2009 11:34 PM EST up reply actions

I definitely see

Nelson as the favorite. Marcus is a little green against Roy but I think I’d give Marcus a good shot to pull off the upset. He definitely doesn’t beat Roy on the ground but he can catch Roy with his reach and stay on top.

I think Schaub ultimately gets the easier matchup though.

You think so?

Mitrione over McSweeny maybe, but how do you figure Schoonover beats Jones?

This finale card looks great. Really looking forward to it more than the past several TUF Finales for sure. I hope there’s time to see the Stann/Wallace fight.

Houston knocks Kimbo the fuck out IMO
