Brock Lesnar: Diverticulitis
After days of speculation of Brock Lesnar's possible career ending malady, it looks like some answers are surfacing. According to WCCO-AM in Minneapolis, Brock has a severe case of diverticulitis.....
"A source told WCCO that Lesnar has a severe case of diverticulitis, a disease where small pouches form in the digestive system. "
This can be somewhat nasty if symptoms are not caught early, which obviously they were not. In some cases huge chunks of intestine need to be removed. This would severely impact Brock's athletic career. Hopefully this was minor and he will make a full recovery.

This is not a good sign for his career IMO. Though treatable, this isn’t something that can be fully cured once it progresses to a point where surgery is necessary. My mom has it, and she has to be really careful about her diet, and even then has numerous days in a year when she is in pain, and can’t really do a whole lot. It took a long time to diagnose properly as well. She’s 60, so maybe Brock’s relative youth and superb physical condition will make this easier to deal with, but if it’s diverticulitis, it’s no guarantee he’s going to be 100% ever again, even with the most advanced care and treatment. It tends to reoccur and flare up with bloating, intestinal pain, and occasional reinfection of these pouches due to food particles getting trapped in them. Hope he can beat the odds on this.

Yuck, sounds like your mom has a pretty nasty case of it.
I’ve worked with people who have diverticulitis, and usually it’s not a huge issue for them. But if it’s left untreated for decades, it can really get out of control, which it sounds like happened to your mom.
Brock’s a little young to be diagnosed with this, so it’s probably a good omen for his life/career. Still, it’s incredibly serious, but a guy who obviously views his body as his means of income and stardom will take good care of himself w/r/t this illness, and I’d lay good odds that he comes back alright.
Of course, Brock is a bit of an odd case for a world-class athlete. With most guys, they couldn’t have walked away from the $7m/year he was making in the WWF, but he was just sick of it. Who knows how he’ll react to this situation.
There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt.
Good to hear from someone who obviously knows more than I do. As to my Mom, she’s mostly fine, but this really did a number on her ability to do anything physically demanding. The damn thing just kept coming back for several years, even after it had been identified, and as it started up when she was 54/55, it really took away her ability to stay in shape, and caused a lot of anxiety, depression, and weight gain, which probably added to the problems. Good to hear your perspective, thanks!
