Reed Harris Trashes Tatame.com, UFC-WEC Merger Rumor

Tatame.com published a story citing sources "close to the WEC", that claimed that a WEC-UFC merger was imminent. After reading this, WEC President, Reed Harris does a Dana White and starts rage-typing on The UG, going on about how that "Sh*t website" always fabricates their stories:

I normally don't even bother commenting on stories like this...but this site has done this before and I cant let it go time after time. Whats great about this story...is that this so called MMA website quoted "a source close to the WEC".

This is the same web site the said Fabiano was coming to the fighter summit two weeks ago to learn how the merger would work. I spoke to Fabiano at the summit and he had no idea where that came from and was pissed they used him to try to push some agenda.

I can tell you..this is a lie.  No one at WEC would:

A).  Make a comment about any business decision to Tatame...period.  In fact, I have never had a conversation with them about anything.

B). Would make an announcement that we will merge in January when we have a show scheduled in Ohio in March.

c).  Announce or even discuss anything WEC with a sh*t web site like them  :) (wouldn't there be better places to announce such big news).

Don't play their game...what they do is make up stories, feed them to the other sites and try to drive traffic to their web site to sell advertising.  Yet time and time again their stories end up being false.

Dont be a victim.

Reed is channeling his inner Dana, he is right though, is Tatame really that unethical?

What did they do that was unethical?

If they fabricated a story like he claims, that’s pretty unethical

There’s no evidence they did. Just because Harris doesn’t know who their source is doesn’t mean they don’t exist. He obviously doesn’t like the rumors because it could mean his job but it’s not his decision to make in the first place.

Tatame’s always had good stuff on Brazilian fighters and I’d be surprised if they flat out made up a story. It’s possible they had a bad source obviously.

Not quite DW

The man censored himself to a marginal curse word. Still, point made and I can side with Reed being understandably angry.

I agree

I think that all these recent main event fallouts shows that the UFC really can fit the lighter weights in. To be honest, the UFC’s LW division could use some new blood (especially guys like Varner, Smooth Hendo, Cerrone, and Horodecki), and having FW + BW would be fantastic. Giving the lighter weight classes more exposure (and UFC level pay) would be just what they needed to attract even more of the top talent in the world.

They could just increase the amount of UFN’s that they have (like 1 a month), and do the televised undercards like they have been. Also, this would be a great way to revamp TUF- think of them doing a season of FW’s w/ the winner of Brown & Aldo coaching opposite someone like Faber. Or a BW season w/ Bowles vs. Torres. That would be a great way to give all the WEC’s stars some legitimate national exposure, and could help solve some of the problems the UFC has been having lately.

Not to even mention the kind of financial & business turmoil the WEC has had lately. I say they finish that VS contract asap and merge.

Either way

Will the WEC please make up its ****ing mind already either add at 125lb division and a womens division and get rid of the 155 or bring everybody to the ufc… thats just it

It's gonna happen... regardless of what Harris says.

If the WEC is gonna try and stay around and do the PPV model, I’d hope they’d at least add Flyweights already.

I’m all for that, but it’s not like Flyweights are going to do any business on pay per view for a good while, at best.
