UFC 106 Preview: Tito Ortiz Talks Forrest Griffin
I look at the last couple of guys that Forrest lost to. Rashad Evans? I thought I beat Rashad, and Forrest lost to him. Anderson Silva is another guy that Forrest lost to. I would like to get in there with Anderson. That would be pretty good. Maybe in the future. I still have to get a little bit of the ring rust off.I don't see anything different in Forrest Griffin. I see the same weaknesses that he has, you know? He doesn't punch hard. When we fought the first time, he didn't punch hard. I've come to realize that he doesn't have much weight on his punches. He's a lot slower on his feet now. I mean, he's a LOT slower. I just realized how much slower he's gotten.Forrest is going to come out like he always does: rough and tough for the first two minutes, but he'll dwindle after that. Before he knows it, he's going to be on his back eating punches and elbows. He'll be eating an elbow sandwich.Talking to all the other promotions was a negotiation tactic on my part. I never wanted to fight anywhere else. You want to fight against the best guys in the world? You're fighting in the UFC. If you fight anywhere else, you're fighting against second-rate guys. And I never wanted that, I wanted to give my fans the best fights possible, and the UFC is where those fights were at.I had to stand my ground, and I won. I raised the bar for all the other fighters. They don't know it yet, but I did. I'm very thankful for how forgiving Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta are, and I'm thankful to Dana for being a man of his word. It's nice to be back in the UFC machine.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Tito vs Anderson.
Tito has good style for Anderson. Takedown, elbows from guard, repeat. Tito’s head is also a 40lb medicine ball.
Keep firing Assholes!
The only thing Fishbob does consistently is dissapoint.
Yeah, Ortiz would be an interesting fight. If he could survive to get in close, it would get interesting fast….

Do you know what really irritates me? When people wear a too big suit jacket over a fucking patterned T-Shirt to look cool
Yeah,
Its like a douchebag from the mid 90s look.

Don't be a foo!
Tito says stay in school! Good Interview overall.
for all intents and purposes, just consider all my posts as works of satire.
"Forrest is going to come out like he always does: rough and tough for the first two minutes, but he'll dwindle after that."
Um, that’s not what I have seen. Forrest has repeatedly shown that he is actually a more dangerous fighter after he has taken a few shots. That was especially clear in Tito vs. Forrest 1. Not that it has worked for him in last 2 fights, but I would hardly say that Forrest always starts strong and then dwindles. If anything, it’s the opposite.

I have no respect for anyone who wears sunglasses indoors, but he’s probably wearing them to conceal his black eye(s).

he has a shiner
"I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight what you saw, in the ring"
He still remembers how to run his mouth
Lets see what 2 years of ring rust do to him, the game has changed Tito can you keep up?

Wow
Tito always tries to ride off of other’s accomplishments and success. Forrest went on to be the champ and I beat Forrest. Randy Couture did this and I also did this. Rashad went on to be the champ and I split with Rashad. Just prove yourself without biting off of others.
“Let me tell ya how you’re feeling right now”
Look I hate Tito as much as the next guy but if there is a fighter out there who doesn’t need to base his own success off someone else it’s Tito Ortiz, the longest reigning LHW champ in UFC history.

Not to mention, fighting-aside
He was (Or is still?) a HUGE draw for the company, unlike much of the current roster. He’s accomplished a lot in that regard.
agreed
and let us not forget his last run in the UFC should have ended 1-1, not 0-1-1. He beat Evans, though he may not have won the fight and while he decisively lost to Machida he didn’t look utterly foolish against the current champ.
We're just a million little gods causin' rain storms, turning every good thing to rust.

Did Tito forget the last time he fought Forrest?
Because if I remember correctly it was him who came out and definitively won the first round only to do absolutely nothing but get outstruck in the second and arguably the third.
Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

he might be trying to bait Forrest
into coming out aggressive in the first.

The amazing thing to me?
Forrest is actually the betting favorite.
I’ll be visiting the Luxor sportsbook the moment my Vegas flight lands on Wednesday.

If he’s healthy, Tito smashes Forrest. Not sure how his back is though. Backs are tricky.

I think Forrest is going to run over Tito. He just had major back surgery, and has been training for what, 3 months now? I think this is going to be sad and one-sided unless Tito has a miraculous recovery.
I’ve seen what Quarry’s movement was like coming off that surgery. Tito’s shots will be slow and stilted, I don’t expect an explosive performance at all.
Our crew that went to Big Bear said Tito looked fantastic in training. He’s explosive and far more powerful than he has been in the past. It looks like he may be telling the truth about his recovery, and if he is, he’s going to run right over Forrest in this fight.

We’ll see. At this point it’s Charlie Brown syndrome with his restarts, I don’t believe at all we will see “the old Tito.” It never happens, not for anyone.
