Another "journalist" just doesn't get it.
Being a Miami Dolphins fan, I usually enjoy Greg Cote's pieces as they can be fairly sarcastic and amusing to read, however after reading his piece today in which he touches on Dana White going to visit the University of Miami as part of an entrepreneurial workshop......
• University of Miami on Monday plays host to an entrepreneurial workshop featuring UFC boss Dana White. Sure, that makes sense. What serves a respected university's reputation and educational mission better than aligning with a man who runs America's bloodiest, most violent ``sport?''

I'm not sure what I find more hilarious the fact that he's concerned about the fact a legitimate and incredibly successful businessman is going to somehow tarnish the reputation of the U of Miami, a school that doesn't exactly have the squeak clean look. The fact that this guy covers the NFL a league/sport (that I do enjoy by the way) in which a follower is lucky not to hear about a player being arrested or under investigation on a weekly basis, or the fact that he tries to be cheeky by saying "sport".
Anyways I thought I'd share because I know that some of you guys like to write these guys, and I always love hearing what/if any response there is.

Attended Bethune-Cookman, dropped out. Quite the story, actually. The truth of Kimbo Slice is actually more interesting (and I’d say more inspiring) than the legend. One arrest, not for violence, charges dropped. Worked to stay alive washing cars and bouncing clubs, and eventually backyard fights. Could have chosen a much different path…

Not to mention that high level football is arguably more dangerous than MMA.

We just have to expect this stuff from mainstream columnists/journalists. Especially from football. They get ideas in their heads and they just stick.
It’s hard not to argue that way with the sample data from each sport. Not that it’s fair, considering the time span for one sport is much shorter than the other, nore are there as many Mixed Martial Artists competing at the sport’s highest level as there are football players competing at their sports’ highest level.
Which is to say, I agree with what you said.
I think at this point there are two types of journalists who still lambast the UFC and derisively refer to it as a “sport” in quotes: the old salt who just won’t understand it in the same way he doesn’t understand computers, texting, and video games, and the dope that’s looking to rile up the MMA fan base in order to make a name for himself.
On the internet, we refer to these folks as trolls.

The U!
The pristine reputation of THE U (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrDWBW2S3Kg) should never be tarnished in any way!!

Hmm...
Are you sure he just wasn’t trying to be sarcastic?
