As with every major show, BloodyElbow.com will be here to bring you "live" results and commentary for UFC 105: Randy Couture vs Brandon Vera. The live blog will start with the beginning of the Spike TV broadcast at 8PM ET so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.
As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the event in the comments of this thread until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.

Ross Pearson vs. Aaron Riley Round 1 Lightweights square off with Mark Goddard as the ref. Riley takes center cage. Pearson circling. Tons of feints from both fighters. Pearson with a high kick. Pearson lands a short right. Another. Very crisp and straight punches from Pearson. Pearson with a combo ending with a head kick. Pearson gets the Thai plum. Lands a hard uppercut, a straight, body shot, knee. Pearson scoring repeatedly. The UK crowd is roaring. Riley circles away. Pearson with a body kick. I'm very impressed with Pearson. Pearson with a superman punch but eats a kick. Riley firing punches. Pearson with knees and a high kick. Riley goes for a knee tap takedown, fails. Pearson with a body punch. Pearson back to the Thai plum, scores again and again with knees then punches. BloodyElbow scores it 10-9 for Pearson. Round 2 Pearson immediately establishes the plum and scores. I never thought I'd see a veteran American MMA fighter like Riley get manhandled by a Brit and TUF winner. Pearson isn't your usual Brit fighter. A really weak knee tap attempt by Riley. Pearson muscling Riley against the cage. More knees. Pearson scores with a punching combo. More. Pearson ducks a hook and scores with punches. A body kick. Riley with a knee. Pearson with punches. Riley misses with a superman punch. Pearson answers a high kick with punches. Back to the plum, more knees, one a flying knee with hand on the back of the head. Riley is cut bad. The ref stops the action to check out Riley. It's over. Ross Pearson by TKO over Aaron Riley at 4:38 of the 2nd.
James Wilks vs Matt Brown Round 1 More TUF veterans. Brown with a leg kick. Wilks with a body lock, working for a takedown. Brown pummels out, Wilks peppering with strikes. Works for the double. Wilks jumps on his back, slides off. Brown with a guillotine attempt. Wilks gets his head out. The ref breaks them up. Brown with punches and kicks. Wilks shoots again. Brown stuffs it. They clinch again and the ref breaks them up. Wilks with a combination to answer a kick from Brown. Wilks drives Brown into the cage again. Mouse under Wilks' eye. Wilks working for a single. Doesn't get it. Wilks working for the Thai plum. Brown with a guillotine. Wilks escapes, working for a double, gets it! Brown looking for a kimura, stands up. They separate and exchange strikes as the round ends. Very close round. Bloody Elbow scores it 10-9 for James Wilks. Round 2 Trading shots to start the round. Brown with a high kick. Brown drops him with a flying kness! Follows him down for a beating on the ground. Wilks going for a leg. Eating punches. Wilks threatening a leg lock! Brown escapes. They stand, Brown with a guillotine. Brown with knees. Wilks working a single leg. They separate. Brown with knee/elbow combo. Brown with knees. Wilks mouthbreathing, looking for the single, Brown looking for a kimura. Brown working for a takedown. Wilks looks battered. Wilks is fighting for the takedown. Ref forces a break. Brown scores with punches. Drops Wilks. Follows him down. Brown gets sidemount. Wilks looking for a double from bottom, nothing. Wilks reverses him into side control! Great heart from the Englishman. Brown wiggles toward guard. Gets it. Brown threatening a triangle to end the round. Bloody Elbow scores is 10-9 for Matt Brown. Round 3 Wilks with an inside kick. Brown scoring with punches. They clinch up again. Brown throwing knees to the face. Wilks gets his back standing. Wilks looking for a kimura. He's got Brown in danger. Wilks is twisting the arm! Brown rolling, escapes! Brown threatening a guillotine, gets full mount. Battering Wilks. Wilks rolls over and the ref stops it. Matt Brown by TKO at 2:27 of the third round. Great fight. Much better than I expected from either athlete.
Andre Winner vs Rolando Delgado Round 1 Delgado is a freakishly tall lightweight. This is one from the undercard. Delgado with a high kick, flying knee. Winner throwing back. Winner drops Delgado with a right hand. Delgado gets back to his feet. They clinch. Delgado firing knees. Winner tagging him with punches. Delgado with a kick. Winner with some hard punches to the face. More. Leg kick. Has Delgado limping. Winner with a huge right hook for the finish! Winner by KO at 3:22 of the first round.
Michael Bisping vs Denis Kang Two fighters looking for redemption here. Great matchmaking. Bisping's hair is longer than I've ever seen it. Round 1 Bisping with a high kick. Kang with a leg kick. Bisping grabs a kick. Kang gets free. Lots of feints here. Kang drops him with a right. Follows him down, into Bisping's full guard. Gets to half-guard quickly. Kang gets to side-mount. Bisping regains 1/2 guard. Bisping defending well from the bottom. Kang is focused on passing. Tries for mount, Bisping back to 1/2 guard. Kang gets mount. Bisping hips out again! Great defense from Bisping on the bottom. Kang gets to mount again. Bisping back to 1/2 guard! Bisping back to full guard. Kang throwing elbows, Bisping goes for an armbar, Kang goes to side-control. Bisping back to 1/2 guard. Bloody Elbow scores it 10-9 for Denis Kang. Round 2 Bisping's been told to circle right. We'll see if he does it. Circling left already. Kang jabbing. Kang with a big right, misses. Kang throwing jabs. Kang looking to land the right. Bisping fires a high kick, misses. Bisping shoots, gets a single, turns the corner, has him down. Kang in guard. Bisping firing hard shots from the top. Crowd is going crazy. Bisping scoring with ground and pound. Kang stands but he's bloodied. Bisping shoots again. Dropping elbows. Kang is taking a beating. Back to his feet. Kang is very bloodied. Kang is wobbled. Bisping scores with two lefts. A combination. Kang is staggered. They're trading. Bisping gets another takedown. More ground and pound. Knees to the body of a turtled Kang. The ref stops it. Huge win for Michael Bisping by TKO at 4:24 of the second round.
Alexander Gustafsson vs. Jared Hamman Round 1 Another from the undercard. They are trading bombs to begin. Hamman scoring with rights. An eye poke pause. Hamman is ok. Gustafsson lands a short sharp straight right for the finish! Gustafsson gets the KO at 0:41.
Mike Swick vs Dan Hardy Champ Georges St Pierre is watching cageside with Dana White. The winner will get GSP. Round 1 Hardy catches Swick coming in with a hard right. Swick drives him into the cage. Knee to the nuts of Hardy pauses the action. Back to cage center. Swick shoots under a hook. Swick working for a takedown against the cage but Hardy is staying up. Hardy spins Swick against the cage. Landing knees to the body. Bloody Elbow scores it 10-9 for Hardy. Round 2 Dan Hardy stund Swick AGAIN to start the round. For some reason he pushes forward into the clinch. They're trading punches and knees in the clinch. Hardy with hard body shots. Swick with a hard right to the face. Hardy with a mean uppercut. Swick shakes it off. They get separated. Trading leg kicks. Swick scores with a combination. Swick with a superman punch. Bloody Elbow scores it 10-9 Dan Hardy. Round 3 Hardy comes out kicking. They trade. Swick driving Hardy back with punches but gets staggered. They trade. Hardy hurts him. Again, Hardy forces it into the cage. Hardy gets a double leg takedown! Hardy landing elbows. In Swick's guard, landing elbows. Swick bleeding from the back of the head. Swick goes for a triangle. They stand. Hardy scores with a left hook. Swick's title shot hopes are fading fast. Hardy holds his hand to his ear to enjoy the crowd's chants of his name. Hardy chasing Swick back. Swick flailing. Bloody Elbow scores the round 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Dan Hardy. We'll see what the judges say. Dan Hardy wins by unanimous decision.
Randy Couture vs Brandon Vera Round 1 Vera comes out firing. Lands with a kick follows with a combination. Vera muscles Couture but Randy reverses and gets Vera's back to the cage. The crowd is chanting RANDY RANDY. Couture working for a takedown. Ref restarts, Couture immediately shoots to the clinch. Couture gets him down. Vera back up. They're fighting in the clinch. Very hard round to score. Bloody Elbow scores it 10-9 for Randy Couture. Round 2 Opening exchanges at a distance favor Vera but Couture gets it up against the cage. Ref separates them. Vera hurts Couture wit ha series of high and body kicks and knees. Vera follows him down to Couture's guard. Couture survives and fights to his feet. Lands an uppercut. Bloody Elbow scores it 10-9 for Brandon Vera. Round 3 Couture comes out aggressive in the final round, landing a combination standing and pushing Vera into the cage. Couture landing knees from the clinch. Punches. Elbows. Ref separates them. Vera scores with another kick to the body. Hurts Couture. Head kick. Couture closes the distance. They clinch. Vera working for the Thai plum but that's just dumb against Couture. They're clinching. Vera gets Couture down. Gets mount. Only thirty seconds left. Couture fights to his feet. They're trading. Bloody Elbow scores the round 10-9 and the fight 29-28 for Brandon Vera. We'll see what the judges say. All three judges rule it 29-28 for Randy Couture.

I think the story of this fight is correctly throwing punches. Hardy was putting his hips into his shots and was getting a lot more power whereas swick seemed to be throwing a lot of arm punches without much force behind it. It seemed to me, though I could be completely wrong, that they landed about equally in terms of quantity but the quality was all Hardy
Swick got rocked 20 seconds in, everything else was gravy.

I watched this fight with my 77 year old grandfather, I’d say he reminds me more of my father. Albeit, a really attractive paternal figure.

Credit isn’t to be given, it’s earned, and it doesn’t carry over from fight to fight. You tried to paint it as Couture dominating Vera simply by leaning against the cage. Further, your argument was weakened by bring the Machida fight into it, since most believe Machida lost.
Anyway, I think Vera won all 3 rounds, but there was so much inactivity and leaning and whatnot, the judges’ decision did not surprise me.

agree with the abundance of inactivity which is why I feel more heat should go to the ref, whoever that was, for his reluctance to separate the fighters quicker and more often. Maybe if he did, we would have had a more decisive victory.

I have no problem with him winning that fight. I just think, with all the talk of lay n pray lately, we finally got to witness what a TRUE lay n pray (or cage hump) is. He effectively nullified most of Veras offense, while controlling him against the cage.

What a bs decision
I had it 29-27 vera (i give that first “round” a 9-9 but i can easily see it going to randy for “octagon control”). The first round was abysmal though. The ref should have separated them quicker and more. There was no action from randy in the clinch, just a lot of leaning. Second round is obviously Vera, Randy was seriously hurt from those body kicks. Third round again I felt was obviously Vera, Randy had some “octagon control” which again should have separated for inactivity for more early and often but it was Vera who did more dmg with strikes and even scored a late takedown and mount, which I figured all but sealed it. I am not a Vera AT ALL or a huge Couture fan. Horrible judging (yet again) and bad reffing are to blame.

He knows how they score it, we disagree with the results, but that’s how they score MMA, you can disagree with the decision, but you can’t be that surprised.

UFC Does it Again
Another horrible judges scorecard. Couture completely lost that fight. He controlled holding Vera up against the fence and did nothing. Every time they were separated Vera landed big fight ending shots. The first round, give it to no one, give it to the ref for not separating them more, but the second round was definitely Vera’s and the third at best a draw. But there is no way that fight was not Vera’s. Complete horse manure. The fight should not be given to Couture to promote holding a guy against a fence and boring the fans. Atrocious.
