if Leben is successful in his next fight, I’d love to see these two duke it out… again.

The problem is that they didn’t duke it out; rather, they hugged against the fence and foot-stomped each other.

I didn’t expect him to be out 18 months… ouch. Best of luck to Cote, I hope he works on his ground game, it was seriously lacking when compared to his standup.

Can’t wait to see Cote in action again. I truly believe the reason Silva didn’t finish him was because he couldn’t, not because he was playing around.
Cote’s striking has become much more technical in the last couple years, and his chin may literally be the best in the business. Combine that with big KO power and he is going to be a problem for anybody in the standup department, including Silva.
Hopefully when he comes back, he proves me right on this statement. That’s why the Leben rematch is a great idea, as I think Cote gets the KO in round 1 this time.

You are joking right??
Watch the Anderson fight and you can plainly tell that he was just toying with Cote, it was like a cat with a mouse. I also believe that if he knock out Leben when his chin was at its strongest, he could knock out Cote. Cote does hit hard, thats a no brainer, but i dout he would give Anderson fits.
Everyone has a game plan, untell they get hit.

To be honest
I always found Cote to be a mid-tier to barely upper mid-tier Middleweight. My basis being that his record only shows him beating mid-tier and lower-tier Middleweights. However, I will give him the benefit that I do feel that he would be competitive with most of the elite Middleweights out there. He’s definitely a fighter that really needs to prove himself (to me) to even be considered a top Middleweight.

Another no brainer, is that Anderson likes to counter punch and was “toying” with Cote, so he would get frustrated and attack.
Griffin fell into that trap and we all know what happened there.

He's been out?
I forgot about him faster than I forgot about the last guy Silva defended his title against.

i like cote alot and loook forward to seeing him back. he is a much improved fighter than the one who got subbed in the 1rst by lutter during their tuf finale. no he can’t beat silva, but who can? i think he can and will give fits to every other mw out there. him vs the winner of wandy/akiyama would make for a great fight.

That really would be a good fight
I spent the day watching TUF 4 again, so I’m feeling sympathetic towards Cote and Serra.
I think Akiyama would be a good fight, but Wandy would be a guaranteed FOTN

Wanderlei is a tall order, even when you aren’t coming off a loss and 1.5 years of ring rust. Akiyama is nothing to scoff at either. Someone like Tim Credeur would be a better “welcome back” fight to him. Also, Dana could use him to serve Alessio Sakara his walking papers. Or maybe throw him against Nate Quarry on a Spike card for guaranteed action from former TUFers on relatively affordable contracts. Given his inactivity and the fact that he is still coming off a high profile loss, these fights make much more sense to me.

It looks like Credeur is fighting Mike Massenzio at UFN 20.

In January. Cote says he’s aiming for April. A 3 month turnaround should be plenty of time.

Credeur would be a nice fight
but I don’t Credeur much of a chance. Almedia couldn’t sub Cote, and Credeur’s head is a nice, large, stationary object. Yeah, Tim’s had some striking success, but he’s not going to put Cote away.

Travis Lutter sub'd him
I finish beers at 1:55.

Yeah, but I think he’s grown a LOT since then

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Cote for derailing the Kendall Grove hype train
I think he was really developing before the injury and was put in a title shot he should have been nowhere near. I think with a little more grappling acumen and the dynamite he has in his fists, he can be a force at 185 even if he never sniffs the belt again.
Anyone else wanna see Cote v. Bisping?
We're just a million little gods causin' rain storms, turning every good thing to rust.

Here’s the Cote vs Kendall fight. Gotta love that hook that floored Kendall.

I’d love seeing Bisping fight Cote after he loses to Kang.

How about that?
I mention the guy on Friday, and he Twitters a couple days later. Unless Silva vacated the division, it’s hard to envision a scenario where Cote is holding the belt, but it will be good to see him back in the cage. Amazing that a non-contact injury can keep a guy out for so long.

Don’t forget he got re-injured during training and thus, here we are today.
