Why yes, I do. Thank you for asking!

I read awhile back that Renzo plans on coming back as a LW. There could be at least a dozen potentially intriguing match-ups in the UFC’s LW division. Also, his gym is practically right next to Madison Square Garden, so when the UFC finally gets here, they can have a hometown guy on the card.

I’ll pass. I know I sound like a dick but I dunno. I have no real interest in watching Renzo get his face pounded in by the UFC roster.

I second that. I’m getting flashbacks of Hughes fight with Royce. I have no desire to watch. Hughes needs to fight top WW’s that are currently in the UFC or just retire.

hughes isn't exactly in title contention right now

and isn’t really relative to anything in the division

so why not?

Because I'd rather watch other fights.

I’m just saying…me personally? I have no real interest in Renzo / Hughes or Renzo / anyone in the UFC

i don’t think he’s go down as hard as royce
if at all..

+ i like that weird my legs are wobbly oh no they’re not, but i cant move them thing hughes does when he’s caught off guard with a punch

I'm sure he'd be better than Royce...

he has a much more “modern” game.

Renzo =/= Royce. He has a style to match with Hughes. I want matt’s last fights to be renzo, miletich, and serra 2.

I think he should fight Paul Daley.

Hell yeah. I love the “senior division” fights. These are the matchups we never got to see—I don’t care of it’s for title contention or not.

I didn’t think I could be more jealous of Dana… But now he’s in Abu Dhabi for the Formula 1 GP??? Ugh.
And yes, I would like to see Renzo in the UFC, I also like the idea of a “senior” division.

Didn’t Renzo weigh in around 185 for his last fight? Weight cutting becomes easier at 42? What kind of potential match ups for him would even be good?

I can’t see him beating any 185’ers, Akiyama would be a fun fight I guess. If he went to 170 I don’t really see any good match ups for him.

I doubt he can cut down to 155, look at that puffy face. He can fight Caol Uno if he makes it!

With the recent signing of Rolles Gracie, this seems like a strong possibility. If Rolles wins his first fight via submission of the night and reestablishes relevancy of the Gracie name in contemporary MMA, then it’s all about whether Renzo wants the contract or not.

Interesting question for next year: When they start promoting Rolles and maybe Renzo, how will Strikeforce piggyback the PR for Roger Gracie? Also, could that be done to build a future Gracie-Fedor fight?

Renzo in the UFC+1

I clearly remember renzo was beating Frank Sham before Frank got DQ’d

Renzo vs Pat M as TUF coaches…

by DamnSevern on Nov 2, 2009 8:39 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

This would be interesting to me.

Just BE.

Great idea. You don’t tie up titles and you can finally give pat what he deserves (tuf coaching). He was supposed to coach season 3 but they opted for Tito/Ken last minute.

by thisredengine on Nov 2, 2009 11:27 AM EST via mobile up reply actions   0 recs

YA…the only way id want to see them fight is if they were TUF coaches first….

demian maia vs renzo gracie

at 170lbs? i think that would be an interesting ground fight. I think people are still in the mind set that the gracies have something to prove about their art. But the fact that you NEED to know atleast the fundamentals of BJJ in this level of MMA, shows they dont need to prove anything. I would love to see Renzo fight in the UFC

by bluejitz on Nov 2, 2009 2:48 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

First, If Maia could cut to 170, he would be fighting there….Second, I think Maia would be a little too quick and dynamic for him…
