Ben Rothwell gives insight on his upcoming fight with Cain Velasquez.
"They have some big boys in the UFC that can fight now. And these smaller heavyweights, I just don't know if they'll be able to cut it much longer. A lot of these guys are going to start cutting to 205."

I think Big Ben
Is a very live underdog in this fight. Rothwell hits hard, and is a pretty well rounded, big dude. Leaning towards Cain by decision, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rothwell scores the upset.

I absolutely agree.
Although, to be candid, I was a big fan of the IFL.

I was at the press conference and I can tell you that the size difference between Rothwell and Cain is striking. They look to be in completely different weight classes. I like Rothwell’s chances.

I love his attitude in this video.
I think Cain is going to be in for a long night if he can’t score takedowns at ease like he did against Kongo, and Ben is probably the best wrestler he has ever faced so it will be interesting to finally see how “good” Cain’s wrestling is in a MMA setting.

I think Rothwell is going to get steamrolled. Velasquez has underrated standup. Kongo hit him with some big shots, but people don’t realize that Kongo is a much better technical striker than the vast majority of MMA heavyweights- that includes Ben Rothwell. At the very least Velasquez will be competitive in the standup, and no, I don’t think Rothwell will be able to stay upright either.

This is my thinking. Cain will not have to worry about the wading through the brutal shots that Kongo can land in order to set up his shots, and Cain may not have a ton of power in his hands but his technical boxing is not bad. So, if he can use his hands to keep Rothwell at least even in the standup and avoid any powershots, he’ll be able to control the pace and location of the fight.

But the problem is this :
Cain knows about Kongo and his skillset and what he can do.
He knows nothing about Rothwell….And that may well put everything in Rothwell’s favor in this fight.
I really see an upset here.

What qualifies you to know what Cain knows?
Unless you are his head trainer, how would you know that. Rothwell isn’t some unknown fighter. Many of his fights are available to study. Cain is going to be the most rounded fighter Rothwell has faced, besides being the best wrestler. And pretty much ever name heavyweight Ben has fought, he lost!
