An honest question Supremacy

You say the reason you always post stuff about non-Zuffa owned promotions is because everyone else covers them enough and you don’t have any bias against them, right? Yet I never see you in the comments section of a UFC article talking about how great the card is gonna be, why is that? I can see your point about not making Fanposts about it but if you really were unbiased I’d think you would at least comment about how good a card, say, UFC 106 is gonna be, but you don’t, you only say it about Strikeforce, Dream, Affliction, etc. How do you really expect us to believe you’re not anti-Zuffa?

Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.

by ufc4 on Oct 9, 2009 6:35 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions   0 recs

I get to them when I have time, and I have before. I think UFC 106 will the UFC’s next mega card that will prob. due around 1 mill buys. I am with the others who are shocked that Forrest took the fight with Tito, but excited to see another quality fight on the card (I was not looking forward to Tito vs Coleman). I am not sure how well 104 will do though. Very quiet on that end and it will depend on Machida being a draw to sell. Good stuff from all MMA lately. Too much to talk about, really. =)

Stacked?

This is what a “stacked” card looks like right? I’m only been into this for maybe 2 years and every fight seems worth watching no matter what style you’re looking for.

STACKED!

by Krimson on Oct 9, 2009 5:43 PM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

Yeah, it’s sort of surprising considering how shallow the talent pool is. I mean who’s going to be the big draw on the next card? They maybe should’ve saved one of these guys for the next show or something. Atleast Shields or Mayhem or something. But yeah, not complaining. I can actually watch a show here in my home (basic cable).

Rumored Showtime December Card:
- Nick Diaz vs. Jay Hieron (WW title)
- Josh Thomson vs. Gil Melendez (LW Unification Title)
- Frank Shamrock vs. TBA
- Scott Smith vs. TBA
- Cris Cyborg vs. TBA

by Nick Thomas on Oct 9, 2009 8:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think it’s Frank vs. Scott and Cris Cyborg vs, Coenen or Toughill. Also what happens to Lindland, Jacare, Lawler, King Mo, Arlovski, and Lashley who are all rumored to be on either Strikeforce card? If some of these guys are added that will be a great Showtime card. Although I’d much rather have Tim Kennedy take on Scott Smith than Frank Shamrock.

by nottheface on Oct 9, 2009 10:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Coenen or Toughill are not gonna fight Cyborg 1 month later

The other thing is half the guys you just listed have not even been confirmed to sign with Strikeforce

King Mo, Arlovski, and Lashley keep getting mentioned but I wouldnt by in until you see a signing confirmed.

Also did they ever confirm Lindland? I thought I remember them confirming his signing in August but I wasnt sure if I dreamed that and I’m too lazy too google.

by bigdmmafan on Oct 9, 2009 10:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He is signed to Strikeforce. Either Lindland, Jacare, and Lawler will be fighting in December if there is not enough room for them in this show. Shaolin will also be fighting in December, wants to fight in November though.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Oct 9, 2009 10:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That’s why I was asking what happened to Lashley, Mo, and Arlovski. Last I heard Strikeforce was working on a deal to buy Lashley’s current contract, Mo had turned Sengoku 7 down and was negotiating with SF, and Arlovski planned on fighting in December or January. What is the word on all three?

And I was under the impression that if Cyborg was ready to fight in December then either Coenen or Toughill would be pulled to face her, but I maybe mistaken.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Oct 10, 2009 1:16 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Umm, that doesn’t seem that stacked to me. The Nov 7 card certainly isn’t, but Nick Diaz vs Jay hieron, while a decent fight, doesn’t make this a very stacked card IMO. Frank Shamrock is cool, but he’s lost some luster with age too.

Best Chance

Putting on a great massive show is there best chance to build the brand and build other fighters.
Moussasi can’t headline effectively now because no one knows him. If he beats a dude who looks like the Predator in impressive fashion with a good crowd then maybe he’s a headliner.

Think all of the fighters on the left win?

by MMAInFeRioRiTy on Oct 9, 2009 3:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think Werdum vs. Silva can be competetive

and I dont know enough about women’s mma to comment on that fight but my best guess is Fedor, Gegard, and Jake simply destroy their opponents.

That is not a knock on Soko, Brett, or Mayhem but Fedor, Mousasi, and Shields are on a different level compared to their opponents.

by bigdmmafan on Oct 9, 2009 3:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Mayhem has never been subbed (already fought Jacare twice). The fight will be a war and Shields will need to punish Mayhem to beat him. I don’t think he can just catch him in a sub. I think it will be a great fight.

Plus, he fought Jacare (twice), GSP, etc, and the only way to beat him is to beat him up! It will be a war.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Oct 9, 2009 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I actually think Mayhem has a good chance to win this fight. His striking is way better than Jakes and he wont give him his neck like Lawler.

by xbuckeyex05 on Oct 9, 2009 5:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

agreed, mayhem has a distinct advantage on the ground and a big reach advantage on shields. his fighting style is very similiar to nick diaz….but like happier.

he also has much better ring entrances. youtube him kickin the head of dan henderson’s pinata sometime.

by Headkick on Oct 9, 2009 5:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Uh, Mayhem does not have a distinct advantage on the ground. Not being subbed in a few years does not equate to being better on the ground than Jake Shields.

Other Fighters Rumored...

Where Jacare, Lindland, and Robbie Lawler.

So, if they don’t make their way on to this card, they will fight on December, which will be another SOLID card for SF.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Oct 9, 2009 4:10 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah Robbie Lawler vs. Jacare was rumored… but that’s craziness if they put that on the undercard.

by Nick Thomas on Oct 9, 2009 4:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Shaolin wanted to fight on the card as well. Arlovski, Lombard, and Lashley also wanted to fight on the card. From what I heard, a ton of MMA fighters were lining up to be on this card because of the bank they would make from their sponsors. We will see if they carry over to December.

Also, remember that Showtime did show the CBS EliteXC undercards before, but since Showtime is having the Challengers event the day before, I am not sure they will.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Oct 9, 2009 4:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Why didn’t they line up Mousasi against Lombard in a catchweight match? That fight makes a lot more sense to me as a non-title match than what they currently got.

by nottheface on Oct 9, 2009 4:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think it has more to do with what Bellator wants in return for letting SF use Lombard. That fight may happen in the future, but SF probably didn’t want it to happen on CBS.

I am happy with this card for the reason being that these fights look to be competitive (I think that Mousasi vs Soukoudjou fight may lean more towards The Dreamcatcher though). While you can say this about any fighter, but Rogers is capable of pulling off the upset especially with his power even though Fedor has more tools to win. Miller vs Shields should be pretty competitive, and I personally find the Werdum vs Silva fight to be pretty evenly matched. The Coenen vs Toughill fight is a rematch that had Toughill winning by TKO/KO, but I want Marloes to win this, and I hope that fight is shown on television especially just for the sake of adding some credibility to Cyborg’s next challenger.

Another great benefit with the “no ground elbows rule” is that it makes it easier to catch your opponent in arm bars and triangles. Fortunately for Rogers Fedor sucks at armbars…

by nottheface on Oct 10, 2009 12:53 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions   0 recs

Exactly

Rogers maybe a good up and comer but it’s not like Rogers dominated Arlovski and then ko’d him.

Anyone sensible would agree that where Rogers looked good Arlovski looked equally bad. Even Barnett said it right after it happened that you dont go straight back.

Now Rogers has a chance because everyone has a chance but Reaser16 is correct when he says by far the most competetive match is Werdum and Silva.

Mismatch?

No. As close of a matchup as some are making it out to be? No as well.

People tend to forget July 08 and January 09. I could easily see this going down like the Sylvia match up.

Frank Trigg said that Fedor hits like he has hammers for fists and I really think Fedor decides when he is gonna end a match.

Brett had better hope he can keep this standing because that is the only chance he has if this hits th ground Fedor will get a submission within 1 minute.
