Overeem/Timmay, please. Hope the Soko/Gegard fight is legitimately happening.
I STILL poop rainbows.

It was supposed to happen in DREAM, so I am all for it.

I think its better for everyone’s safety to let Tim fight HMC first

From Mike Chiappetta on the UG:
I dont think there were too many other options. I heard another option was Mike Whitehead, but they couldn’t agree on a catchweight.
There’s not much out there as far as name fighters at 205. It’s going to be a challenge for Strikeforce to make compelling fights for Mousasi at 205. King Mo is probably the best future matchup they can put together. As far as free agents or guys they have under contract it’s Paulo Filho, Arona, Whitehead.

why on earth is
Mousasi vs Sokoudjou a non-title fight? Lame!
Arona was my preferred choice for a Mousasi opponent.
They need to get to work on rehabbing Feijao. He’s the guy who could really be a challenger for Mousasi.

I was really hoping for a Hector Lombard rematch at catchweight. He expressed interest. Bellator said they’d help him get fights. It would have had meaning as a non-title match. I’m hoping Sokoudjou is still a back-up plan or they’re trying to keep Zuffa guessing and pull out Arona at the end of the week. I would like to see if Sokoudjou could put a couple solid wins and build himself up to being a legitimate contender.
And Sylvia? For his sake I hope it’s Choi.

The only explanation I can come up with that will make any sense would be people saying that it’s too short notice (and turnaround time for Soko) to make it a 5 round fight, but I really don’t buy that logic.
by Phildo on Oct 9, 2009 11:58 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
even though it seems like an excuse, the logic plays out just fine… one month and three days notice for a 5 round title fight is short
by ironic sumo on Oct 9, 2009 2:36 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It’s an excuse, but a shitty one.
If this is card is such a big deal, plan it better.

i have to agree with you on that one.. planning fights just one month in advance is amateur. more is expected from you strikeforce
by ironic sumo on Oct 9, 2009 2:43 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It’s very… Japan. I don’t know about amateur, but it doesn’t fly well with North American sports fans.

It’s just bad business, everyone says they should be advertising this card now to get maximum exposure, well it’s hard to do that when they don’t even know for sure who is fighting.

Lombard...
wanted the fight as well, and may get it in the future, but Strikeforce turned it down.

“the fight will take place on the undercard of the Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers CBS show.”
I thought undercard meant fights that won’t be shown on TV?

undercard is everything other than the main event
by nastyem on Oct 9, 2009 11:50 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Main Event is generally the top (#) whatever fights including the Headline. Undercard is everything before that ,generally the stuff they don’t air on TV live.

I would really love to see BIG Tim fighting in Japan for Dream. He could really revitalive his career with a few BIG W’s in Dream. But come on now FEG I really don’t want to see him fight Choi or some other freak show fight. Overeem sounds good and how about a fight with Kharitonov and then say Mark Hunt.

Revitalize of how ever you want to spell it ? you know it means to bring back new life or to restore new vitality to BIG Tims Career.
