Quote of the Day: Ultimate Fighter Contestant Zak Jensen Says, "Rampage Jackson Has Kimbo Slice's **** in His Mouth"
Let's start off with the obvious, the coaches rallying around Kimbo after he lost. This is the first time any of Team Rampage's coaches and even Quinton "Rampage" Jackson showed any concern for someone who lost. Rampage has Kimbo Slice's [expletive] in his mouth and so does Tiki Ghosn. When Rampage told Tiki they would still focus on Kimbo just in case someone got hurt, it was clear to me that it was all about Kimbo and no one else on our team.
The Ultimate Fighter 10 contestant Zak Jensen blogging about his experiences as a member of Team Rampage.
UPDATE: Zak emailed me the following revised text that he says should have been published instead of the above:
Lets start off with the obvious, the coaches rallying around Kimbo after he lost. This is the first time any of Team Rampage's coaches and even Rampage showed any concern for some one who lost. This just proved, using Rampages own words he used against James saying" he had Rashad's nuts in his mouth." Rampage has Kimbo's nuts in his mouth and so does Tiki. This all being proved when Tiki said, "Roy wasn't happy with the win," and when Rampage told him they would still focus on him just in case some one got hurt. It became apparently clear to me it was truly all about Kimbo and not anyone else on our team.

Watching last night’s episode brought about a genuine realization that Rampage is an asshole. Put briefly, he’s just plain immature.
I said the same thing
a couple weeks ago and got accused of fighter bashing. Maybe it’s permissible now.

you're right on the edge of fighter bashing
“is an asshole” is a bad construction.
But really, Rampage has been acting like an asshole so I’m going to let it slide.

Yes
is an = bad
is acting like = okay
Obviously there is a line here where you can’t go too far with it but generally that is the rule. But seriously, don’t go overboard.

See what I did there? I dance on the line!

Wait, logically...
Every mammal HAS an asshole. So some part of every mammal IS an asshole. Whereas very few people act like an ACTUAL asshole.

Hughes isn’t a bad coach. So long as we wouldn’t discuss philosophy, religion, politics, or just plain fact, I’d let him train me.

Shit dude, I would rather listen to Hughes’ ego and him reading bible quotes than be with a coach who can’t coach, and doesn’t give a shit about you unless you win.

Ken Shamrock
is the coach who’s most comparable to Rampage but I don’t think he’s quite as bad.

At least Ken tried. Rampage was clueless his first go-round, and just fawns over Kimbo this season.

I’m not sure whose team I would rather be on if the coaches were Rampage and Hughes.
Hughes in a heartbeat. He may not be a great person, but he seemed like a very good coach.

Does this really suprise anyone? I do feel for the fighters who got stuck with rampage. He was a poor coach last time as well. He is funny and that is the only good quality he brings to the show.

I agree but I still think Rampage would kick his ass.
Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.

Rampage is not there for his coaching. When will people learn that? He’s a terrible coach. Everyone knew that.
Twitter: @FlyByKnite
There’s a difference between being a terrible coach and just being apathetic towards the guys trying to learn from you.
Agreed. Some people are just not good teachers. But that does not mean they cannot put some effort into it and at least try. At the very least they can support their students. That by itself goes a long way.
Even if Rampage were to do nothing else except be supportive and give pep talks, that would already be a lot better than what he actually did as coach.
It’s his apathy and complete disregard for anyone else’s interests except for his own that really blows me away. Kimbo was an exception but it’s pretty obvious that Kimbo was the cash cow of the show and Rampage was using Kimbo for his own ends.
After the Ep. 4 fight, Rampage just said there complaining and looking at his cell phone. Like he couldn’t even pay enough attention to his own complaining to do it properly. Unbelievable!
You could almost say that DW (and whomever else picks the coaches) is partly to blame for this because they definitely knew that Rampage would not be a good coach. But they picked him anyways for the ratings.
Honestly
this whole season is just about Kimbo. Look at the coverage on this site. There were 7 articles on episode 3. Last nights fight didnt even get a recap. Its TUF10: Kimbo Slice.
He is a one dimensional, 6’2 230 35 year old in a division where after the brock win everyone was writing about how you cant compete unless youre 260 and crying for a cruiser weight. Even now, if Carwin cant use his not quite as (pick one) good/big/fast/athletic/skilled as brock abilities and get a miracle KO, MAYBE Nog can tap him out… MAYBE. Kimbo dosent have a chance.
Rampage is likely as frustrated as we are. I cant blame him. Shad is trying to coach his buddies into the UFC which is a big deal for his camp, but Rampage has nothing to gain and has been overshadowed by Kimbo. I dont know him personally, but he dosent seem like the type to give up the spot light. He probably said “f this” and picked crap guys so he could throw hissy fits and get attention.
Im sure the numbers will disagree, but in terms of retaining fans and bringing in new ones… this season has been a failure. The longer the Kimbo experiment goes on the worse it makes Dana look (Dana trashes Fedor but has confidence in Kimbo?) The UFC is mortgaging its credibility on guys who dont have a shot for the sake of Spike TV ratings. Rampage has gotten fed up and left the organization. I cant blame him.
Im not watching anymore until the finals. I want to see Jon Jones get tested. I encourage you all to do the same.

Was someone serious about Kimbo being competitive in UFC? He’s has mediocre boxing skill and no ground game. This doesn’t look like profile of a fighter you would like to hire.
He’s money maker, that’s all.

There are bums in the UFC, but no one is making a big deal out of it. Bums are used to feed other fighters. Kimbo is a bum that’s gonna be feed with bigger bums.

Hope the coaches next season are Tito & Chuck for a rematch. Even though everyone says it’s a bad fight(mainly for Chuck) I think it would do huge money and be popular for a TV show too, could easily headline a card. And I always enjoyed Tito when he was coaching against Shamrock and thought he was one of the better coaches.
Hackleman and Chuck could do a great job coaching a team together on the show and it would give Chuck a longer break before he fights again, as well as coming off the popularity of him on Dancing with the Stars as well.
Yes I put a little bit of thought into it.
Jenson shouldnt say something like that out to the public if he wasnt willing to say it to Rampage during the season when he was there.
1) He may have & it hasn’t aired yet (if at all).
2) He may have just waited to vent until after the season is over.
3) It isn’t wise to speak this harshly to your coach if it’s your shot at the Big League

I just said earlier today
Rashad is there to coach, Rampage is there to hang out with Kimbo.
Wow I’m good!
"Why am I here? Why does my mind have wings? Why do blue midgets hit me with fish?!" - The Tick
I really like how Jensen ended it:
Also the last thing Rampage said was that he had to go and read a part of the book he was carrying around for his acting class. I have an idea, why don’t you start acting like a [expletive] coach!
I really don’t like how Cagewriter denotes profanity – [expletive]. I mean, what the [expletive] is that.
Zak Jensen FTW
I'm looking for the chicken and the rice. Please for you give me the chicken then you come with the rice or then you give me the rice and the chicken, I don't care.

Kimbo seems like an OK guy to me after watching these past few episodes.
That being said, I think the only reason he’s so popular is because he has large upper body muscles. Thats it. People fall for that crap, its really sad actually…
I like Kimbo too, but to be honest I didn’t like the way he kept talking about how he was coming back if someone got hurt. Of course he will, because hes marketable, but have some respect and at least pretend to think that one of the others has a chance to replace an injured fighter.

Just to add depth to the heavyweight roster, I am predicting that the UFC will keep a good amount of this season’s TUF conterstants. Even though Kimbo is getting the most exposure, every one else is getting at least some exposure as well. I expect everyone to have better cardio as well fighting outside of the show because these fighters aren’t going to be in a house with no real entertainment and just food and alcohol.

As much as I don’t like Rashad, he’s a pretty damn good coach. He cares about his fighters, hell…he even cares about Rampage’s fighters. He has good strategy sessions, understands he can’t change people in such a short time just tweak them within their own styles and even encourages the mental aspect of training.
So far he’s shaping up to be one of the best coaches of TUF ever.
Rashad looks like he’s passionate about the sport and It’s pleasure to learn from someone with passion.

For what it’s worth. Generally the coaches spend very little time actually working with the fighters on the show. The assistant coaches put in most of the work.

Being famous and doing interviews; the only reason anyone agrees to coach on TUF is to get facetime.

Wait, Rampage SAID he was a lousy coach the first time around
…then PROVED he was a lousy coach. Then they asked him back. And it’s news that he’s still no good at this? Huh?

Thats what I can't understand
No amount of explaining or rationalization is going to convince me that the people who gave this season the greenlight weren’t suffering from a bout of temporary yet crippling stupidity.
I’m going to go back and watch earlier seasons I have on my media center every Weds night instead from now on.
This season is a god damn abortion.
This season is a Kimbo Centric season
Kimbo=Ratings
Development of fighters is really the last thing on their mind
That's the problem with reality TV like this.
They can edit the events of the show however suits their fancy NOW. It Kimbo were to get arrested for some horrific crime next week, they could easily edit the unreleased episodes to totally marginalize his part from here on out.
wes sims would be better for ratings than having kimbo be portrayed as the nicest “fight bareknuckle for money” guy in a backyard, ever. wes is always popping off with absurd statements. you can’t tell me he’s been saying nothing for the past few weeks of film time. besides, seeing rampage leave his man alone in the cage after losing, a GUY HE CHOSE FOR HIS TEAM, was a disgrace. period. that’s not fighter bashing, that’s coach bashing. i don’t even see rampage as a fighter and certainly not as a coach anymore. he was all sour grapes ever since forrest beat him fair and square….and after his felony red bull high speed chase.
