Darrill Schoonover and Abe Wagner talk Team Rampage:

Darrill Schoonover - "Demico's coaches were out eating, while Demico was sitting down cold and wondering where his coaches were at. Not having anybody to wrap his hands. I don't understand why one of his teammates did not step up and help him warm up and wrap his hands. It was very immature of the coaches to do that. ... People don't understand how something like that can affect a fighter's mentally."

Abe Wagner - "It’s hard to believe Rampage acted that way after the fight and didn’t want to give Demico a stool or even go in to the cage afterward. Well, I mean I guess I can, he left before my fight was even over. In fact now that I think about it, he wouldn’t even speak to me for a day or two after. I think Rashad did a very accurate job of describing the feelings after a loss and he was dead on. You do feel really low and I do think that a good coach will be there for you to help you through it."

"I consider Rampage among my friends and in general I think he’s a decent guy. But at this point, it was feeling to me like his heart really wasn’t into being a coach; almost like he was just waiting out the clock. Maybe that wasn’t the case, but it was definitely my perception."

Rampage is shitty to his fighters. I can understand if he isn’t coaching material, but the alternative is that he could surround these inexperienced fighters with trainers and corner men that will build them up and bring out the best in them. He’s pretty damn selfish.

This season is making me feel justified in disliking Rampage, can’t stand the guy after all that twitter crap he put up after Forrest lost to Anderson. Rampage is pretty much that bully kid in schools who covers up how much of a douche he is by justifying his actions through “humor”.

I’d hate to be coached by that guy.

Aside of being a bad coach, it also looked like he didn’t care for anyone except kimbo.

I went into this season as a Rampage fan and disliking Rashad but Rampage looked like an asshole last night and the move by rashad going to Demico after the fight and consoling him was incredibly classy.

I haven’t fought yet, hopefully in January, but I can’t imagine how awful I would feel for my coach not to be there before or after the fight.

I hope Demico bounces back from being screwed over.

TUF has a propensity to build or destroy a fighter's rep when they expose who they are through coaching.

I know it completely reformed my opinions of Shamrock and Tito way back when, which this season (from what I have seen) is reminding me of a lot.

Team Rashad’s Mike Wessel:

Rampage didn’t even show up with enough to help Demico warm up and I was glad that they showed how Rampage and their coaches really didn’t care about their fighters or the show. It was more to promote Rampage, and that sucks for everyone their team.

Rampage has a ton of talent on his team and it was a shame that they got stuck with a coach they didn’t care about them. I am not talking about all the coaches because Junior and British Tom tried but they are going to follow Rampages lead. Rampage didn’t even go to him after the fight he just sat outside of the cage and felt sorry for himself about how he must have the worst luck. Really? What a dick.

Rashad and our coaches came over and took care of him and that shows how much our coaches care about all the athletes on the show. The only thing that Rampage did right was admitting he coached Demico wrong but Rampage never admitted it to his own team and he needed too. After how he acted I think Rampages team finally felt like they didn’t have any support.

I Hate Rampage after that stuff, i guess so fighters can be coaches and some people can’t be, thank your lucky stars that he is retired from fighting because if he came back and did another season i would protest against it because he is a awful coach!

Rampage as a Coach

It’s been a while since I’ve watched Ken Shamrock on TUF 3, but I feel like Rampage has surpassed him as the dirt worst MMA coach.

Granted, Shamrock couldn’t actually teach many skills or coach his fighters well during their actual fights (and I may be understating that), but it seems to me he was actually there when his fighters were warming up and actually acknowledged the existence of his fighters immediately after they had lost.

I love Rampage, but coaching is just not his thing on any level.

Shamrock’s “steak & chicken” advice > anything advice Rampage has given his team.

You can’t go wrong with steak & chicken.

After that fight, I was really put off by Rampage’s behavior. It was very jeuvenile and weak. He really should never coach again. Honestly, I don’t recall him being that much of a dick the first time he coached.

I love me some Sexyama!

rampage is showing once again that he's extremely selfish

those years over in japan obviously didn’t teach him anything about honour and loyalty
i can’t believe that’s how you would treat your teammate/ student
i mean come on, it’s not like he repetitively ignores your instructions and loses

even then you still shouldn’t be do that

Rampage wasn’t like that before, but it’s like he’s got a chip on his shoulder about something. The fact that his heart isn’t in it is painfully obvious. He’s selfish and seems to be doing the minimum amount possible in order to get the money. I used to really like Rampage because he seemed funny, but after a while I started getting the impression that he was always just trying to think of something goofy to say instead of just being real.

In contrast, I always disliked Rashad up until I started hearing interviews and seeing his personality. He seems like a genuine dude. Even his response to Rampage retiring didn’t seem cruel. He just stated the facts, that Rampage is an emotional guy. Anyways, I really hope they do this fight because I think Rashad can take Rampage.

Did you miss TUF 7?

This season is an exact duplicate of the Forrest versus Rashad season. I think Rampage went 2-8 on that season.

I mean it was the same guy making poor choices, but I remembered him talking to Matthew Riddle after his loss to Credeur, sticking up for his friend after he was disappointed by his loss, hanging out a lot with his fighters. He seemed a little more genuine, but you know what, I don’t watch all of them, so my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt.
