Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

Junie_medium

"Junie Browning was recently arrested for assaulting three nurses at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nevada, after The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 8 alum was admitted for taking 16 pills of Klonopin — an anti-anxiety drug — "in an attempt to harm himself," according to the Las Vegas Review Journal." -- MMA Mania Junie told the nurses: "Do you know who I am? I will kill you and rape your family."

I would agree, if it wasn’t the UFC that kept him around after the crap on the show.

It’s probably easier to boot him now…The loss to Cole Miller did’nt help, and now this? He’s not Rampage.

Junie versus War Machine

Some aspiring promoter needs to make that fight happen.

by Steve4192 on Oct 7, 2009 10:12 PM EDT reply actions

War Machine says stupid things but he’s doing things right now. He’s working his ass off taking every fight he can and winning. That’s what you need to do.

Agreed

War Machine is serious about fighting and has looked excellent in his last few scraps. Nothing like Junie.

Junie… stupid is as stupid does.

He just can’t keep from shooting off at the mouth.

I was thinking more ICP.

They are both atrocious, though.

I wanna see Junie do well.....

…but this kid has serious mental issues. :(

I read on sherdog that he is bipolar and has other mental issues. Apparently, head Xtreme Couture trainer Shawn Tompkins is giving him a place to stay and helping him out.

Junie got cut

from Kevin Iole:

UFC president Dana White told Yahoo! Sports that he terminated Browning’s contract immediately upon learning of the arrest.
…….

"Obviously, I’m very disappointed," White said. "I haven’t heard anything regarding Junie where he’s acted up or been bad in a long time. You could tell on the show he had issues. I saw (fighting) as an opportunity for the kid to turn his life around and make something of himself. Physically, he’s very gifted. He is good at everything: Standup, he has great ground, he has an unbelievably good chin.

"He was given an amazing opportunity, but he has some serious issues that are beyond me and what I can do. I’m there for guys and I realize nobody is perfect and guys are going to get into trouble. When that happens, I want to try to help and do something for them. But he needs more help than I can give him. I did what I could for him."

So I guess he’ll be fighting for a Strikeforce contract shortly.

The last thing StrikeForce needs is a fighter who’s a headache who doesn’t even draw money. Junie Browning will be fighting at MFC next. Maybe.

Man, you guys are harsh, the guy has obvious issues, but alot of this backlash is uncalled for.

The guy was given a lot of chances on the show, and in the UFC and yet the guy found a way to ruin it for himself. An unstable guy like that shouldn’t be fighting,at all.

by IRodC on Oct 8, 2009 2:15 AM EDT reply actions

No he shouldn’t be fighting but I don’t see the point in everyone shitting on him when he’s obviously messed up in the head and has some serious emotional issues. The guy tried to kill himself and he needs help, not a bunch of people telling him how much of an asshole he is.

Walla walla walla I'm an idiot.

by ufc4 on Oct 8, 2009 8:55 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions

The dude assault people, make death threats and I must feel for him because he hypothetically tried to kill himself? Maybe I could if I never had to go through life myself trying to make the good choices in the hardest times.

u do realize that there are side-effects...

of taking that many pills right>? aside of possible death, of course.

I never really liked Junie, but there’s obviously some deeper issues here..

I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.

Yeah, I don’t really get this. The things a person says or does when on 16-20 times the recommended dosage of a drug are not indicative of what they are actually like. Nobody’s asking you to send him a Hallmark card, I just don’t see how you can pass judgment on him either.

Sharing time

Ever been around somebody on OD levels of drugs like these? For what it’s worth, I found my father one morning a few years ago after he attempted suicide by taking a bottle of sleeping pills he’d been prescribed. I thought he’d had a stroke at first, and when he did start talking it was not him at all. Obviously everybody’s entitled to their own opinion here, but I think it’s worth considering that it’s difficult to judge somebody’s behavior in a situation like that.

Please, don’t mistake this for defense of his decisions or condoning his judgment. I’m not trying to say he should have a job with the UFC. But the man’s disturbed and just tried to kill himself. And I think that sucks.

Rec’d for being able to say what I wanted to far better. Junie isn’t a saint, and could possibly be an incredibly huge d-bag…but people are overlooking the whole part where he tried to “cause harm to himself” and just see him being an asshole afterwards.

Junie needs some help, and I hope he gets it.
